He also made an impression in more mainstream far, however, such as Platoon, Le Secret and The Rock.

Final Destination 6 is aiming for a 2025 theatrical release (IMAX screens included) – and next year we might also get a new movie from original Final Destination screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick, as Deadline reports that Reddick is teaming up with Convoke Media, Vast Entertainment, DreamPunk Entertainment, and Emmy-winning director Lane Shefter Bishop (The Venice Murders) to get a film called Bloody Mary: Origins into production.
Based on the novel Mary: The Summoning by Hillary Monahan, Bloody Mary: Origins was scripted by Reddick and John Stancari – who, sadly, passed away in 2018 after a long battle with cancer. This is Stancari’s first produced film and will be dedicated to his memory. The story follows a group of teenage girls who discover an ancient spell that conjures the real Bloody Mary. When the terrifying entity pulls one of the girls through the mirror, she becomes trapped in the past, living out the real Mary Worth’s last days.

The 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau, which was directed by John Frankenheimer (who replaced Richard Stanley after half a week of filming), is a well-known disaster, but that was just one of many cinematic adaptations H.G. Wells’ 1896 novel has received over the years. That novel has inspired the 1932 classic Island of Lost Souls, 1959’s Terror Is a Man, 1972’s The Twilight People, a 1977 film that actually kept the The Island of Dr. Moreau title, the Full Moon production Dr. Moreau’s House of Pain, and more. Now we can add another title to the list, as Deadline reports that Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins has signed on to star in the The Island of Dr. Moreau reimagining Eyes in the Trees.

Stars: Cam Gigandet, Natalie Burn, Ser’Darius Blain, Jason Patric, Nicole Arlyn, Orlando Jones, Pancho Moler, D.Y. Sao | Written by Chad Law, Shane Dax Taylor | Directed by Timothy Woodward Jr.
As Til Death Do Us Part opens The Best Man sits in a pew working on his speech as upbeat music plays in the background. That’s followed by similar glimpses of other wedding party members prepping for the ceremony. A flashback to The Bride and Groom, nobody in this film has a name, on vacation serves to reinforce the happy image.
But Til Death Do Us Part isn’t a Hallmark Channel rom-com or Lifetime Channel thriller. Because when The Bride gets cold feet and bails on the wedding, we find out everyone involved in the ceremony is a highly skilled assassin. Now the stood-up Groom wants more than just his ring back, and their employer doesn’t take resignations well.

[Note: With the film now released in the UK, here’s a reposting of our review of Don’t Look Back from its screening at Frightfest last year]
Writer/director Jeffrey Reddick has a lot of form when it comes to supernatural horror. Not only did he create the long-running Final Destination franchise but he’s also behind the likes of underrated and under-seen supernatural slasher Tamara, Dead Awake and the more recent The Final Wish. All films that play with the idea of the dead returning for revenge on the living in one form or another. And Don’t Look Back is no different.
Don’t Look Back tells the story of Caitlin Kramer, a young woman trying to overcome her traumatic past who, whilst walking through the park one day, sees a man brutally assaulted. However no one intervenes to stop the attack. Instead they all start...

Pretty much my whole reason for giving The Final Wish a watch was because Lin Shaye stars in it. She is a seal of approval for me and I know that even if the movie disappoints, then I will at least see a good performance from the veteran actress. That said, this also features Tony Todd, another reliable horror icon and had some decent-looking poster artwork, so it had at least a few things going for it.
The Final Wish has a simple concept. After his Dad dies, a man (Michael Welch) heads back to the place he grew up to see his Mum (Shaye). While he is there he discovers a mysterious...

Muddled and unimaginative plotting leaves this 90s-style low-budget chiller as a disappointing missed opportunity
The Final Wish could be the last straw. It’s another example of dumb horror: derivative, factory-product, unscary movie-making that jumbles up a bunch of secondhand tropes without any real storytelling discipline, although there is a decent, professional performance here from Lin Shaye as an ageing woman haunted by her past.
Aaron (Michael Welch), a young guy whose life is going nowhere and who thinks of himself as a failure, has to return to his home town on hearing that his dad has died. There is an uneasy reunion with his troubled mother, Kate (Shaye), local girl Lisa (Melissa Bolona) with whom he is still poignantly in love, and a number of school friends and school enemies. But his late father, an antiques dealer, had in his possession a mysterious urn that can grant wishes – which...

Gothic Harvest
Ashley Hamilton’s Gothic Harvest, a New Orleans-based tale of ancient family curses and young women learning the hard way that they should be wary of talking to strangers, is likely to be noticed by horror fans due to the presence of Lin Shaye. Much admired for her work in the Insidious franchise and, more recently, The Final Wish (which she and I spoke about in January), she’s always looking for interesting new characters to explore. We discussed Gothic Harvest last month, on Friday the 13th with a full moon in the sky. She told me she’d been waiting for a parcel for months and had been told it would be delivered that day “of all days,” so she was convinced that these omens meant something would go wrong.
“I’m superstitious in a good way, I think,” she says, laughing, as we begin. “All roads lead to good.

“Alone,” the latest film from prolific horror director James Cullen Bressack, comes with one of the year’s creepiest premises: Alys, a sex trafficking victim who escaped from captivity ten years earlier, is lured into a terrifying survive-or-die scenario by someone from her past.
It’s a good fit for Spain’s annual Sitges film festival, which highlights fantasy and horror from around the world. “Alone” will have its world premiere in October as part of Sitges’ Midnight X-Treme lineup, and ahead of its public debut comes the extremely unsettling official trailer. "Rodeo isn't something I 'do', it's really – it's who I am." Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for an inspirational indie drama titled Walk. Ride. Rodeo., based on a true story about a young barrel racer who keeps racing despite a bad accident. The film tells the incredible true story of Amberley Snyder, a nationally ranked rodeo barrel racer who defies the odds after barely surviving a car accident that leaves her paralyzed from the waist down. Spencer Locke stars Amberley, with a full cast including Missi Pyle, Bailey Chase, Sherri Shepherd, Max Ehrich, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Raleigh Cain, and Barbara Alyn Woods. This is another one of these extra cheesy tearjerkers, with all the cliche lines of dialogue about overcoming anything and chasing your dreams. Here's the first official trailer for Conor Allyn's Walk. Ride. Rodeo., direct from Netflix's YouTube: The incredible true...

Melissa Bolona isn’t exactly like most actresses with a flourishing movie career.
The New Jersey-native, whose father is Peruvian and mother is American, says she’d always entertained the idea of acting for a living but never thought it was one of those things that could actually happen.
“I have no family in the industry,” says Bolona, 29. “I never thought of it as a viable option. School was always a priority in my family.”
In fact, it wasn’t until she was studying business abroad in Paris—she graduated from Pace university with a degree in International Marketing—that...

Lin Shaye in The Final Wish
If you’re read much folklore, you’ll be aware that the granting of wishes often comes with a price attached. When Aaron (Michael Welch) returns to his family home after the death of his antique collector father, he discovers an item with a sinister past and is surprised at the sudden improvements that seem to take place in his fortunes, but it’s all too quickly evident to viewers that something sinister is afoot. Central to the film, and responsible for much of its emotional impact, is the presence of Lin Shaye as Kate, the mother he has been out of touch with for some years. Ever since her unforgettable turn in Insidious in 2010, Lin has been adored by horror fans, but her involvement with the genre goes back decades before that and she has a great deal of other impressive work to her name,...

Horror icon Lin Shaye stars in a new horror film from the creator of Final Destination, and we’ve got an exclusive look!
It’s always exciting when a horror film can think up a truly unique premise to draw its scares from—though we just as easily love when reliable staples from the genre are reconfigured to popular (and often gruesome) delight. Yet the ideal situation is when the best of both worlds can blend like so much blood and terror, and an old fashioned idea can be spun off in a radically new and exciting direction. That’s exactly what appears to be happening in the upcoming The Final Wish.
The Final Wish taps into that karmic retribution horror that makes the simple monkey's paw archetype still so effective. When Aaron Hammond (Michael Welch) returns home to help his mother (Lin Shaye) after the death of his father,...

Over the course of his acting career, Tony Todd has continued to find work in the horror genre, but aside from his lead turn in the Candyman movies, Final Destination may still be the one series that the actor is best known for, with Todd assuming the role of mortician William Bludworth in three of the franchise’s five installments.
But while the property has found consistent commercial success with its series of mundane yet elaborate death scenes, Todd feels that the Final Destination films may have reached their final destination, telling Bloody Disgusting that it’s simply an issue of profit.
“I am [surprised] but I know why there hasn’t been [another sequel],” Todd said. “It’s really an expensive film to shoot. Just getting whatever accident set pieces, like for example part two with the whole traffic accident, that took a good five weeks to shoot and at least 20 million bucks.

Happy almost 2019, dear readers! The holiday season is nearly over, but rather than let that get you down, why not indulge in some great horror movies coming our way over the next few months? Usually, the winter season of genre releases can be something of a mixed bag in terms of quality, but there some impressive projects coming out in the next few months that have me extremely excited as a horror fan. The two films that are my most anticipated are (of course) Us from Jordan Peele and Christopher Landon’s sequel Happy Death Day 2U, but I’m also very intrigued by what I’ve seen from films like Greta, Glass, Braid, Captive State, and Escape Room so far, and am really looking forward to seeing how those stories come together onscreen as well.

"The universe demands balance. For there to be life, there must be death." Cinedigm has released an official trailer for an indie horror thriller film titled The Final Wish, which just premiered at the Screamfest Film Festival earlier this fall. The film is about a man who returns home after the death of his father, to help his grief-stricken mother and to confront his past. While going through his dad's belongings, he comes across a mysterious item that is more than it seems. That's the only plot details provided, and this trailer doesn't help explain anything. The Final Wish stars horror iconic Lin Shaye, along with Michael Welch, Melissa Bolona, Tony Todd, Spencer Locke, and Kaiwi Lyman. Unfortunately this film looks like yet another derivative, repetitive supernatural horror without much of anything new to offer the genre. Check it anyway. Grief is front and center in Timothy Woodward Jr.’s The Final Wish, a cautionary tale about the dangers of wish fulfillment centered around a struggling lawyer named Aaron (Michael Welch) who just wants to do right by everyone. And because this is a horror movie we’re talking about here, wanting good things for those you love often can come with a hefty price tag attached. Aaron quickly realizes that you often need bad to balance out the good in life, and his good deeds result in some devastating outcomes, proving that even good intentions can go horribly awry.
