Ranma 1/2, a reboot of a classic series from the 2024 Fall anime line-up, highlights the timeless charm of classic anime. While modern romance anime explore diverse narratives—spanning high school romances, university flings, office love stories, villainess redemption arcs, and more—audiences might feel overwhelmed by the influx of titles like A Sign of Affection, Kimi ni Todoke Season 2, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, and 7th Time Loop. Despite this, Ranma 1/2 reintroduces a refreshing, innocent romance that blossoms from the quirks of everyday life.
The story revolves around Ranma Saotome, who transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water, and Akane Tendo, his hot-headed fiancée. Their journey balances humor and heartfelt moments, proving that Akane and Ranma's dynamic relationship isn’t just nostalgic. It’s the perfect blend of modernity and classic storytelling, making them one of anime’s most enduring couples today.

Lost in a world reclaimed by nature and overrun by mysterious creatures, Die Alone picks up with a young man suffering from amnesia who teams up with an eccentric survivalist to find his missing girlfriend.
Written and directed by Lowell Dean, the movie stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Douglas Smith, Kimberly-Sue Murray, and Frank Grillo.
With the movie now available in theaters and on Digital and On Demand, we recently sat down with Dean to learn more about making this edge-of-your-seat, yet still very emotional, zombie apocalypse adventure.
As well as taking a deep dive into the creation of Die Alone's terrifying "Reclaimed," the filmmaker talks about putting a new spin on an all-too familiar genre, why he made some key creative decisions, and the importance of having Moss on hand to lead the project.
Dean also addresses the biggest challenges that came with making this movie and discusses the possibility of...

Villainess isekai genre offers unique storytelling potential with protagonist's past lives influencing current events in parallel worlds. Rishe's position of power adds complexity to storyline, creating intense dynamics and moral dilemmas seldom seen in traditional isekai. 7th Time Loop innovates both villainess and isekai genres, setting a high standard for future series to follow for more engaging narratives.
Warning: Spoilers for 7th Time Loop episode #107th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! on Crunchyroll is underscoring the best aspects of isekai series that are typical of the 'villainess' subgenre, which can be more effective than the classic 'hero transported to another world' trope. 7th Time Loop' unique formula improves upon the conventions of the villainess genre by strengthening the protagonist's connection to their past live(s) and adds more dynamics to why they want to change certain outcomes.

7th Time Loop offers a fresh twist on the traditional villainess story, allowing both avid fans and those seeking something new to enjoy. Rishe, the protagonist, may not be isekai'd from the real world, but she possesses the same knowledge and experiences as other villainess characters. Despite the unconventional nature of the series, it still falls within the villainess isekai genre, albeit with a unique and interesting story.
Warning: Spoilers for 7th Time Loop!!
7th Time Loop is an adaptation of the light novel series by Touko Amekawa.
The new Crunchyroll series 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! might seem like it would be a conventional villainess isekai just because anything involving a villainess implies such a direction. Even though it's not, 7th Time Loop ironically not only functions but feels like a traditional villainess story. As a result, voracious fans of...

While recent time loop movies like Palm Springs have presented a rather bright and bubbly approach to the concept, The Obituary of Tunde Johnson takes a different path. Directed by Ali LeRoi, the drama follows a Nigerian-American teenager who is pulled over by police, shot to death, and then immediately awakens to relive the same day. Starring Steven Silver, Spencer Neville, Nicola Peltz, Sammi Rotibi, and David James Elliott, the TIFF premiere will now arrive this month and the first trailer has landed.
Jared Mobarak said in his review, “While not in control of the response, Tunde Johnson (Steven Silver) does control the conversation when deciding to come out as gay to his wealthy, Nigerian-born parents the night of his secret boyfriend’s (Spencer Neville’s Soren) birthday. He sits them down, diverts their attention from the busy intellectual discourse that runs through their heads, and says his peace. He...

Early in Natasha Kermani’s surreal and sharply sardonic horror movie Lucky (which I saw at this year’s online-only Fantasia Film Festival), Brea Grant’s sovereign May awakens in the night to find a man outside her window, staring back at her. Petrified, May hisses at her husband Ted (Dhruv Uday Singh) to wake up, telling him there’s […]

Each weekend brings the latest batch of new releases to VOD and the various streaming services competing for both the eyes and wallets of viewers around the world, and the latest offering serves up a more eclectic bunch of titles than usual. One which covers everything from a $200 million epic and a surrealist horror to the usual mix of bargain basement genre flicks and even the return to our screens of Pauly Shore.
The most high-profile release of the weekend is obviously Disney’s Mulan, which has finally arrived six months behind schedule and exclusively to the Mouse House’s streaming platform. Although the calls to boycott the latest live-action remake have resurfaced, there’s no way that Niki Caro’s historical actioner turns out to be anything other than a huge money-spinner, especially when reviews have largely been very positive.
