The incredible and mostly true story of Belle Gibson, the glorious end of Cobra Kai, the return of arguably the world’s most talked about reality show, Kate Hudson flexing her comedy muscles and Robert De Niro leading a prestige TV show are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in February.
On Feb. 5, Amy Schumer’s comedy Kinda Pregnant debuts on Netflix. Director Tyler Spindel’s movie centers on Lainy (Schumer), who wears a fake baby bump while feeling jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy and ends up meeting her perfect guy. Rounding out the cast are Jillian Bell, Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., Brianne Howey, Alex Moffat, Joel David Moore, Lizze Broadway, Urzila Carlson and Francis Benhamou.

Netflix has revealed its lineup for February 2025.
Reality TV enthusiasts are in for a treat. Netflix is putting a strong focus on this genre with the return of Love Is Blind for its eighth season, along with the debut of Celebrity Bear Hunt, a fresh competition-based reality show. For those who prefer a gripping thriller, Netflix will drop Apple Cider Vinegar, a new series premiering on February 6 that’s worth keeping an eye on.
In other big news, the highly popular series Cobra Kai will release its final batch of five episodes this month, marking the end of the TV series. While it’s bittersweet for fans, this isn’t the last we’ll see of Daniel Larusso, as he’s set to appear in an upcoming Karate Kid movie hitting theaters later this year.
Beyond these highlights, Netflix is also adding plenty of films and shows to its catalog.

Linda Cardellini has been cast in a lead role opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the upcoming HBO dark comedy limited series “Dtf St. Louis,” Variety has learned.
HBO gave the series a seven-episode order in November. It was originally announced as being in development back in 2022 with Harbour and Pedro Pascal attached to star and executive produce. It was originally inspired by the James Lasdun New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation.” However, the creative direction of the series evolved over time and it is now based on a wholly original idea with no connection to the original article and with Pascal no longer involved.
The official logline now states the show is “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead.” Cardellini will play Carol.

The Rotten Tomatoes score is in for Goodrich, and it seems to be extending a trend for Michael Keaton. The film follows Andy Goodrich (Keaton), a museum owner whose wife enters rehab, leaving him to care for their young twins alone. As he navigates modern parenthood, he relies on his daughter Grace (Mila Kunis) from his first marriage, ultimately becoming the father she never had. So far, the reviews for Goodrich have been generally positive, as it marks his first movie since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, Goodrich currently holds a 70% score on their Tomatometer, based on 27 critic reviews. It currently doesn't have an audience score since the movie has just been released. Nevertheless, this validation by critics follows the success of his return as the titular character in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was a hit with fans and critics alike.

Review: I love Michael Keaton movies. In the 1980s and 1990s, Keaton was the ubiquitous leading man in everything from comedies and dramas to his game-changing turn in Tim Burton’s Batman. In the early 2000s, Keaton’s roles dried up a bit, aside from voice roles in the Cars and Toy Story franchises. After his awards-worthy role in 2014’s Birdman, Keaton had a resurgence with acclaimed films like The Founder, Spotlight, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 to a very different comic book character in Spider-Man: Homecoming. One of the best things to happen in Hollywood in recent years is that Michael Keaton’s career got a major second wind (but don’t call it a comeback) after a somewhat lower-key period. While the extent of Keaton’s career downturn pre-Birdman has indeed been overblown (let’s not forget he was still a big enough star to play the villain in the RoboCop reboot months before Birdman came out), it can’t be denied that Alejandro González Iñárritu’s movie gave him a major boost. Since then, he’s appeared In some amazing films, including Spotlight, The Founder, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and The Trial of the Chicago 7. He has also done great TV work, such as the exceptional limited series Dopesick.
However, Keaton’s pre- and post-Beetlejuice/Batman career tends to be overlooked when discussing his filmography, which is a shame as he was already a...

In a recent interview, veteran actor Michael Keaton pushed back on the idea that his acclaimed role in 2014’s “Birdman” sparked a career resurgence. While the film earned him accolades, including an Oscar nomination, Keaton said he had consistently worked in Hollywood for decades.
When asked about “Birdman” marking a comeback, Keaton recalled a conversation with an industry contact. “He called it my comeback story. But I didn’t think that was true at all,” said Keaton. The actor pointed out that prior to “Birdman”, he starred in major studio movies as well as indie films.
It’s accurate that in earlier years Keaton took on more supporting roles. But standout performances included 2010’s “The Other Guys” and 2012’s “RoboCop” reboot. Keaton emphasized knowing the ups and downs of the business. “The career isn’t always steady. I get that.” he said. “But you can’t panic during slow times...

Glen Powell is a worker. He’s currently on an early 2000s Colin Ferrell/Samuel L. Jackson/Morgan Freeman run where he’s seemingly in everything. Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Academy Award winner Laura Dern have signed on to star in “Monsanto,” the latest film from writer-director John Lee Hancock.
The film follows the true story of young, untried attorney Brent Wisner (Powell), who in 2019 took on a seemingly insurmountable case against the giant U.S. chemical company Monsanto on behalf of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie) who used the company’s best-known product Roundup, a wildly financially successful weed and grass pesticide killer, as part of his job as a high school groundskeeper. Dern plays Dr. Melinda Rogers, the Monsanto Company’s chief toxicologist, who testifies with certainty that Roundup is safe during the landmark cancer trial.
“I was drawn to this contemporary David vs. Goliath true story because I found it dramatic, moving, quite funny and of critical importance in today’s world,” said Hancock. “My ambitions are to deliver a smart, thoughtful and...

“Unfrosted,” the first movie directed by Jerry Seinfeld (who also stars in it), is an agreeably flaked-out piece of surrealist vaudeville. It’s a comedy about the creation of the Pop-Tart, back in 1963. That makes it sound like part of the new wave of mass-market product biopics — movies like “Flamin’ Hot” (about the creation of spicy Cheetos), “Blackberry” (about the invention of the smart phone), and the one I think of as the “Citizen Kane” of the genre, “The Founder,” with Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, the man who changed the world by taking over and franchising McDonald’s. These films all speak to a time — ours — when consumer products haven’t just taken on a life of their own. They’ve become part of our identities.
“Unfrosted,” however, is not like those other films. While broadly based in reality, the entire movie is a put-on, a wackazoid tall tale, a...

Mario Van Peebles made a big mark on cinema following in his father’s footsteps, Melvin Van Peebles, to be a unique, prominent voice for the African-American community in cinema. He would make many appearances as an actor, including working with fellow gunslinger Clint Eastwood on Heartbreak Ridge, as the sword-wielding Kane in Highlander: The Final Dimension, and taking on the monumental task of portraying Malcolm X in the Michael Mann film, Ali. However, in 1991, New Jack City, which co-stars Ice-t, would put Van Peebles on the map as a director, and he would parlay his run with movies like Panther and the 1993 western film, Posse, in which he also starred.

Reach for the sky cause Mario Van Peebles has returned to the old West! In 1993, Mario Van Peebles dabbled in the Western genre with Posse, which he had written, directed, and starred in. Now, Peebles has gotten back into the director’s chair for a new feature he wrote called Outlaw Posse. The trailer has now been released courtesy of Quiver Distribution and features Mario Van Peebles acting alongside his son, Mandela, who also plays his son in the movie. This keeps the tradition of the Van Peebles filmmaking lineage rolling along as Mario was also heavily involved with his father, Melvin Van Peebles’ film career. Mario would even make a biopic where he portrayed his own father with the film Baadasssss!, which is a play on the title of Melvin’s famous movie Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song.

Character actors are often relegated to supporting roles, but their performances can elevate a movie. Transformation and the ability to embody different characters are key traits of great character actors. Some character actors become well-known for portraying a specific type of character, like Joe Pesci as a struggling mobster or Christopher Lee as a sinister villain.

Say it once, say it twice — but say it a third time and expect an explosion of chaotic supernatural hilarity. That was the premise of "Beetlejuice," the second feature film from director Tim Burton. Released in 1988, the film focused on newly dead couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), whose quaint country house was posthumously sold to Charles and Delia Deetz (Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara). Adam and Barbara, however, remain in their home, as ghosts, horrified by the bizarre architectural changes being made to their beloved home by its obnoxious new owners. Taking advice from "The Handbook for the Recently Deceased," the Maitlands attempt to haunt their unwanted roommates into leaving — a tactic that proves unsuccessful when the Deetzes remain utterly oblivious to their efforts to scare them out.
The Deetz's death-obsessed teenage daughter, Lydia (Winona Ryder), can see the Maitlands, and befriends them. Just when all seems hopeless,...

The protagonist of Knox Goes Away, starring and directed by Michael Keaton, is one of the most low-energy hired killers in cinema history. There’s reason for this: early on audiences discover that John Knox is suffering from a form of dementia––one that moves much faster than Alzheimer’s, he is told––that will cause him to start losing his memory in a matter of “weeks, not months.” That news would be difficult for anyone, but it’s especially problematic for someone whose livelihood depends on his abilities to act decisively, move covertly, and always cover his tracks.
So it’s not going to be easy for Knox to finish off his career as a hitman and cash out. Worse yet it’s also not easy for audiences to become invested in that process. Knox Goes Away is a sub-par effort that may prove of interest to fans of the actor,...

In 1993, Mario Van Peebles dabbled in the Western genre with Posse. Peebles took after his father, Melvin Van Peebles, who was a notable filmmaker in the blaxploitation genre in the 1970s. Mario appeared as an actor in films like Rappin’, Heartbreak Ridge starring Clint Eastwood, and the infamous Jaws: The Revenge, which featured an apathetic Michael Caine. He would also head up his own projects as a writer and director, much like his father. One of the more popular films Peebles would be known for is the 90s street crime classic, New Jack City.
Peebles is returning to the director’s chair for a new feature he wrote called Outlaw Posse. The film is a Western that bears no connection to the similarly titled Posse. Highland Film Group has picked up the distribution and has shared a first look at the film with a new picture exclusively shared by Variety.

Beetlejuice 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s classic horror comedy, with an exciting cast playing both new and returning characters. Coming several decades after the 1988 release of the original Beetlejuice, the follow-up revisits many of the central characters as their lives are again turned upside down by the titular "ghost with the most." While a few of the original actors are back for Beetlejuice 2, the sequel also keeps things fresh by introducing some recognizable additions to the ensemble. There are also unconfirmed rumors that Burton’s long-time collaborator Johnny Depp will appear in Beetlejuice 2.
A second Beetlejuice movie has been in the works for a long time, with a rumored sequel project titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian marking the first attempt all the way back in 1990. The detailed plot of Beetlejuice 2 hasn’t been revealed yet, but a brief first look at the cast is...

Exclusive: Lbi Entertainment has signed BAFTA Award-nominated writer, director and producer John Lee Hancock for management, Deadline has learned.
Best known for such his gift for guiding big-name stars like Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks and Michael Keaton toward major critical and commercial success with films like The Blindside, Saving Mr. Banks and The Founder, Hancock’s titles as a director have collectively grossed nearly $600M worldwide.
A sports drama written and directed by Hancock, which brought Bullock her first Oscar, The Blind Side adapted Michael Lewis’ 2006 book of the same name, which told the story of Michael Oher, a homeless youth who rose to NFL glory with the help of the caring family that took him in as their own.
The Hancock-helmed The Founder starred Keaton as ruthless McDonald’s empire builder Ray Kroc, while the director’s Disney drama Saving Mr. Banks told the story of author P.L.

Air marks Ben Affleck's return to the director's chair for the first time since Live by Night, but its budget is likely much lower than the 2016 mob movie. The 2023 biopic is based on a true story. It follows Sonny Vaccaro, a Nike employee attempting to negotiate a deal with Michael Jordan and create the Air Jordan basketball shoe line. It marks a departure from Affleck's usual directing efforts, as the filmmaker generally makes films with heavy crime elements. But Air looks like a refreshing change of pace, and it could be Affleck's most entertaining movie yet.
Affleck's budgets have gradually increased with each movie, which is generally the case if directors' films are continuously successful. And he had his biggest budget by far with Live by Night, which cost $90 million. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake, as it was also Affleck's lowest-grossing movie, making just $22 million worldwide (via Box...

John Leguizamo says he felt like “a pawn” when he entered negotiations to play the villainous Vulture in Sony and Marvel’s 2017 reboot “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” only to be asked to step back so Michael Keaton could take the role back.
The “Encanto” voice actor claims he was in talks to play the villain in the film, but then found out Sony was basically using him to get Keaton to close his deal.
“I was supposed to be the Vulture,” Leguizamo told ComicBook in an interview. “We had negotiated and I was about to play him, and they said that Michael Keaton wanted it back and they asked me if I would give it up. I said, ‘Well, okay I guess.’ They said, ‘No, we’ll work with you again, we’re gonna…’ That’s what happened there.”

Renaissance man B.J. Novak has dabbled in a variety of creative fields since his run as a writer and star on “The Office” ended. In addition to roles in films like “Inglorious Basterds,” “The Founder,” and “Saving Mr. Banks,” he has written several books of short stories and a children’s book, created the acclaimed genre-spanning anthology series “The Premise” for Hulu, and even developed the short-lived List App. Directing a film seemed inevitable for the multi-hyphenate, who makes his debut behind the camera with the upcoming comedy “Vengeance.” Focus Features is distributing the film, which Novak also wrote and stars in, and released the first trailer today ahead of its Tribeca premiere.
