Petzi, Pingo and Pelle find Old Salt shipwrecked on the beach and decide to help him build a new ship. But when Pingo and Pelle realize that Petzi wants join Old Salt on the sea, they're shaken. They don't want to lose their friend.
Full speed ahead, the good ship Mary ends up on top of a whale. Wallerie refuses to dive and let the crew go, insisting she's an island. Petzi, Pingo, Pelle and Old Salt need to find out what happened to the young whale.
The crew meets Osram, a terribly forgetful elephant in a bathtub, who can't even that Pelle is a bird. Determined to prove that he is, indeed a bird, Pelle tries to show off his flying skills. Things don't go as planned.
