On Feb. 5, Amy Schumer’s comedy Kinda Pregnant debuts on Netflix. Director Tyler Spindel’s movie centers on Lainy (Schumer), who wears a fake baby bump while feeling jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy and ends up meeting her perfect guy. Rounding out the cast are Jillian Bell, Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., Brianne Howey, Alex Moffat, Joel David Moore, Lizze Broadway, Urzila Carlson and Francis Benhamou.

Netflix has revealed its lineup for February 2025.

Reality TV enthusiasts are in for a treat. Netflix is putting a strong focus on this genre with the return of Love Is Blind for its eighth season, along with the debut of Celebrity Bear Hunt, a fresh competition-based reality show. For those who prefer a gripping thriller, Netflix will drop Apple Cider Vinegar, a new series premiering on February 6 that’s worth keeping an eye on.

In other big news, the highly popular series Cobra Kai will release its final batch of five episodes this month, marking the end of the TV series. While it’s bittersweet for fans, this isn’t the last we’ll see of Daniel Larusso, as he’s set to appear in an upcoming Karate Kid movie hitting theaters later this year.

Beyond these highlights, Netflix is also adding plenty of films and shows to its catalog.

Linda Cardellini has been cast in a lead role opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the upcoming HBO dark comedy limited series “Dtf St. Louis,” Variety has learned.

HBO gave the series a seven-episode order in November. It was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. It was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.” However, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and it is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article and with Pascal no longer involved.

The official logline now states the show is “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead.” Cardellini will play Carol.

Nick Offerman is the latest addition to the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” Variety has learned.

Offerman will star in the series alongside previously announced cast members Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, and Michelle Pfeiffer. The eight-episode show was ordered to series at Apple back in February after a multi-platform bidding war. It is based on the Rufi Thorpe novel of the same name, which was published in June.

Per the description of the novel’s plot, it focuses on Margo Millet (Fanning), the daughter of a Hooters waitress (Pfeiffer) and an ex-pro wrestler (Offerman). Now an unemployed single mother in her early 20s, Margo is struggling to make ends meet, leading her to launch an OnlyFans account. When her father reenters her life, she starts incorporating his lessons from the pro wrestling world into her OnlyFans work, leading to unexpected success.

In a recent interview, veteran actor Michael Keaton pushed back on the idea that his acclaimed role in 2014’s “Birdman” sparked a career resurgence. While the film earned him accolades, including an Oscar nomination, Keaton said he had consistently worked in Hollywood for decades.

When asked about “Birdman” marking a comeback, Keaton recalled a conversation with an industry contact. “He called it my comeback story. But I didn’t think that was true at all,” said Keaton. The actor pointed out that prior to “Birdman”, he starred in major studio movies as well as indie films.

The untitled “Bosch” spinoff focused on cold case detective Renee Ballard has cast John Carroll Lynch as a series regular, Variety has learned.

As previously announced, Maggie Q will star in the Amazon MGM Studios series as Ballard while Courtney Taylor is set to play Zamira Parker. As with “Bosch,” the show is based on the work of author Michael Connelly.

The official description states the show follows Ballard, “who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division—a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Academy Award winner Laura Dern have signed on to star in “Monsanto,” the latest film from writer-director John Lee Hancock.

The film follows the true story of young, untried attorney Brent Wisner (Powell), who in 2019 took on a seemingly insurmountable case against the giant U.S. chemical company Monsanto on behalf of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie) who used the company’s best-known product Roundup, a wildly financially successful weed and grass pesticide killer, as part of his job as a high school groundskeeper. Dern plays Dr. Melinda Rogers, the Monsanto Company’s chief toxicologist, who testifies with certainty that Roundup is safe during the landmark cancer trial.

Nick Offerman and Betty Gilpin have joined the upcoming Netflix historical drama series “Death by Lightning,” Variety has learned.

The duo join previously announced series leads Matthew Macfadyen and Michael Shannon in the show, which will tell the story of U.S. President James Garfield (Shannon) and his assassination by Charles Guiteau (Macfadyen). It is based on the novel “Destiny Of The Republic” by Candice Millard.

Gilpin will star as Crete Garfield, the First Lady and President Garfield’s wife. Offerman will play Chester A. Arthur, Garfield’s vice president and eventual successor.

Saban Films has nabbed the U.S. rights to Michael Keaton’s Knox Goes Away thriller, which also stars Al Pacino, James Marsden and Marcia Gay Harden. Saban is eyeing a 2024 first quarter theatrical release.

Keaton directs and stars in the neo-noir thriller as John Knox, a contract killer with a rapid onset of of dementia who is offered the chance to redeem himself by saving the life of the adult son played by Marsden with whom he had been estranged.

As the usually cold and calculating killer steadily loses his memory, Knox finds himself in a race against time as a lost and confused father tries help his son cover up a messy and violent crime. Blue Finch Films has locked the North American sale for the Bloomquist brothers’ political slasher Founders Day after the American Film Festival that ran earlier this month. The film has been acquired by Dark Sky Films and will be theatrically released in the first-quarter of 2024. The deal was negotiated by Mike Chapman on behalf of Blue Finch Films and Giles Edwards, head of development and acquisitions for Dark Sky.

Exclusive: Lbi Entertainment has signed BAFTA Award-nominated writer, director and producer John Lee Hancock for management, Deadline has learned.

Best known for such his gift for guiding big-name stars like Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks and Michael Keaton toward major critical and commercial success with films like The Blindside, Saving Mr. Banks and The Founder, Hancock’s titles as a director have collectively grossed nearly $600M worldwide.

A sports drama written and directed by Hancock, which brought Bullock her first Oscar, The Blind Side adapted Michael Lewis’ 2006 book of the same name, which told the story of Michael Oher, a homeless youth who rose to NFL glory with the help of the caring family that took him in as their own.

The Hancock-helmed The Founder starred Keaton as ruthless McDonald’s empire builder Ray Kroc, while the director’s Disney drama Saving Mr. Banks told the story of author P.L.

AMC is developing a third series set in what they have dubbed the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, with the new show set to focus on the Talamasca.

Per the official description from AMC, the series “is set in the world of the Talamasca, a secretive organization featured in a number of Rice’s iconic novels that is devoted to studying the supernatural world and keeping mortals safe from its darkest elements.” John Lee Hancock will serve as writer and showrunner. His past credits include co-writing the films “The Blind Side” and “The Alamo” and directing films like “The Highwaymen” and “The Founder.”

Writer Brian Gene White’s Death’s Assistant took the top honor among the 2022 winners. The story, which won the Discovery of Voice prize, centers on a man who makes a deal with the devil to spare his fatally injured fiancée and becomes death’s assistant in the process.

Winning scripts will be published as comics or graphic novels by Scout Comics, and be put into development for film or television. John Leguizamo says he felt like “a pawn” when he entered negotiations to play the villainous Vulture in Sony and Marvel’s 2017 reboot “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” only to be asked to step back so Michael Keaton could take the role back.

The “Encanto” voice actor claims he was in talks to play the villain in the film, but then found out Sony was basically using him to get Keaton to close his deal.

Hulu has released the official trailer for “Welcome to Chippendales,” starring Kumail Nanjiani as Somen “Steve” Banjeree, an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the famous male-stripping empire, and quickly learns how unglamorous the live entertainment world can be.

Also starring in the series alongside Nanjiani are Murray Bartlett, Annaleigh Ashford, Dan Stevens, Juliette Lewis with Nicola Peltz appearing in a guest starring role.

The show comes from creator Robert Siegel, whose previous credits include “The Founder” and “The Wrestler.” Marvel Studios’ “Fantastic Four” director Matt Shakman directs the series. It is inspired by the events portrayed in the book “Deadly Dance: The Chippendales Murders,” by authors K. Scot Macdonald and Patrick MontesDeOca.

“Vengeance,” a darkly comedic thriller starring Issa Rae and Ashton Kutcher, is coming to theaters this summer.

Focus Features has scheduled the film to open on July 29. It will hit the big screen on the same day as Dwayne Johnson’s superhero adventure “Black Adam” from Warner Bros.

“The Office” alum B.J. Novak wrote and directed “Vengeance” in his feature debut. The story centers on Ben Manalowitz, a journalist and podcaster who travels from New York City to West Texas to investigate the death of a girl he was hooking up with. The cast also includes “Succession” star J. Smith-Cameron, Boyd Holbrook, and Dove Cameron (Disney’s “Descendants”).

Blumhouse Production is making the movie in association with Divide/ Conquer. Blumhouse founder Jason Blum is attached to produce with Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath.
