There's no doubt that this is the worst series of Taskmaster.
It followed the absolutely hilarious (and arguably the best) series 7 which was a tough act to follow but it really did fail to even live up to weaker series.
The main reason is the contestants. Paul Sinah is funny but dry so if you like that you'll enjoy him (which I did). Joe Thomas is just awkward throughout. Sian Gibson is always lovely but not that funny. Lou Sanders has some funny moments. Finally, Iain Sterling is just insufferable. Always shouting and not listening to others and just angry the whole time. Makes it difficult to watch and kills any comedy.
The audience barely laughs also and the general atmosphere in the studio is nothing like other series. They don't clap several times when a contestant does well because they clearly aren't endeared to any of the contestants.
The Greg/ Alex banter is always funny and true to form but again they seem to only be able to build any rapport with Paul and Sian.
The tasks themselves seem good but wasted on the competitors. I's not blame them if they re-used them in future.
So overall if you're enjoying taskmaster but are daunted by the total number of series then definitely skip this one.
