On the heels of Harlan Coben's new Netflix show, Missing You, which premiered on New Year's Day, Netflix shared two interesting updates about the cast and filming start of Run Away, one of the upcoming Harlan Coben Netflix shows.
James Nesbitt, who also starred in Missing You and Stay Close, two of the three most recent of Coben's Netflix shows, will star in Run Away. Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver will join Nesbitt, according to Netflix.
In the series, Nesbitt stars as Simon Greene, a father "whose perfect life starts to crumble after his daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange), well, runs away," according to Netflix. The story is based on Coben's 2019 book of the same name, so if you want to find out what happens, that's a good place to start!

For the first time in a long time, Richard Armitage will not be starring in the next Harlan Coben Netflix show.
Netflix just revealed the cast of Run Away, the next of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows. While there are a few who have starred in other Harlan Coben Netflix shows, including James Nesbitt, in the cast, it's notably missing a key player from many of those shows: Armitage.
According to Netflix, Armitage will not be in Run Away. Instead, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Ruth Jones will star in the upcoming thriller based on Coben's book of the same name.
Regarding Armitage's absence in Run Away, Coben told Netflix: “I'm sure we'll work together again in the future.”
In addition to Nesbitt, Driver, Enoch, and Jones, the rest of the cast includes Jon Pointing, Lucian Msamati, Ellie de Lange, Adrian Greensmith, Ellie Henry, Joe McGann, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Amy Gledhill,...

The latest Harlan Coben adaptation, Missing You, was launched early in January on Netflix. As usual with a Coben story-based series, this one is going down a storm. The show is currently number one on the global Netflix viewing list.
It’s another story with Coben’s trademark twists and turns, mystery, and suspense as the story unravels over five episodes. Detective Kat Donovan, played by Rosalind Eleazar, faces up to a series of mysterious and troubling events that become connected. That includes the shooting of her father some years before.
Missing You followed on from the success of Fool Me Once, another Coben story released on Netflix in 2023. Before those we had Safe (2018), The Stranger (2020), and Stay Close (2022). They’ve left us all keen for more from the Coben catalog on our Netflix screens.

A film which has been deservedly lauded on its festival circuit and is inspiring contemplative discussions from the post screening Q&a’s to waiting line’s at the toilets, writer/director Debbie Howard’s Safe is a film whose central tension of an unnerving encounter at a bus stop was drawn from Howard’s and countless other women’s real life experiences. An office cleaner on her way home faces an ambiguous yet immensely unsettling interaction, which upon first glance might not spark anxiety, but for anyone who has experienced that intangible, disquieting feeling sends immediate chills through them. Howard’s film opens up a vital conversation about the subtle but deeply ingrained fears women are forced to contend with regularly in public spaces. By focusing on a situation where no overt crime or aggressive conflict takes place, she immerses audiences in the mounting dread, emphasising how seemingly harmless moments can suddenly turn threatening.

Everyone’s tuning in to Missing You on Netflix, and with only five episodes, it’s quick to binge-watch in no time! If you found yourself hooked on this mystery thriller and are craving more of Harlan Coben’s thrilling storytelling, you're in luck.
This New York Times bestselling author has many other shows similar to Missing You streaming on Netflix. This is due to his overall deal with the streamer, which involves him adapting his books into TV shows and movies for the streaming platform. Missing You is his most recent Netflix series adaptation, but many of his other books have already been turned into shows for the streaming service.
However, that doesn't mean they're all entertaining. We would hate for you to waste your time going through the rest of Coben's collection on Netflix without knowing which ones are truly worth the binge. That's why we're about to...

Harlan Coben's brand-new 2025 Netflix thriller has found itself at the top of the streaming platform's global charts. The American author is one of the most successful mystery-thriller writers in the world, having written more than 30 novels that have collectively sold more than 60 million copies worldwide. 12 of Coben's novels have been adapted for the screen, including The Five, which aired on Sky 1 in the UK, and the one-season hit Shelter, which aired on Prime Video. Coben's stories are known for their mix of interpersonal drama with thriller elements.
Back in 2018, Coben signed a multi-million-dollar, five-year deal with Netflix, under which 14 of his novels would be adapted for the streaming platform across different territories and languages. His debut Netflix show was Michael C. Hall's mystery thriller Safe in May 2018. The psychological thriller series featured the story of a widower father whose daughter goes missing, leading him to discover dark truths.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Missing You.
Netflix’s new Harlan Coben series Missing You repeats one of the most notable complaints from another Coben series, Fool Me Once. After releasing on Netflix on January 1, 2025, Missing You has become one of the most popular new series of the new year. Rosalind Eleazar leads the cast of Missing You alongside Ashley Walters, Mary Malone, Jessica Plummer, Richard Armitage, and Charlie Hamblett. The 5-part series was directed by Nimer Rashed and Isher Sahota.
Missing You is the latest entry to Netflix's Harlan Coben Collection, which also includes The Stranger, Stay Close, Safe, Hold Tight, The Innocent, Gone For Good, and 2024's Fool Me Once. Despite its current popularity on Netflix, Missing You divided critics, earning a score of 52% on Rotten Tomatoes and an eyebrow-raising 27% audience score. One of the major reasons for Missing You's notably low audience score is its numerous plot holes and head-scratching moments.

Harlan Coben’s books have been adapted into several different limited series, with the majority of the author’s works now housed on Netflix. However, the best of Harlan Coben’s TV shows is still Safe, which was one of his first. The show takes place in a rural town in England, where a widowed man named Tom is charged with looking after his two young daughters after their mother’s death. But when one of his girls goes missing, Tom’s world falls apart, and he uncovers the secrets of his gated community.

Celebrated author Harlan Coben is known in the literary world for writing mystery novels with tantalizing characters and premises that challenge readers’ notions of reality. His books have been adapted for the small screen in recent years, mostly through Netflix, many of which have starred actor Richard Armitage in some capacity. As someone whose life is centered around the world of entertainment, I depend on movies and TV shows to stay motivated. It’s not a necessity for these movies and TV shows to be masterpieces; they just need to be entertaining. For example, if I have had an exhausting week, I’m not going to choose something by Hayao Miyazaki, Martin Scorsese, or Mrinal Sen. I’ll definitely be looking for something trashy as a pick-me-up. It’s only when I am feeling really good that I go on a hot streak of 5-star films and shows and experience true bliss. But when it comes to work, you can’t always choose your battles. Sometimes you need to do what needs to be done. And in those moments, you can only pray to the gods of entertainment that you don’t have a Harlan Coben adaptation on the horizon, all...

The Maze Runner: The Death Cure ending brings the trilogy of dystopian YA movies based on James Dashner's novels to a close, though it wasn't always obvious how the various plot threads running through the franchise connected for the finale. Even though the Maze Runner 3 ending explained a lot, it also left behind several questions. The Death Cure is the third and final installment in 20th Century's Maze Runner movie franchise. It follows 2014’s first film and the 2015 sequel Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, wrapping up the stories of Thomas, Newt, and Minho, and their fight against Wckd.
The third movie in the series, based on James Dashner's 2011 novel The Death Cure, arrived in 2018. While the final movie tied up several plot threads, the Maze Runner ending still warrants further explanation, as some of the conclusions in its multi-layered story aren't quite clear on first viewing. “Dexter: Original Sin” brings fans back to the serial killer they all know and (perhaps worth examining) love, but he’s wearing a different face this time around.
No, not literally. Dexter Morgan isn’t that kind of psychopath. He just has urges to kill people, and in the prequel series now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime (premiering on-air on Showtime this Sunday), we see how he learns to deal with those urges, and implement the Code that his father creates for him to do it somewhat safely.
There are plenty of characters you’ll recognize in the series, but all new faces, so let’s run them down, shall we?

Since “Dexter: Original Sin” centers on Dexter Morgan as a teen, Patrick Gibson plays the serial killer this time around. You’ll recognize him from Netflix’s “The Oa” or maybe “Shadow and Bone.

Action movie legend Jason Statham's 2008 sci-fi thriller impresses on its new streaming debut, just four days after switching platforms. Statham shot to fame when he was cast in the role of Bacon in Guy Ritchie's directorial debut, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and paired with him again for a leading role in Snatch. The critical and commercial success of the movies led to him starring in The Transporter trilogy and movies like Crank, The Italian Job remake, Hummingbird, and Safe, further cementing him as one of Hollywood's leading action stars.
Statham has continued to carve out a niche in the action-thriller genre, with a few showings against type, such as a supporting role in the romantic drama London, and a memorable co-starring turn in the action-comedy Spy. Harlen Coben’s Missing You comes to Netflix at the very start of 2025 – and here’s the trailer for the new Netflix production.
The Harlan Coben thriller is quickly becoming its own subgenre. So far, 12 of his high-octane, twisty novels have made their way to the screen. Among the highlights, Tell No One was adapted into a terrific French film of the same name in 2006, directed by Guillaume Canet and starring Francois Cluzet and Kristen Scott Thomas.
On television, The Five, Safe, Innocent, Just One Look, No Second Chance, The Stranger, The Woods, Gone For Good, Stay Close, Hold Me Tight and – most recently – Fool Me Once have all been adapted variously for Channel 5 and Netflix. It’s thanks to the huge success of Fool Me Once, which landed on Netflix last Christmas, that two more adaptations were commissioned.

The first is Missing You. The synopsis for which reads...

For once, a Harlan Coben Netflix series is staying in the good ol’ U-S of A.
Netflix has greenlit an eight-episode adaptation of American thriller/mystery-writer Coben’s novel “I Will Find You.” The Robert Hull-run limited series will mark Coben’s first Netflix adaptation set in the U.S.
“I Will Find You” sees a father serving life in prison after being convicted of murdering his own son. Here’s the deal though: Dad didn’t do it, and the son may still be alive — but not of that can be proven from the inside. Yes, tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak.
Coben will executive produce through his Final Twist Productions; John Weber also executive produces. As do Bryan Wynbrandt and Steven Lilien, who worked with Hull on NBC’s “Quantum Leap” remake.
Coben is one of the most prolific authors out there, and almost certainly Netflix’s number 1 novelist.

Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore has been a cinematic muse for the likes of Todd Haynes, Paul Thomas Anderson, Robert Altman, Alfonso Cuaron, David Cronenberg and the Coen Brothers, to name but a few. But how many of her films are classics? Let’s take a look back at 17 of her greatest roles, ranked worst to best.
Moore became a darling of independent cinema with appearances in such films as “Short Cuts” (1993), “Vanya on 42nd Street” (1994), and “Safe” (1995). It didn’t take long for Oscar voters to notice her talents, and the Academy rewarded her with four nominations in quick succession: Best Actress for “The End of the Affair” (1999) and “Far From Heaven” (2002); Best Supporting Actress for “Boogie Nights” (1997) and “The Hours” (2002). Her two bids in 2002 put her in an elite group of performers to receive lead and supporting citations in the same year.

In 2011, when Shadows of the Damned first released, it received a lukewarm reception. Although it wasn’t an outright bad game, it failed to live up to the potential of the majorly respected names that were attached to it. Friedrich Nietzsche once said that, “time is a flat circle,” and that has been proven yet again by Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. This is a pretty mediocre remaster that fails to live up its potential.

Few actors are as endlessly versatile and compelling as Julianne Moore. Ahead of her extraordinary performance in the latest Pedro Almodóvar film, she opens up about love, death and the complexity and richness of ordinary lives
Yesterday Julianne Moore was on the subway in New York, listening discreetly to strangers. “I was sitting there and I heard one woman say, ‘Well, I know that’s exactly what you’d do, I know that’s what you’re like.’ And the other woman said, ‘It’s true, I just don’t like confrontation, I don’t!’” Perhaps it’s distracting, the idea that Moore, not only an Oscar-winning actor, but one whose airy beauty and long red hair makes her one of the most recognisable people in the world, could pass unnoticed through a carriage of chattering commuters. But please remember – or trust me – that part of Moore’s talent is the ability to transform,...

Debuting feature film directors Karrie Crouse and Will Joines describe their cinematic inspirations for Hold Your Breath as a bit of Kubrick’s The Shining and The Others with the visual panache of Malick’s Days of Heaven. After seeing the Searchlight film, which had its world premiere as one of the Toronto Film Festival’s Special Presentations last month and will begin streaming Friday on Hulu, I thought more of another movie, now 40 years old. Places in the Heart won Sally Field a second Oscar (“You really like me!”) as a widow in Depression-era North Texas trying to survive the elements threatening her farm and her two young children.
I also thought a bit about the great Todd Haynes 1995 drama Safe, with Julianne Moore hiding behind a gas mask to avoid the dangers in our environment. This film falls short of those but is memorable enough to make an impression all its own.

Exclusive: Harlan Coben and Nicola Shindler have flagged a “shared vision” and “hybrid British-American sensibilities” as leading to the success of Fool Me Once, Netflix’s most-watched show in the first half of this year.
The showrunner-producer pair chatted to Deadline in advance of the latest data dump, which saw their fourth Netflix UK Coben adaptation top the charts with more than 100 million views in the first half of this year. And it’s been a good day for the Brits, with Bridgerton, Baby Reindeer and The Gentlemen backing up Fool Me Once in the top four and One Day also making the top 10. Ted Sarandos was in London earlier this week trumpeting the Brits’ success.
With the show having launched nearly a year ago, Coben cited a “shared vision” between himself, Shindler, writer Danny Brocklehurst, producer Richard Fee and Netflix as contributing to its runaway success.
