Exclusive: SNL alum Taran Killam has been tapped for a major recurring role opposite Kaitlin Olson in Drew Goddard’s ABC drama series High Potential.
Killam will play Ludo Radovic, the salt-of-the-earth, kind-hearted, and disarmingly funny ex of Morgan (Olson) and the father of Elliott (Matthew Lamb) and Chloe. As she consults for the LAPD, Morgan heavily leans on Ludo as the primary caregiver for Ava (Amira J), Elliott, and Chloe.
High Potential, from ABC Signature, follows Morgan (Olson), a single mom with three kids and an exceptional mind, who helps solve an unsolvable crime when she rearranges some evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department. When they discover she has a knack for putting things in order because of her high intellectual potential, she is brought on as a consultant to work with a by-the-book seasoned detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), and together they form an unusual and unstoppable team.

Last Action Hero underperformed despite its great comedy elements and clever satire of the action genre. Schwarzenegger's comedic timing shines, but not all his comedy movies hit the mark like Last Action Hero. The movie's meta humor and self-awareness have since influenced modern blockbusters, making it ahead of its time.
While one of Arnold Schwarzeneggers biggest action movies should have been a hit, the famous flop Last Action Hero instead underperformed even though it was secretly great. Not all of Arnold Schwarzeneggers comedy movies work. The actor has some great comedic timing, but the basic premise of a big brawny action hero showing up where hes not expected isnt always enough to carry an entire movie. For every Twins, there is a Junior, and for every hit like Kindergarten Cop, there is a miss like 2017's Killing Gunther. Despite this, I wish the screen veterans most overlooked comedy was better received.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a significant cultural force in Hollywood for more than 40 years, taking time out to launch a political career and generally conquer the world during that time. After becoming arguably the greatest bodybuilder to ever do it, Arnie parlayed his bodybuilding fame into Hollywood stardom, becoming one of the biggest action stars in the industry. Not bad for a guy who started out driving tanks in the Austrian army.
Now, Netflix will tell the man's incredible life story in a three-part documentary series that promises to chart Schwarzenegger's journey "from rural Austria to the highest echelons of the American dream."
The streamer has released a trailer for "Arnold," which is set to debut next month and promises to unveil previously unseen footage of the Austrian Oak, alongside candid interviews with Schwarzenegger and various friends. Allison Tolman has been cast in “St. Denis Medical,” a comedy pilot at NBC from “Superstore” and “American Auto” creator Justin Spitzer.
The pilot is described as a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where the dedicated doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity.
Tolman will play Alex, the supervising nurse in St. Denis’ emergency department who is dedicated to providing excellent care to her patients, often sacrificing her personal life to maintain her high standards.
Tolman recently held the recurring role of Winnie McLendon in “Gaslit,” the Starz limited series based on the Watergate scandal. She is also known for starring as Molly Solverson in Season 1 of FX’s “Fargo,” which earned her a Critics Choice Award as well as nominations for an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Her other TV credits include “Why Women Kill” on Paramount+ and ABC’s “Emergence” and “Downward Dog.

If you’ve been putting off watching the terrifically adventurous Brendan Fraser-led “The Mummy” again, now’s the time to prioritize it. The 1999 film is one of a bevy of movies leaving HBO Max in June, the full list of which you can read below.
Also leaving HBO and HBO Max this month is a bevy of Tyler Perry’s Madea movies, “Rounders,” “She’s All That” and “Real Steel.”
If you’re looking to prioritize some selections, “Presumed Innocent” is one of Harrison Ford’s most underrated films (featuring one of his best performances) and the Melissa McCarthy/Jason Bateman comedy “Identity Thief” is good for some solid laughs.

Exclusive: Freevee, Amazon’s ad-supported video streaming service is developing Arranged, a half-hour single-camera romantic comedy series co-written and executive produced by With Love creator Gloria Calderón Kellett and Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam. The project stems from Kellett’s GloNation Studios under the company’s overall deal with Amazon Studios.
Arranged follows a self-destructive movie star (Killam) and an ambitious pop Latina diva who agree to a mutually beneficial “public relationship” in order to help sell her upcoming breakup album and save his declining career, a decision they immediately regret as they quickly realize they hate each other’s guts.
The series is fictional but there are obvious points of reference: the high-profile romances between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck as well as Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson.
Kellett and Killam will executive produce with Marc Provissiero (Pen15) for Kellett’s GloNation banner as part of her Amazon Studios deal.

The streaming wars are just as fiery and competitive as ever. Disney+ now has one Marvel TV show under its belt (WandaVision), with another one to come in March (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier). In response, Netflix is broadening its reach with its list of new releases for March 2021.
Netflix always features plenty of international options for viewers across the globe, but March is the first month where it seems as though international releases make up roughly half of Netflix’s originals. And that’s great! China’s The Yin Yang Master and Spain’s Coven of Sisters both look to be intriguing films this month.

Arnold Schwarzenegger “feels fantastic” after undergoing heart surgery to replace an aortic valve — the second time that he’s had heart surgery in the past two years.
The 73-year-old actor/politician announced his recovery via Twitter on Friday afternoon with a photo from his hospital bed and noted that he’s been walking the streets of Cleveland following the operation. He did not disclose when the surgery took place.
“Thanks to the team at the Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery,” Schwarzenegger said. “I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying your amazing statues. Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team!”

Arnold Schwarzenegger has pretty much seen and done it all during his lengthy and legendary career, but one thing that’s always been missing is a starring role in a TV series. The first of the month is always a big day for streaming services, as that’s when the bulk of their new content for that month tends to hit, with the rest being dished out in small batches over the following weeks. That’s especially true for Netflix, who kicked off June with a massive helping of fresh movies and TV shows on the 1st, and followed it up with a handful of new releases in the days after.
In fact, there were a whopping total of 64 new films and 18 new TV series that arrived on the streaming site this week, and the full list can be found down below:

Ever since making his return to acting following a stint as the 38th Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to have been having more fun than usual, as well as attempting to branch out and tackle the kind of roles that were a rarity during the height of his success as one of the biggest movie stars the business had ever seen.
His comeback vehicle The Last Stand is a sorely undervalued gem, while his tongue-in-cheek cameos in The Expendables franchise saw him having an absolute blast as his character Trench turned out to show more self-awareness than his Terminator ever could. Obviously, the big Austrian has also reprised his signature role twice in Genisys and Dark Fate, but following the fourth disappointing sequel in a row, it appears as though the franchise may finally be done for good this time.

Earlier this week, Netflix responded to the cultural sub-currents that currently define life in America by adding two of Spike Lee’s greatest films – Malcolm X and Inside Man – to its online roster. Although June 3rd will not see the arrival of movies that are quite as socially appropriate, there are still three great titles which subscribers can now access today.

Netflix has confirmed that 47 new original movies, series, documentaries and specials will be debuting on the streaming service in June. Leading off the lineup are the debut of “Da 5 Bloods,” a film by Oscar winner Spike Lee about four Vietnam vets revisiting their past, and the second season of Ryan Murphy‘s satire “The Politician.” And just in time for Pride is season 5 of “Queer Eye.”
The documentary slate is filled with such varied films as “Spelling the Dream” about the Scripps National Spelling Bee, “Lenox Hill” about the staff of the famed New York hospital, and “Athlete A” about the sexually abuse scandal that rocked the Us gymnastics team

As the summer begins to roll in it’s a time of endings for Netflix. No, Netflix isn’t going anywhere anytime soon obviously. The streamer continues to claim that its set up to churn out content through the rest of the year despite the coronavirus pandemic freeze on TV and movie production. Netflix’s new releases for June 2020, however, are highlighted by a couple of high profile finales.
13 Reasons Why premieres its fourth and final season on June 5. Before that, Fuller House is set to bow on June 2…though that franchise has been through the finale experience before so we’ll see about that. The Netflix original shows that are (presumably) in the middle of their run this month include Queer Eye (June 5), F is for Family, and The Politician (June 19).

With the lockdown continuing for the time being, most of us are still looking to streaming services to provide new – or at least, new old – content to hoover up while we’re stuck indoors. If you’ve already watched most of what Netflix has to offer you in May, however, don’t worry, as the site has got you covered for the following month as well, as the full list of what’s coming to Netflix in June has now been revealed.
To begin with, brand new movies and TV shows that are arriving on the service over the course of next month include new episodes of Queer Eye, The Politician and Dating Around and highly anticipated films like Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, based-on-a-true-story drama Wasp Network, starring Penelope Cruz, Edgar Ramirez and Ana de Armas, and comedy Eurovision, featuring Will Ferrell, Rachel McAdams and Dan Stevens.

If you’ve been on a Netflix binge-watching streak amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and are starting to feel worried about running out of things to stream, you’ll be glad to get a first look at the amazing line-up of TV shows and movies that the company is set to add to its library in June.
As if Netflix wasn’t already popular enough, they’ve stood to gain a lot of profit from the current outbreak of the Covid-19. With hundreds of millions of people around the globe self-isolating at home, it only makes sense that they’ve turned to streaming platforms to alleviate their boredom. Over the last couple of years, the likes of Amazon Prime, Hulu and HBO Now have upped the ante to seriously compete with Netflix, but if it’s variety you seek, then it’ll be quite a while before another service manages to dethrone the juggernaut.

Welcome to The B-Side, a new podcast from The Film Stage. Here we explore movies starring established stars that flopped at the box office, have been forgotten by time, or remain hidden gems. These aren’t the films that made them famous or kept them famous. These are the other ones. So strap in and listen close as we dive into the big swings and big misses from some of the biggest names in the business. In the latest episode, Dan Mecca is joined by podcast producer Conor O’Donnell and Cory Everett, creator of Cinephile: A Card Game (coming out summer 2019), to discuss the b-sides of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The films discussed include End Of Days, The 6th Day and Collateral Damage. Plenty more is explored, including Barbra Streisand’s cloned dogs (for real), that embarrassing final line in The World Is Not Enough, and those unforgettable puns from Batman & Robin.

ABC has ordered a pilot for an untitled single-camera comedy from Hannah Simone.
The “New Girl” alum will star in, write, and executive produce the project, which is inspired by Simone’s family. In the series, Hannah (Simone) and her Indian-American immigrant father have always been close, but after she admits to herself that she’s in a dead-end job and he reveals his marriage is over, they’re starting over together and each finding a new path. This new chapter will either make them crazy close or just crazy.
Along with Simone, Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson will also write and executive produce. ABC Studios will produce. Fusfeld and Cuthbertson are currently under an overall deal at the studio.
The pilot keeps Simone in business with ABC, with the actress having starred in the “Greatest American Hero” reboot that went to pilot at the broadcaster last season. That pilot...

Hannah Simone has set up a comedy project with a put pilot commitment at ABC, Variety has learned.
The “New Girl” alum will star in, write, and executive produce the untitled single camera project, which is inspired by Simone’s non-traditional Indian family. It follows a woman (Simone) who is broke, single, and nearly 30-something, as she and her father form a new bond when her father announces that he and her mother are separating.
Along with Simone, Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson will also write and executive produce. ABC Studios will produce. Fusfeld and Cuthbertson are currently under an overall deal at the studio.
The project keeps Simone in business with ABC, with the actress having starred in the “Greatest American Hero” reboot that went to pilot at the broadcaster last season. The pilot generated considerable buzz and was said to be well received at ABC, but was ultimately passed over.

Saturday Night Live too easy on Donald Trump? Just the suggestion might send Maga hats exploding into the sky, but former cast member Taran Killam says executive producer Lorne Michaels was once intent on making the pre-White House Trump “likable.”
Long before Alec Baldwin puckered up for his orange-faced SNL Trump portrayal, Michaels was trying to get the then-candidate to guest-host the show, recalls Killam on Matt Gourley’s Earwolf podcast I Was There Too.
“Lorne was being so specific about what we could and couldn’t say about [Trump], and he was dictating a lot of the settings.” Killam says (listen below) about a proposed sketch mocking a CNN interview with the candidate.
“Lorne was like, ‘It’ll be too old news by then, and you know, you don’t want to vilify him. He’s like any New York taxi driver. I know him, I’ve seen him around...

The summer of 1993 felt like a high stakes cinematic card trick. A full deck of superstars was roughly shuffled so that by summer’s end, some kings ended up as jokers and many a knave turned over a sweet ace. Bluffs were called, some royal flushes turned up out of nowhere, and in the end the whole table was kicked over by a T-Rex, sending all the chips flying.
This week we will once again see a merry band of naive, edible human beings sharing the screen with monstrous dinosaurs as Jurassic World returns with Fallen Kingdom. In the movie review business, you see films that make you think and inspire you to greater things. There are films that leave you with your jaw dropped in absolute shock and disgust, wondering how anyone would loan the filmmakers money to finish something so terrible. And then, there’s the stuff that makes you chuckle, even as you sit there and think of how silly and ridiculous it all is. Guess which category Killing Gunther lands in?
Taran Killam (one of the more recent Saturday Night Live (SNL) alumni to dip his toes in the movie waters) pulls triple duty as director, writer, and lead, playing Blake, a hitman who has hired a camera crew to document his journey to kill the best hitman on Earth, Gunther, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear at first. Along with a cadre of fellow hitmen (including fellow SNL player Bobby Moynihan), they feel victory is assured,...

Only in his hilariously taunting online videos addressed to Donald Trump does Arnold Schwarzenegger seem to be having more fun than in Taran Killam's violence-infused mockumentary Killing Gunther. Playing the titular role of Gunther, a legendary hitman, the veteran action star clearly relishes the opportunity to sing country music, pose in lederhosen and deliver such lines as "My cappuccino is to die for." Unfortunately, Schwarzenegger doesn’t show up until more than an hour into this relentlessly unfunny comedy, and by then, viewers may have tuned out long before.

Talk about biting the hand that fed you. Former “Saturday Night Live” star ripped his former show’s constant digs at President Donald Trump after inviting him on set as a guest host in 2015 during the campaign. “It certainly feels like there’s some hypocrisy there,” Killam told NPR in an interview to promote his upcoming movie “Killing Gunther.” “I guess you could say, ‘Oh, they’re righting wrongs.’ And I don’t even think it’s righting wrongs,” said Killam, who was released a year early by NBC and producer Lorne Michaels from his his seven-year contract. “The show tries to — and in particular,...

Plot: A motley crew of assassins team-up to take down the world’s greatest hit-man, Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Review: Writer-director-star Taran Killam has his heart in the right place. An avowed action fanboy with a love of James Bond and the action Gods of the eighties, Killing Gunther is his attempt at a globe-trotting action romp, with himself as the star. He plays a goofy, but not... Read More...

I've actually been really curious about Taran Killam's feature debut Killing Gunther starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It has a pretty outlandish plot - "a group of eccentric assassins are fed up with Gunther (Scwarzenegger), the world's greatest hitman, and decide to kill him, but their plan turns into a series of bungled encounters as Gunther seems to always be one... Since earning an Emmy nomination for her breakout role as Deputy Molly Solverson on the first season of Noah Hawley’s FX anthology series, Fargo, Allison Tolman has taken pains not to pigeonhole herself. But there is a common thread to her roles; she plays an "everywoman" just trying to live her life until she gets dropped into extraordinary circumstances.
When Tolman hears that description, she laughs with sudden recognition that, yes, certain roles appeal to her more than others. "I guess I'm not offered a lot of superheroes," she tells Et. "I tend to be drawn to the roles where women are the heroes of their own story, and most of those women are real women. They are just trying to get through the day and hold down a job. I think that that's enough of a challenge."
