Writer John Musero can proceed with his lawsuit alleging his former CAA agent redeveloped his pilot script for Main Justice with another writer client without his knowledge or permission, a Los Angeles judge has ruled.
Musero in March 2019 sued the agency, along with his former agents Andrew Miller and Leah Yerushalaim. He claims his agents not only failed to properly shop his pilot about the U.S. Attorney General but also later redeveloped it with Jerry Bruckheimer and writer client Sascha Penn and sold it to CBS.

Starz has opted not to proceed with Family Crimes, its drama series project from Suicide Squad writer-director David Ayer, and Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
The pay cable network landed Ayer’s hot spec script in a competitive situation last November with a production commitment. While the project was not formally ordered to series, that was reportedly the intention at Starz, which is in the straight-to-series business. I hear Family Crimes already had a writers room up and running, with writers churning out scripts, and a casting director had been hired and working when Starz on Monday notified the producers of its decision not to move forward with the series, citing creative reasons. There had been some production planning done for the series but no formal production dates had been set yet. (Family Crimes had been eyeing a summer 2018 shoot.)

Television actors in New York City: Are you ready for some good news? After some slow seasons, NYC is now topping the list of locations for new TV pilots. With a total of 12 full-length pilots being shot in the Big Apple this year, including two straight-to-series productions, the city is seeing a boom in filming for the small screen. In a list outlining the locations of television filming, Deadline reported that Los Angeles is runner-up with eight new shows filming there this season. This season’s uptick in shoots in America’s most iconic city—four more than last year—can likely be attributed to New York State’s generous filming tax credit, which was expanded last year. Under the legislation, production companies can get a 30 percent tax credit if they shoot in-state. CBS has the most productions in New York’s current pilot lineup, including “Murphy Brown,” “God Friended Me,...
