I have only seen this movie once, when it originally premiered and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. After all these years I still think it's Michael Keaton's finest performance. With that said it's highly unlikely that I would ever see "My Life" again, too sad, to emotionally draining. The sadness isn't just because of his illness and untimely death but his inner struggle with his family and heritage speaks volumes to many 1st generation Americans who have and do struggle with the same feelings.
Nicole Kidman and Queen Latifah are very good in their perspective roles.
It's a good movie and worth seeing but be prepared to cry and reflect on your own mortality.

I thought the TV movie that introduced us to Sabrina/Melissa Joan Hart was very good and when I heard that they were in production for a weekly show I couldn't wait for it to start. But sadly the show just didn't do it for me. The show was poorly written, poorly directed and at times poorly acted. I give Hart credit because she really did carry the show for the 7 years. Some might say that the show was a success because it ran for 7 seasons but that alone to me doesn't mean the show was any good. Those of us in our late 20's and early 30's remember Bewitched and I think that we expected, at least I did, for Sabrina to be in the vain of Bewitched not a carbon copy of it but at least better written and more consistency with story lines. The puppet (cat) I found corny and again not funny. The aunt's had their moments but again the material for the most part was badly written. I have tried and tried to really like this show, if I watch which is rare it's because I think Melissa Joan Hart gives it her all and one can't help but like her.
This show is, in my opinion, a very funny well written well acted program. I find it to be sophisticated and not your typical "urban" comedy. The chemistry between the four actresses is wonderful and believable. I must admit that there is a familiar feeling to the format of the show but, so what there are many sitcoms that are "like" other sitcoms that doesn't necessarily mean they are bad. Girlfriends brings a fresh approach to a old format. I like the fact that all the characters are in different places in their lives and that they are different in their approach to life, I find most of the story lines to be very truthful and realistic. This show is worth your time!
