Plot

Lord Carnarvon falls ill with blood poisoning, and Howard Carter's work is hampered by the Egyptian authorities and he leaves the dig. After her father's death, Lady Evelyn convinces the Egyptians and Carter to cooperate in order to save the finds from deterioration.

Carter, facing Egyptian bureaucracy, resigns from Carnarvon's services following their rift but when Carnarvon falls ill with blood poisoning following an infected mosquito bite the men reconcile and Carter secures good publicity from the Goldwyn film company. Carnarvon dies, thus beginning the notion of the Pharaoh's curse as well as allowing the authorities to take the dig out of Carter's hands. However, before returning to England and marriage, Evelyn persuades the authorities to open the tomb so that Carter can have one last look.—don @ minifie-1
