One of the best comedies for years. I ought to hate two young thugs, their gross attitudes and behaviour. But it was just brilliant. More please!

This episode moved the series up from being an amusing portrayal of Irish teenage scallys growing up to a genuinely emotional journey through loss & love.
Caught me by surprise and I loved it. Laughed & cried.

Watched the movie when it first came out almost 18 months ago, and i thought that was it, and i remember telling myself that this is so good it should become a series on BBC or something, and just like that my wish came true :D
The movie was just amazing and had a big buzz in the UK and Ireland ,, and on the same pace with the same plot, same characters the series just kept up the stroge, fast and amazing comedy, with the same strong hilarious script by Peter Foott, which i believe this project is his first "real" big gig , and man he took this opportunity and owned it.
Apart from the plot, the Cast is still amazing, well engaged and All of them, literally all of them have his/her role to be hilarious . from these two lovable rogues Conor and Jock to the mom, the girls, the school principle , the cop and Billy Murphy , lol ,who poped in the finale :D
The 1st series ended last week, but still no news for renewal ,, yet i wouldn't sweat it, because i have faith in BBC to do the right thing in here ;)

I didn't know about The Young Offenders movie until I seen it pop up on Netflix, Gave it a watch and was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it, but the T.V. show is one of those rear occasions where the spin off is actually better.
The cast are all strong characters and really suck you in , You gain a fondness for them all , The 2 Lads play a blinder and Hillary Rose is absolutely brilliant , it is great to see her finally get the recognition she deserves.Amazing how Cork is such a integral part of the show and P.J. Gallagher is hilarious as always ,I think the whole cast where cast perfectly and all do a excellent job,I have enjoyed previous Michael Doherty work republic of telly and the brilliant Horse Outside ,Rubber Bandits video .
Its on of those rare moments in t.v. where it all works and I didn't think it would.
Id say they had some craic making it as I think that comes across how they all believed in it too.
My Wife and I actually got teary eyed a few times,T.V. at its best
Cant wait for Season 2
My Favorite Irish T.V. show of the year 10 out of 10 You wont be disappointed.

The movie was good. Funny, sad... real.
This dials down the sad a bit and makes it much more enjoyable.

Don't be fooled by the BBC's advertisement of this show it's not a moronic teenagers comedy it's so much more.
This is a well written well crafted comedy with great characters and storylines and is genuinely funny.
Even though they are young petty criminals you will grow to love them trying to get through each episode.
Loved it . 7 out of 10 might be a bit harsh

An absolute gem. I loved the film but this is far better. Give them both a watch you won't regret it!

Irish comedy at its finest. Not only really funny but also heartbreaking at certain points. Well worth a watch.

As another reviewer suggested, the characters depicted in this show seem like they were dropped on their heads at birth. The "antics" (using the phrase very loosely here) could be passable if being played by seven-year-olds in a show aimed at pre-schoolers, but seriously, their intellect makes Ali G seem like a rocket scientist in comparison.
I've known many Irish people, and I've known many English people, and this show smacks of something the English made in an effort to perpetuate the negative tropes aimed squarely at what they consider "the dim Irish."
Pretty pathetic all 'round; I have to wonder what level of intellect one must have to actually find this entertaining.

Wow,
After the first episode I was unsure what to think. I didn't find it particularly funny, some of it was almost cringeworthy but then I kept watching.
This show has incredible depth, humanity, heartwarming moments, drama and comedy all rolled up in the guise of a B grade comedy that disarms you and drags you along for the ride.
Very impressed, this is the epitome of not judging a book by it's cover.

The series is by far, much better than the movie.
It was certainly worthy of several more episodes.
Too bad UK and Irish TV series are so short, especially with coming of age shows where the time limit for actors playing those roles are limited. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest and next season.
Hope it will maintain the it's hilarious quality, then go on to many more seasons that will depict the main characters after graduation or even college and beyond.

I remember watching the movie when it first came out , then recently when I heard that there was going to be a TV series made I was over the moon ,
I find it rare these days that there's actually something really entertaining on tv
specially something I can relate to. going through the similar situations jock and conor face. council estates. the stereotypes in the estates , the attitudes and mistakes made,
I would highly recommend the TV series specially to the early teen to 30s age gaps purely because a lot of people can relate to this. plus Hilary rose / Máiréad MacSweeney is an absolute goddess . she is one beautiful woman.

The Young Offenders - All of it!
From the very simple idea of two schoolboys finding their way from boys to men in Cork city, this series developed into a first rate situation comedy.
What was good
Like Derry girls we had some unique Irish humour and perspectives this time centred around two rogues.
The chemistry between Connor, Jock and Mairead was palpable and the feeling of improvisation, spontaneity and expert comedy timing was inspired.
It was really quite remarkable how Connor and Jock conveyed being thick and yet at the same time discussing the deepest philosophical and existential anxieties of the human condition.
The asides from dance routines, singing, slapstick and group scenes this comedy had it all. Perhaps it is Irish humour but we had situational irony and several forms of self-deprecation all very difficult to pull off.
My favourite character was Principal Barry.
Series 4, despite the absence of jock, Connor McSweeney made this series his own, we had some brilliant comic timing and slapstick humour and my favourite character Connor's mother replaced Principle Walsh, delivered in spades. This really was fabulous from the start to finish. I'm going to give series 4 a firm 10 out of 10 I really laughed out loud so many times.

Surprisingly fun, politically super incorrect, and you find yourself rooting for young delinquents, without judgment, without a sense of responsibility, drug addicts, misfits, but together they are funny notions, and we hope that at the end of the film they learn their lesson and become people better, but they are not bad, just misfits... I already want to try chicken kiev... A lot of fun, sometimes kind of silly, but funny... I loved it... Fofys...

Just watched the entire Season 1 again and laughed just as hard as the first time, something that "Only Fools and Horses" and "Fawlty Towers" has managed so far. Then it hit me! All three series were about the" best laid plans", going gloriously comically wrong.
Solid all round performances from the entire cast, and a real masterclass in mania from Shane Casey as the demented Billy Murphy, who reminds me of yet another TV classic character, "Yosser Hughes" without the pathos.
A series that definitely deserves a better slot in the schedules, though the language compels it's showing after the watershed.

There can't be a better mix of humour and social message at the same time. Perfect cocktail of Irish Bluntness and a peek into the lives of their culture. Watch without a doubt.
