After nearly two years, “Industry” is back for a third season. And this time around, the HBO drama is chronicling a financial saga that will pull its antiheroes into the upper echelons of the financial, political and media worlds.

Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, “Industry” first premiered in 2020 as a steamy and high-stakes drama about a group of new hires at a top-tier London bank. Not all of those newbies lasted, but Down and Kay have found new ways to dive into this ever-stressful world. Gupta is known for roles such as in Prime Video series Four More Shots Please, the first series out of Indian with an all-female protagonist line-up. Dubbed ‘the desi Sex and the City‘ by Indian press, the show follows four young women in millennial Mumbai.

She also starred in Inside Edge, Prime Video’s first Hindi-language original. The cricket drama was released back in 2017 and starred the likes of Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha and Tanuj Virwani.

A TV documentary titled Barbie Uncovered and an adaptation of Homer’s classic The Odyssey starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche are among the titles to receive cash during the latest round of U.K. Global Screen Fund awards.

Financed through the UK government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (Dcms), the latest round handed out over £1.2 million in cash awards through the fund’s International Co-production strand, supporting UK producers to work as partners on international co-productions. To date, the strand has now awarded over £5 million to 33 co-productions.

This latest round of awards sees the UK co-producing with 12 territories and will be the first time the fund has supported collaborations with India and Finland. The funding will also support partnerships with Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Ireland, Canada, and New Zealand.

Radia is best known for his role in the HBO / BBC series, Industry, in which he plays the scene-stealing role of Rishi Ramdani. Previous to this he starred in three seasons of ITV/Tiger Aspects ratings hit, The Good Karma Hospital. Within theatre, Radia was also seen on the West End stage at the Trafalgar Studio’s in The Spoils opposite Jesse Eisenberg and Alfie Allen.

He is currently filming for Season 3 of Industry, and will next be seen in Sally El Hosaini’s feature film, Unicorns, which is slated to release later this year.

Banijay company Tiger Aspect has promoted head of drama Lucy Bedford to managing director, reporting into Banijay U.K. CEO Patrick Holland.

Bedford, who takes up her new role immediately, has appointed Gabriel Silver, previously director of commissioning, drama at Sky studios, as creative director, drama.

Bedford will be responsible for the creative leadership of the business, working closely with head of comedy, David Simpson and Silver, to build the slate of the scripted indie whose credits include “Peaky Blinders,” “Bad Education,” “Domina,” “Man Like Mobeen” and the upcoming “Three Little Birds.”

Credits for Bedford, who has been instrumental in building up the drama slate and evolving the company’s drama strategy over the past three years, include “The Good Karma Hospital” and “Litvinenko.”

Itvx and Viaplay four-partner Litvinenko, which will see David Tennant playing the doomed Russian dissident, has sold into 80 territories ahead of its launch. AMC+ and Sundance Now have taken rights in the U.S., while Prime Video bagged Canada from distributor ITV Studios.

Cinematographer Pushan Kripalani returns to the director’s chair with “Goldfish,” seven years after his acclaimed directorial debut “The Threshold.”

In the film, Anamika, a half-Indian half-English woman, returns home to the U.K. to deal with her mother’s dementia and the scars of her childhood. The cast includes Kalki Koechlin (“Sacred Games”), veteran Deepti Naval (“The Good Karma Hospital”), Gordon Warnecke (“Venus”), Rajit Kapur (“Rocket Boys”) and Bharti Patel (“The Undeclared War”).

“It’s very difficult to make independent cinema, as it does not get funded easily and so it’s taken me this long to get to make this film. The series from “Independence Day” producer and writer Dean Devlin, is set 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions begin to ensure the survival of the human race. Bridgerton season one arrived on December the 25th 2020 like a highly decorated Christmas gift. Unwrapped, it was a perfect confection of untaxing indulgence, romance and escapism. It told the story of Daphne and Simon, a debutante beauty and an emotionally repressed Duke who teamed up to get everybody off their backs, and who ended up getting on their own backs, and fronts, and sides, and – if I remember this correctly – halfway up the stairs and possibly at one point, a ladder? The film is to be directed by BAFTA-winning Welsh director Philip John, whose credits include “Downton Abbey” and “The Good Karma Hospital.”

The film is produced by Sunitha Tati’s Indian outfit Guru Films, whose “Oh! Baby,” the 2019 Telugu-language adaptation of 2014 Korean film “Miss Granny,” was a commercial success. “Oh! Baby” starred Samantha, who is known by just her first name.

The actor won much acclaim for her antagonist’s role in the second season of Amazon Prime Video series “Family Man,” which began streaming earlier this year. Banijay UK is launching a scripted label led by Intergalactic and Good Karma Hospital producer Iona Vrolyk.

Vrolyk, who has been a development exec for Banijay-owned Peaky Blinders producer Tiger Aspect since 2013, will launch Double Dutch with immediate effect.

The label is targeting popular, character-led returning series and will link up with key collaborators such as showrunner Julie Gearey, with whom Vrolyk has worked on Sky One’s Intergalactic and ITV2’s mid-2000s show Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

Vrolyk said the pair already have “exciting developments underway.”

Ever since his international breakout role in Sally El Hosaini’s “My Brother The Devil” (2012), where he played the role of a teenager facing prejudice on the streets of gangland London, actor James Krishna Floyd has made a mark with an astonishing diversity of roles.

For “My Brother The Devil,” Floyd won most promising newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards, was selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit and won best actor at the Milan International Film Festival.

Of mixed English and Indian Tamil heritage, Floyd began with a solid grounding in theater and landed his first starring role in “Everywhere and Nowhere” (2011), where he played a British-Pakistani torn between honoring his family traditions and a love for music.

It goes without saying that the pandemic is keeping everyone stuck inside with little to do besides watch television, play video games, and read. Here’s some great news, though: There’s plenty coming to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime in May, so put away the books and the games, and get ready to binge some excellent shows and films.

On Netflix, you can catch some notable comedy entries next month like the Jim Carrey-led Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Fun with Dick and Jane, while action-horror fans may be delighted to hear that multiple Underworld films will be dropping on the service. The lesser-known Jarhead trilogy will be available on the 1st, and the first two pics in the Back to the Future trilogy will join the third film for streaming. Though much of the entertainment industry is currently paralyzed by Coronavirus and the lockdowns imposed to curb its spread, streaming services are now making out like bandits. The BBC hosted the UK version of the One World: Together At Home concert on Sunday night, bringing a British twist to proceedings by supplementing performances from Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga with turns from Little Mix and Tom Jones.

The two-hour broadcast on BBC One was produced by ITV Studios-owned Twofour and presented by Dermot O’Leary, Claudia Winkleman and Clara Amfo from a studio in the UK. Production on fantasy epic “The Witcher” Season 2 has commenced in the U.K., with a planned launch in 2021, Netflix announced.

The show also announced seven new cast members joining “The Witcher” for S2, including Kristofer Hivju, the Norwegian actor who played the red-bearded wilding leader Tormund Giantsbane on “Game of Thrones.”

Netflix last month claimed “The Witcher” Season 1 was tracking to be its biggest original TV series debut to date. However, that’s according to a new metric invented by the company that found 76 million member households watched at least 2 minutes of the show in the first four weeks after its Dec. 20 release.

David Glasser’s 101 Studios and U.K. indie producer Seven Seas Films are partnering to co-produce drama series “The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe,” detailing the turbulent final months of the star’s life before her death in 1962.

Based on Keith Badman’s provocative tell-all “The Final Years of Marilyn Monroe: The Shocking True Story,” the series marks the first-ever film or TV project to be endorsed by Authentic Brands Group (Abg), owner of the Marilyn Monroe Estate. Seven Seas Films optioned the rights to the book in 2017.

Scripted by writer and Seven Seas Films co-founder Dan Sefton, “The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe” will take a sympathetic yet hard-hitting look at the star’s complicated, explosive real-life story. Marilyn Monroe’s turbulent final months before her death in 1962 are to be the subject of a drama series from 101 Studios and UK producer Seven Seas Films, titled The Last Days Of Marilyn Monroe.

In what is being pitched as the first “tell-all” authorized by the Marilyn Monroe estate owner Authentic Brands Group, The Mallorca Files scribe Dan Sefton will adapt Keith Badman’s book The Final Years Of Marilyn Monroe: The Shocking True Story. Seven Seas optioned the novel in 2017.

It will transport viewers back to a time when Monroe found herself caught between the warring factions of the Mafia, the Kennedy political dynasty and the Hollywood elite. Sefton, who co-founded Seven Seas, said the story will be told with “compassion and sensitivity.”

101 Studios CEO David Glasser added: “Keith Badman has uncovered gems of never before released details, centered around the last few months of her sensationalized life and the accusations made.

Marilyn Monroe has now been portrayed onscreen in practically as many titles as she herself starred in. Adding to the selection is BBC Studios with a forthcoming series about the events leading up to the iconic actress's death at 36 from a barbiturate overdose in 1962. Tentatively titled The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe, the limited series will be partly informed by Keith Badman's 2010 biography The Final Years of Marilyn Monroe.

Written by Dan Sefton, who previously created UK medical dramas Trust Me and The Good Karma Hospital, the series will look at Monroe's career aspirations and frustration over being typecast, as well as her highly publicized romantic relationships and rumored affairs with John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.

BBC Studios, the BBC’s production and commercial arm, has teamed up with Dan Sefton and Simon Lupton’s U.K. indie producer Seven Seas Films to develop the new show. It has the working tile “The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe” and will be based on parts of Keith Badman’s book “The Final Years of Marilyn Monroe: The Shocking True Story.”

Monroe, who died in 1962 at age 36, remains the subject of enduring fascination. The producers said the series would cover a period in which her behavior became increasingly erratic as her dependence on alcohol and medication caused her glittering film career to plunge.

Acorn TV has acquired Dutch disappearance drama The Oldenheim Twelve from Endemol Shine International.

The North American Svod service has picked up the twelve-part series, which was originally commissioned by Dutch broadcaster RTL4.

The show, which was written by Lex Passchier and Martin van Steijn and directed by Anne van der Linden, tells the story of the disappearance of a teenage girl, which in turn leads to a series of bizarre experiences. After 16-year-old Nine disappears one summer evening, a second inhabitant of Oldenheim disappears and it doesn’t stop there, with several other people from the village community disappearing. Is there a serial killer at large or is something supernatural going on? RTL4 has already ordered a second season.

The U.S. deal was struck by Matt Creasey, Evp Sales and Acquisitions, while Endemol Shine International has also sold the drama to Wowwow in Japan and Showjet and Ivi.
