Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier has taken to saying that the relaunch of the broadcast network following the historic Disney-21st Century Fox transaction has turned Fox into a “startup company.” During Monday’s upfront presentation at the Beacon Theatre, the startup seams were showing at times as the new-model Fox unveiled a large slate of new shows for the 2019-20 season that amount to a number of swings in different directions.
As promised, Fox is putting great emphasis on live sports and events on its air now that it is untethered from serving the needs of a sibling studio operation as it previously did with 20th Century Fox, now part of Disney. The network’s late-week schedule is stocked with NFL football on Thursday and Sunday, college gridiron on Saturday and Friday’s “sports entertainment” of WWE’s “SmackDown Live.”

There was bad news for Last Man Standing this morning when Fox’s fall schedule was unveiled and the Tim Allen sitcom was not on it. But they won’t have to wait that long for Season 8 of the show: It will debut in January after Thursday Night Football wraps on a new night, Thursday, going against NBC’s comedy block at 8 Pm.
Lms is expected to be paired with new multi-camera comedy Outmatched, starring Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson. I hear that anchoring the night at 9 Pm will be promising new drama series Filthy Rich, starring Kim Cattrall. Fox had been trying to get the family soap for fall launch, but creator Tate Taylor’s film schedule did not permit that.
Allen shared the news of the new slot with his fans on Twitter.
In NYC at the Fox Network upfronts.
Big news and kinda cool they are moving Lms to Thursday.

Fox has released the trailers for its new fall 2019 TV shows, and a few series that will premiere at midseason, too.
Now you can get your first look at the “unusual family” dramedy “Not Just Me,” starring Brittany Snow, the Greg Berlanti-produced serial-killer drama, “Prodigal Son,” and Kristen Wiig’s new animated series, “Bless the Harts,” all of which will debut at the start of Fox’s upcoming year.
There are also previews for these new shows, which will premiere in the colder months: the David Ayer-created cop drama, “Deputy,” the John Slattery-led tech-centric thriller, “neXt,” Kim Cattrall’s Southern Gothic dramedy, “Filthy Rich, and family sitcom “Outmatched,” starring Jason Biggs.

Fox has released trailers for three of its new shows premiering on the network this fall, as well as a bunch for its midseason offerings.
New drama “Prodigal Son,” which features Michael Sheen, will join Fox’s Monday night lineup, “Not Just Me” will air Wednesday nights, and animated comedy “Bless the Harts,” from Amy Poehler, joins the network’s much-vaunted Sunday animated lineup, wedged between “The Simpsons” and “Bob’s Burgers.”
Fox has opted to hold back the majority of its new content for midseason, and the lack of a new live-action comedies in the lineup is an intriguing first.

Fox revealed its fall schedule on Monday, giving almost a complete overhaul to its Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday primetime lineups — including the expected shakeup of that last night there, which we previously knew would be devoted to the 2-hour “WWE’s SmackDown Live.”
On Mondays, Ryan Murphy’s “9-1-1” has been shifted up to 8 p.m. to make room for new Greg Berlanti-produced serial killer drama “Prodigal Son” in its old 9 o’clock hour.
Tuesdays have also been stirred up (as they were previously held by the now-canceled “Lethal Weapon” and “The Gifted”), with “9-1-1’s” former lead-in “The Resident” moving into the 8 p.m. slot that night, to be followed by “Empire” at 9, which is sliding over from 8 p.m. on Wednesday back to its old night and time for its final season.

Kim Cattrall is getting Filthy Rich.
The Sex and the City actress has signed up to appear on Fox's in-the-works soapy drama series, Filthy Rich.
Cattrall will take on the role of the matriarch of the family the potential series will focus on.
It follows the Monroe clan, a wealthy family who is rocked when the patriarch dies in a plane crash.
Related: Tell Me a Story Renewed for Season 2
Being the CEO of the world's largest Christian network, questions start to arise over what was going on before his passing.
Things get crazier when Cattrall's character realizes that her late husband fathered illegitimate kids.
Making things worse, the kids are all in his will, meaning there's less of the family fortune to go around.
Margaret's immediate reaction is to pay some of them off, but that's easier said than done, especially when these heirs learn that there's a lot of money at stake.

Fox has presumably shown Kim Cattrall a decent chunk of change, tapping the Sex and the City vet to both star in and produce its Southern-tinged family soap opera Filthy Rich, TVLine has learned. Cattrall, who is coming off of a one-season stint on CBS All Access’ horror anthology Tell Me a Story, will play the “steel azalea” matriarch of the family at the center of the series, which hails from Help auteur Tate Taylor.

The cast of ‘Bad Mothers’
As parents, Gavin Strawhan and Rachel Lang agreed that being a mother can be an impossible job and that no matter how hard they try, women will sometimes feel they are bad mothers.
The Auckland-based founders of Filthy Productions came up with the concept of a comedy-drama about five mums whose kids go to the same school, overlaid with a murder mystery, and pitched it to the Nine Network.
Execs at Nine suggested Strawhan and Lang find an Australian partner, which turned out to be Jungle Entertainment. The result is Bad Mothers, which launches on Nine at 9 pm on February 18 and across the ditch on Tvnz on February 20.

Fox has ordered two more drama pilots. They are Deputy, an hourlong police procedural from Bright helmer David Ayer, Aquaman writer Will Beall and eOne; and an untitled hourlong dramedy (fka Let’s Spend the Night Together), inspired by the French series Quadras, from Californication creator Tom Kapinos, Empire director and executive producer Sanaa Hamri, Endemol Shine North America and 20th Century Fox TV. Deputy had received a script commitment with penalty, and Untitled Tom Kapinos had gotten a put pilot commitment.
Written by Beall with Ayer set to direct, Deputy centers on Deputy Bill Hollister, a career lawman who’s very comfortable kicking down doors and utterly lost in a staff meeting. But when the La County Sheriff drops dead, Bill becomes acting sheriff of Los Angeles County, in charge of 10,000 sworn deputies policing a modern Wild West.

Fox has given a pilot order to one-hour police drama Prodigal Son, from Deception creator Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros TV.
This marks the first pilot from an outside studio for Fox this season, with at least one more, Deputy, from eOne, pending. Prodigal Son joins three other Fox pilots — comedies Richard Lovely and Geniuses and drama Filthy Rich — along with two straight-to-series animated comedies — Bless the Hearts and Duncanville — all from the network’s longtime corporate sibling 20th Century Fox TV, which is headed to Disney as part of the $71.3 billion asset acquisition. (Duncanville is co-produced by Universal TV.)
As part of decreasing the net’s dependence on 20th TV, Fox bass last summer revealed a plan to have half of the scripted development for next season come from outside suppliers vs. 10% last season. The network has ownership in all projects.

So far, Fox has ordered three pilots, Richard Lovely, Geniuses and drama Filthy Rich, for next season, along with two straight-to-series animated comedies, Bless the Hearts and Duncanville. All five hail from Fox’s longtime corporate sibling 20th Century Fox TV, which is headed to Disney as part of the $71.3 billion asset acquisition.

Exclusive: Fox has given a pilot order to Filthy Rich, a soapy drama from The Help writer-director Tate Taylor, Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox TV.
This marks the first greenlight decision since AMC President and Gm Charlie Collier took the reins of the broadcast network as Fox CEO of Entertainment last month. I hear Collier, a big fan of Taylor’s work, committed to a pilot order in the room as he and Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn recently met with Taylor and Imagine TV’s Brian Grazer.
Filthy Rich also marks the fourth early pilot order for 20th TV, which is getting a head start on pilot season 2019. The studio, which is preparing for a move from Fox to Disney, also has pilot orders at CBS for drama Surveillance starring Sophia Bush and at ABC for an NYPD Blue sequel and comedy Happy Accident.
