Seriously... 8+ rating?
So this was on my list to watch from a long time. Somehow, I was sceptical in watching it due to 16 episodes with each 50 minutes length. Now that doesn't mean that it is a bad sign, but given the content korean cinema is producing these days, the series only got delayed in watching.
The first episode, like everyone said, is hard to watch. And frankly speaking, it was the first episode that hooked me into watching further. At that moment I was like why did I not watch it early.
But, but but... I had to hold on my horses because as the series progressed, it only slugged. And frankly speaking, coming to 4 - 5 episodes they felt more of fillers and very less execution.
What didn't work for me:
1. The lead protagonist and the antagonist. While one is shown so cold that she lost the difference of thin line between cold character and wooden or static acting, the other one gave cringeworthy performance like the way she used to laugh every now and then.
2. The young characters felt more creepy and relatable than the elder ones. Ironically, the elder ones felt more like influenced into getting this show while the young ones may have gone with series of auditions and casting issues.
3. The korean formula of showing things in bits and pieces didn't work here.
4. Unrelatable circumstances. While at one end they show how cruel they were that they felt no remorse in bullying, when grownup they just sit loose and crib when the protagonist keeps playing games in their life. One sided view where the creators of the show wanted the protagonist to win at any cost.
I still couldn't makeup how people were so absorbed into watching this show. Gone 5 episodes, I had already started losing interest, and after 10th, I skipped the 11th and went straight to 16th to understand what all I missed and to proof myself that I was wrong into undermining this show. Seriously, nothing. It felt like a normal soap opera where even if you miss a couple of episodes you are still into the show.
This show could have been easily cut short to 8 episodes and would have been way better and engulfing.

Directorial debut of Sonu Sood, the movie primarily concentrates on two elements: cyber frauds and blunt action. While cyber fraud was something that took my attention, action scenes were more noisy and melodramatic than adrenaline filled.
Let me put some cringe filled situations related to action sequences:
1. The theatre scene was exact copy of movie The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington when he goes to a pub run by Russians to save Chloe Grace. If you haven't watched that movie, go watch it and its action scenes.
2. The action artists whom Fateh ram every now and then felt useless and unrealistic. Like he kills 100s of them in one scene, but none comes forward in a group to kill him.
3. Fateh could fly a knife and kill his opponent, but all the opponents were dumb and dumber and never do the same on him.
4. When Fateh doesn't have guns, opponents also doesn't. In one scene the opponent had, and Fateh was able to steal it from him without much effort. Really.
People who are comparing its action sequences with John Wick are forgetting that in John Wick, it's his suit that soaks all the gun shots. And as and when John fights forward, he gets equally exhausted and shows pain. In Fateh, Sonu Sood plays God mode and nothing less.
Now I am not against this movie or Sonu Sood, and i really appreciated his direction. But somewhere, I felt lack of originality, conviction, and emotions. I wasn't able to bind his chemistry in the movie.

I watched this movie yesterday and to be very frank, it had its own moments and too many cliched sequences. Let me detail out few movies to give you a gist of similarities I found in this movie.
The Godfather: a well known mafia movie with a very well known storyline and aftermath mystery. While watching Marco, i remembered many sequences following the same as The Godfather.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: or many other such movies like The Hostel, I spit on your grave, or even the slumber house massacre. All had over the top gore with nerve wrecking picturization. If you are watching a gore movie, Marco, the first time in your life, this may give you core shocking moments.
The Raid: or even John Wick series, Ballerina, or lot more. Over the top action of all type... Fist fight, knife fight, gun fight. You name it and there are movies out there that are classified in that specific genre. Like The man from nowhere. A very good knife fight action movie.
Now let me detail out the pros and cons of this movie.
Pros:
Picturization. The color contrast and the backgrounds used were very imaginative and eye catching given the type of movie.
The lead: you will see Marco doing his own stunts. Or even if in many places it was not him, hats off to the cinematography and editing.
A new formula in Indian Cinema. Yes, you need to watch the climax of the movie to understand what I am trying to infer.
Cons:
Somewhere illogical storyline to fulfill the gaps and get the gore+violence going.
I watched it in a different language, other than Malayalam, and the dialogues and background songs were really bad.
The violence and gore shown felt unjustifed. This is something that really bothered me. Like in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the whole family became psycho due to famine. Here, the reason they portrayed gore was unjustified.
Marco fights army, gave them blows and what not. But in other sequences, he wasn't able to do much. This to me felt totally nonsense. At some places I felt like when he was wearing the suit, he got God power, otherwise he was a normal human being.
Given above points, I can't rate this movie above 6.
