Timothy Olyphant is the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series “Lucky.”
Variety has learned that Olyphant has joined the series alongside previously announced lead Anya Taylor-Joy as well as recently announced cast member Annette Bening.
“Lucky” is based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. The book was a New York Times bestseller and a selection for Reese Witherspoon’s Reese’s Book Club. Per the official description, Taylor-Joy stars as “a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”
Olyphant will play John, Lucky’s father.
This marks the second Apple series in which Olyphant will appear. Variety exclusively reported that he will star in an upcoming golf comedy series at the streamer alongside Owen Wilson.

Drew Barrymore credits 1994’s Western action flick Bad Girls with changing her life at 16 years old.
In a recent episode on The Drew Barrymore Show, the host reunited with co-star Andie MacDowell and the two reminisced about the film (which also featured Madeleine Stowe and Mary Stuart Masterson) about four brothel workers on the lam after a justifiable homicide and who set out in search for a better life in the Wild West.
“When we did Bad Girls, I was 16. I was such a dumbass,” Barrymore said, to which MacDowell responded, “Oh my God, you were so beautiful and so good.”
The Charlie’s Angels star continued, “I always talk about how much it changed my life. If I hadn’t done that film, there’s no way I’d be sitting here right now because it was that film that showed me if you care about something, be involved.

Some shows get canceled. Life happens. Even the ones we love. Just look at the brilliance that was Northern Exposure, which has only recently been available via streaming. It was a quirky series that surprisingly never got made. It would be better if released now than it was in the 1990s.
But Santa Clarita Diet? It was a bit ahead of its time. Sort of. Zombie comedies work mostly when they are films instead of series. The show starred Drew Barrymore and she is great in nearly anything, and she was good in this Netflix show, too. But just because Barrymore has a cult following and the series had a cult following does not mean Netflix was going to keep it on.
Look, as great as Tom Waits is as a musician and artist, record companies are not going to pay him a higher amount than lesser artists like Nickelback to stay on their dime.

Santa Clarita Diet creator Victor Fresco recalls the heartbreaking way he learned of the show's cancellation. Debuting in February 2017, and running for three seasons on Netflix, Santa Clarita Diet focuses on a married couple that is regular in every way except for one crucial detail. The wife, Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore), begins to crave human flesh. The horror sitcom also starred Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson, and Skyler Gisondo. As one of the relatively early streaming series, prior to the arrival of Disney+ and Apple TV+, the comedy was met with solid initial reactions and garnered largely positive reviews.
In a feature for The Guardian, which looks at TV show cancellations and how the creators responded, Fresco details his decision to end Santa Clarita Diet on a cliffhanger. He explained that he had a feeling that Netflix would cancel the series and didn't want to make that decision any easier:

Linda Lavin, star of CBS’ long-running sitcom “Alice” and a Tony winner for Neil Simon’s play “Broadway Bound” who remained active in TV and on stage, died Sunday. She was 87.
A representative for Lavin confirmed the actress died unexpectedly Sunday due to complications from lung cancer that had been recently discovered. As recently as Dec. 4, Lavin attended the premiere of Netflix’s dark comedy series “No Good Deed” at the streamer’s Tudum Theater in Hollywood.
Lavin was also ready to co-star with Matt Bomer and Nathan Lane in the upcoming Hulu comedy “Mid-Century Modern,” which is in the midst of filming its first season. The show hails from “Will & Grace” creators/executive producers David Kohan and Max Mutchnick and director-producer James Burrows for 20th Television.
“Working with Linda was one of the highlights of our careers. She was a magnificent actress, singer, musician and a heat seeking missile with a joke.

"Bones" was led by David Boreanez and Emily Deschanel as FBI agent Seeley Booth and forensic anthropologist Temperance "Bones" Brennan, respectively. But while this duo were the core of the series, no TV show can last a full 12 seasons without some support from other cast members. In the case of "Bones," the Fox procedural was undergirded by a wide array of supporting characters and guest stars who helped to give the series its enduring appeal. Alongside the team of "squints" at the fictional Jeffersonian Institute Medico-Legal Lab — the idea for which was brought to the show by a real detective — there was an array of guest stars who helped expand the "Bones" universe, many of whom became fan-favorites.

The best Natalie Morales movies and TV shows feature several big movies and even more television series in which she became a popular actor and a familiar face. Morales got her start with a television guest role on CSI: Miami, and two years later, she had a lead role in the sci-fi comedy-drama called The Middleman. This allowed her to attract a lot of attention from casting agents, and she ended up picking up guest roles on several TV shows and then signed on to star in some of TV's top shows.

Peacock's upcoming The Office reboot has added three new cast members to its roster. The project, which is currently untitled, will be set in the same universe as the hit NBC sitcom and follow a new cast of characters. Whereas the original show covered the employees of a regional paper company, the Office reboot will be centered on the people trying to keep a dying newspaper alive; the connective tissue between the two is the documentary crew filming everything, who have now found their latest subjects after covering Dunder Mifflin's story.
As noted by NBCUniversal, the new Office show has cast Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young. Their characters have not yet been disclosed. To help research their parts, though, all three actors visited the Palisadian-Post to shadow the real staff members of a local newspaper. Peacock continues to staff up its new Office. Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei and Ramona Young have been cast in Peacock’s upcoming Untitled Greg Daniels/Michael Koman mockumentary which is set in the same universe as Daniels’ NBC hit The Office.
The trio join previously cast Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore.
In the Office followup, created and executive produced by Daniels and Koman, the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.
As part of their research for the roles, Gregg, Frei and Young recently shadowed staffers at the Palisadian-Post, a 96-year-old bi-weekly local newspaper serving Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades area which announced the trio’s castings in a story about their visit.

Just in time for Judgment Day, Netflix has a new installment in the “Terminator” franchise for fans of the iconic, long-running sci-fi action franchise. It's the dawn of a new day in the DC Universe, with James Gunn's upcoming movie "Superman" introducing a new version of the titular Man of Steel, played this time around by David Corenswet. This reset is particularly important for Jimmy Olsen, the fresh-faced photojournalist and cub reporter who works alongside Clark Kent and Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. The most recent movie version of Jimmy was introduced briefly in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" as a CIA operative (played by Michael Cassidy), only to be killed off almost immediately.
Now, through the magic of a soft franchise reboot, Jimmy will be reborn in "Superman" -- played this time around by Skyler Gisondo. To celebrate the 83rd anniversary of Jimmy Olsen's first (named) appearance in DC Comics, Gunn shared a first look of Gisondo in the role. He certainly has the perfect dimpled smile to play Jimmy,...

Today marks 83 years since Jimmy Olsen made his DC Comics debut and Superman writer and director James Gunn has shared two new shots of Skyler Gisondo's version of the character.
One was released on X and the other on Instagram; the actor is wearing the same costume we saw in set photos, suggesting that will be his main look throughout the duration of this movie.
The actor certainly looks the part and is best known for roles in Licorice Pizza, Booksmart, Vacation, The Righteous Gemstones, and Santa Clarita Diet.
It's been a while since we've seen Clark Kent's friendship with Jimmy explored on screen. With Gunn - a huge comic book fan - in charge of the Dcu, that finally looks set to change.

You know you love her, and why wouldn't you?
Eva Longoria is not only a talented actress who chooses projects that speak not just to her amazing acting talent but resonate with her heart in a way that shows in her performances.
She may have gotten recognition from her role on a drama-dripping soap opera with a cast of actors who have no right to be as attractive as they are talented, but Longoria has proven she is so much more than a pretty face and a smile that could melt steel.
With wins from the Screen Actors Guild and the People's Choice, the actress is a familiar face who has been entertaining folks since the start of the millennium.
If this fantastic woman hasn't won you over yet, do a quick search of her to see how she brings thousands of dollars to charities and foundations that help impoverished communities and immigrants worldwide.

Olyphant is limited to a voice role in Terminator Zero, but he deserves a more prominent live-action part. Lack of casting info leaves Olyphant's role in the animated series unclear, but his streak of impressive performances is likely to continue. Olyphant's potential as an actor could be better utilized in a live-action Terminator project, which will hopefully happen in the future.
A versatile actor like Timothy Olyphant can do justice to a variety of roles, and while I'm ecstatic that he's joining the Terminator franchise, I also can't help but think his casting has come at the wrong time. Terminator Zero is an animated series set between two points in the Terminator timeline, but it isn't the era that Olyphant has found himself involved with that disappoints me, but rather something to do with the medium being used. More specifically, it's how I think the actor's talents are being misused.

Every. Season. Counts.
The Bear's renewal for simultaneously filmed third and fourth seasons was sweet dad-rock music to the ears of critics and audiences alike.
After sweeping the Emmys and benefiting from word-of-mouth buzz around its Christmas-themed episode "Fishes," the show was practically guaranteed renewal to give us at least one more season with the volatile and tight-knit Berzattos.
An Interesting Experiment
Capitalizing on the moment by filming back-to-back seasons was a smart move for the series and might become a trend for other shows.
Logistically it makes sense to take advantage of utilizing a show's cast and crew for two seasons in one go, instead of having to align all of those schedules again in another eighteen months or so.
In the current landscape of surprise cancellations, it also makes creative sense for a show to film a multi-season arc without the worry of ending on a cliffhanger.

Exclusive: Actress Cara Santana (Daughter of the Bride) will make her directorial debut with The Shuffle, a documentary on the corruption of the addiction treatment industry, which she’s producing alongside Andrew Renzi’s North of Now.
Developed over the last two years, The Shuffle follows what she says is a $43B-a-year con that’s proliferated in the U.S. through the brokering and trafficking of vulnerable people in recovery by profiting off of their insurance. The film is said to go to the heart of why America has the largest drug epidemic in the Western world — the profit is in the treatment, not the cure.

While underrated upon its release, as John Carpenter’s The Thing failed to make it big commercially following its competition with other sci-fi releases at the time, time has been kind to it. Not only has the sci-fi horror gone on to garner cult status, but many have also deemed it among one of the greatest films the genre has to offer, even deeming it more important than Carpenter’s Halloween.

Exclusive: Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), and Larry Joe Campbell (The Orville) have been set for guest star roles in the forthcoming second season of Fox’s popular workplace comedy Animal Control, starring Joel McHale.
Others set to appear in S2 guest roles, as previously announced, include Ken Jeong, Sarah Chalke, and Krystal Smith.
Premiering last February, the show created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. McHale plays Frank, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.

Netflix frequently cancels beloved original shows, leaving fans heartbroken and unresolved. Reasons for cancelation include low viewership and high production costs, but actual data remains undisclosed. Shows like "The Oa" and "Santa Clarita Diet" were canceled despite fan campaigns and potential for further seasons.
Netflix has become the undisputed champion of penning amazing original shows only to cruelly cancel them before they have a chance to truly shine, resulting in some shows that were gone far too soon. It's a tough game being one of Netflix's originally created series -- Most of them either become dragged out well past their expiration date due to popularity like Stranger Things or Big Mouth, or are canceled far too early. It's rare that the lovingly-crafted series forced to bear these sudden and abrupt endings are actually given the chance to properly resolve, either, leaving fans heartbroken.

The Twilight Zone's use of grotesque makeup and effects made it genuinely scary and influenced later directors like David Lynch and the Cronenbergs. The show blended genres seamlessly, moving from science fiction to horror and comedy within the same episode, paving the way for shows like Santa Clarita Diet and Love, Death + Robots. The Twilight Zone used horror as a means of making cutting social commentary, critiquing contemporary targets and influencing filmmakers like Jordan Peele.
Long after leaving the air, The Twilight Zone remains one of the most influential, important, and relevant TV shows ever made. While its impact is obvious on contemporary small-screen hits like Black Mirror, Rod Serling's twisted, cerebral behemoth has also helped mold some of the biggest media properties on the planet. Noah Hawley’s Alien prequel TV series is expected to arrive in 2025 and Timothy Olyphant is the latest casting addition.
It’s a good day to be an Alien fan. Not only did we just report that Alien: Romulus is set to take place in-between Alien and Aliens, but we also have another bit of xenomorph-related news for you.

Hawley began production in Thailand in July while the writers and actors’ strike was already ongoing, but without any SAG-AFTRA actors. Instead, Hawley was able to film for about a month with actors who...
