Can it be 2025 already? Seriously! A24 just released the official trailer for its upcoming dark comedy Death of a Unicorn, and if we weren't excited to see this movie before, we're definitely hooked now!
It stars Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega as a father and daughter duo who find themselves in a really tricky situation after accidentally killing a unicorn. That's an interesting plot, right? There are several more well-known actors in the cast as well that you'll be excited to see, such as Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Jessica Hynes, and Steve Park.
Alex Scharfman wrote, produced, and directed the film, which was his feature directorial debut. He had previously directed only a short film. He's best known for producing movies like Selah and the Spades, Blow the Man Down, Resurrection and House of Spoils. A24 will distribute the dark comedy.

Thirteen months ago, we heard that production had wrapped on an A24 project called Death of a Unicorn (it originally had an E at the end its title), which stars Paul Rudd (Ant-Man franchise) and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), was executive produced by Hereditary/Midsommar/Beau Is Afraid director Ari Aster, and boasts a score composed by the legendary John Carpenter, along with his collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. We’re anxious to see how this one has turned out – and thankfully, we don’t have much longer to wait. A24 will be giving Death of a Unicorn a theatrical release in the spring of 2025, and today they have unveiled a trailer for the film. You can check it out in the embed above.

The 94-year-old June Squibb's new action movie with a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score has become a streaming success. Beginning her career on Broadway in 1959, Squibb's first film role didn't come until the age of 61 in Woody Allen's Alice. During the 1990s and early 2000s, she went on to have supporting roles, but never starring, in Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence, Frank Oz' In & Out, Martin Brest's Meet Joe Black, Alexander Panye's About Schmidt, and Todd Haynes' Far from Heaven.
In 2013, Squibb reunited with director Alexander Payne for Nebraska and broke through in a big way, receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. Between The Bear, The Menu, Boiling Point and now House Of Spoils, it has never looked less appetising to be a chef. What's coming to our screens is back-breaking, stressful work judged by ungrateful customers and snooty critics. As a celebrated New York chef-patron tells us in House Of Spoils’ opening scene, “To be a chef, you've got to love the taste of blood. You've got to love the fight.” And then follows that ominous advice with a line that would have even Remy from Ratatouille abandoning his aprons: “I gotta remember to not just cook with my head but with my balls.”
Unsanitary cooking advice and toxic workplaces aside, things get considerably worse for House Of Spoils’ Chef (Ariana DeBose). Nefarious forces set upon her new rural fine-dining restaurant, and having employees that can't tell a monkfish from a chicken prove to be least of her problems.

A surprisingly clever riff on a familiar recipe, Prime Video’s “House of Spoils” seems like a dark fairy tale you could make better yourself — at first. Part “The Bear” and part “The Witch,” this supernatural horror outing follows a nameless Chef (Ariana DeBose) in an allegory about ambitious women that lacks bite but isn’t without its own special sauce.
Writer/directors Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy broke out with their tenacious crime thriller “Blow the Man Down” in 2019 and show a well-earned confidence in this imperfect but still occasionally enchanting first-time genre effort. The duo’s second feature builds on a bare-bones concept that feels more rudimentary than rustic much of the time, and yet, the filmmakers’ decisive presentation is enjoyable enough as an entrée served straight to streaming.

Plot: Follows an ambitious chef as she opens a restaurant on a remote estate where she battles kitchen chaos, crushing self-doubts… and a haunting presence who threatens to sabotage her at every turn.
Review: The restaurant business is murder. If The Menu and The Bear did not give us enough insight into the stress, anxiety, and sheer psychological warfare of being a chef, Gordon Ramsey and every cooking reality competition should have made it abundantly clear that the artisans that create haute cuisine are emotionally broken by the work they love. The latest Blumhouse offering, House of Spoils, takes the work of starting a restaurant to a new level with a tale of supernatural cookery that may have you rethinking any upcoming reservations at a fine dining establishment. Led by Ariana DeBose, House of Spoils presents a conventional horror yarn through a distinctly epicurean lens.

An ambitious chef (Ariana DeBose) opens her first restaurant in a remote location and faces kitchen chaos, immense self-doubt, and a supernatural presence trying to sabotage her success at every turn. This is the simple, straightforward premise of House of Spoils, written and directed by Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy (Blow the Man Down), with DeBose as the main attraction. I consider DeBose (West Side Story) a versatile artist unafraid to take on roles in new genres, as her career has shown so far, so expectations were mostly positive.

As The Bear regularly commits category fraud to pass off its boiling-over stresses as comedy, House Of Spoils throws an extra ingredient into the heart attack atmosphere of high-end kitchens: a ghost. The haunted restaurant horror tosses plenty into the pot, but the half-developed flavors rest uneasily on the palate.

The latest collaboration between Blumhouse and Amazon, House of Spoils, explores the high stress restaurant environment with a witchy twist. Writer/Directors Bridget Savage Cole & Danielle Krudy (Blow the Man Down) deliver a culinary visual feast when it comes to the food and the inner workings of the kitchen, one that happens to be a little haunted. But don’t expect heavy scares in this feminine horror film that feels more like Hell’s Kitchen meets Practical Magic.

The Virgin River cast includes is full of big TV names, but they've become most recognizable for the characters they play on the iconic show. Continuing the tale of the titular northern Californian town, the show still remains rooted in the personal lives of its intriguing residents. Given that it's a character-driven piece, monitoring the comings and goings of the cast is even more important than other series. Much like the three preceding seasons, Virgin River season 4 was an emotional rollercoaster. While the show focused on multiple different relationships and their impact on the community, there were also numerous dramatic revelations over the course of the 12-episode season.
From the reveal that it was actually Vince who shot Jack, to the discovery that Denny has Huntingdon's disease (potentially paving the way for Virgin River season 5) the story certainly wasn't short of drama. For the most part, the Virgin River cast...

One can’t watch a film like “Medieval” without imagining yourself in a fantastic position. No, you wouldn’t want to be a character in the movie, that’s for sure; they live lives of constant violence, exploitation and conspiracy. But to be one of the Foley artists working on a film with this many brutal battles — clanking on armor, scraping on chain mail, rustling through fresh leaves — that sounds like a delightful time.
“Medieval” struggles as a work of historical fiction, but when the action mounts, it’s immersive and exciting. Ben Foster stars as real-life soldier and strategist Jan Žižka, a Czech national hero who is said to have never lost a battle. The film takes place in Žižka’s relatively early days, when he was working as a mercenary for Lord Boreš (Michael Caine), who is trying to secure the throne of the Holy Roman Emperor for King Wenceslas IV of Bohemia,...

Ah, they grow up so quickly. It seems like only yesterday Ariana DeBose was playing "The Bullet" that inches closer and closer to ending Alexander Hamilton's life over the course of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway smash-hit "Hamilton." Now, she's an Oscar-winning actor thanks to "West Side Story" and is snagging all manner of gigs, from a role on "Westworld" to a part in Sony's Spider-Man Universe with the upcoming "Kraven the Hunter." On top of all that, DeBose is slated to return for even more meta musical mischief in the second season of "Schmigadoon!"
Adding to her workload, DeBose has now lined up a leading role in Blumhouse's "House of Spoils." The original thriller hales from writers and directors Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, the duo behind the splendidly chilly, sea-soaked, Coen Brothers-style crime-comedy "Blow the Man Down."
