The general tone of the movie is very surreal. The characters act very strange and deliver their lines very monotone which makes the film feel emotionally off.
The entire film feels very uncomfortable, the lines are purposely delivered in a strange way and the strange shots make everything feel off. It can be creepy.
In one scene, Steven attempts to force feed his son. This and the theme of characters refusing to eat may be triggering for some.
Overall a very weird and disturbing movie.
It is a thoroughly disturbing movie that explores the damage that curses can bring to a family.
