Cross Ange is a very irritating show with that said this anime has good story telling and twist
Keep in mind this anime is not for everyone. The only thing hooked me to this show is the plots . Cross Ange anime is not for everyone 90 percentage of character is trash. Vulgarity of undeniable irritating. Aside from countless problem it can be watched from a point of view for once.
The gender discrimination is too vulgare too a point of unbearable.
Personal i didn't like main protagonist at all she became more trash character time pass . After an incident we think she had some character development but fell the same .
Some prominent side character has very good character development I ever seen.

The most bad ass princess with cool Mechs and dragons and magic. Excellent art and colors pops on blu ray. Characters that seem more real then any anime I've watched so far. Great story with many twists and a great characters. It opens the imagination and each episode makes you want to see the next. The echhi isn't half as bad as some and more cleverly put in then most anime. It drives the story instead being put in for fan service and becoming awkward for those that aren't looking for that most of the time. They swear a lot but it seems normal and not forced. I'm just getting into anime and watched about a dozen series now and this is by far the best in maturity, characters, plot, art and world building. I never wanted to write a review for the thousands of shows and movies I've watched over 40 years until this one. Why? Because it shows a measly 300+ reviews and this artful masterpiece needs to be seen by more people that are true fans of the genre.

Cross Ange is a genuinely amazing anime. The protagonist, Ange, lives in a marvellous land where everyone can use magic, except for a few dangerous individuals who are born unable to use it, called Norma. These individuals are shunned by society and shipped off to an island to pilot transforming mechs and fight invading dragons.
When Ange discovers she herself is a Norma and her royal parents had been hiding it from her and her people, she too is shipped off to "hell" to fight dragons.
The story only expands from there. I don't want to spoil things but as events spiral out of control, absolute destruction on the scale seen in Evangelion happens. The ingenuity and uniqueness of the plot are quite unmatched.
Ange is a fantastic character who grows stronger with every episode as she slowly finds her true self. By the end she's so confident and heroic that she won't hesitate to pull a gun and blow out the brains of a villain.
The supporting cast are all also excellent. Many characters start out as antagonists only for later events to show them in a much more sympathetic light. Even the characters who never become fully sympathetic have believable and realistic motivations. There's Salia who just wants approval from her hero and Hilda who just wants to go home to her mother; both their stories are standouts for me.
The first three episodes are pretty dark, reflecting Ange's plunge into despair. But the tone soon starts to change, so please do give the show a chance to set up the story. It's 25 episodes long and builds to a fantastic and exciting climax.
The animation is pretty good, you do get the odd misshapen head or wonky mouth but it's fairly rare. The score by Akiko Shikata is superb, the theme of Villkiss (Ange's special mech) is particularly amazing and the 10 minute track to the final showdown is incredible.
If you like anime and especially if you enjoy the mecha genre, I really recommend you give Cross Ange a try. It has both a sub and a dub so you're catered for whichever way you like to watch. It's hard to believe so few people know about this anime, it's a real shame it is so overlooked.

Everything about this anime is AMAZING.
From Character Development to the fight scenes, i love them all.
Ange and Tusk are the best couple I've ever seen, the romance scenes are very enjoyable and worthwhile to watch. If anyone wants more mecha / romance anime like Cross Ange, you should try Eureka Seven, it's one of the best mecha animes i've watched. It gets better at Episode 18, so bear with it till then.

The Misurugi Empire is an utopia where everybody's wishes are fulfilled through the miraculous technology called Mana. Yet the peaceful lives of Misurugi's citizens are threatened by the Norma, girls who are born without the capability of using Mana. On the sixteenth birthday of Misurugi's first princess, Angelise, it is discovered that she is a Norma. Suddenly bereft of her family, home, wealth, and dignitiy, Angelise finds herself fighting in a world she does not understand.
'Cross Ange' is a action-packed anime, where the main characters battle their enemies in flying mechas. One of its unique characteristics is the almost entirely female cast, including the protagonist Ange (Angelise).
Like other shows of the genre, Cross Ange features a well-developed and fairly complex story, though it at no point gets as complicated as Neon Genesis Evangelion. Still, there certainly are quite a few unforeseen twists and turns that are executed extremely well. Indeed, the two halves of the show could almost belong to different genres. The only low point of the story that really sprung out at me was when one of the characters "died", then returned unharmed, and avoided giving any explanation despite beign asked about it several times. I guess the writers couldn't think of anything...
The characters of Cross Ange are very well done. The highlight is certainly Ange, who develops from a dainty and (self-) righteous princess into a ruthless and even brutish warrior. That she does so over the span of basically a single episode (the fourth one) is less impressive, especially considering that her character is fairly stagnant afterwards. The support cast is thoroughly fleshed out as well, with many characters undergoing their own development, though not always through comprehensible motives. Nevertheless, I'd say that the characters are overall one of the series' strongest selling points.
What is less great is Cross Ange's approach to fanservice. It is an unfortunate staple of the genre that female characters are objectified to an absurd degree. Cross Ange turns this up to eleven; the genre-typical skintight bodysuits have been shrunk to cover only the essentials, because who doesn't like piloting fightercraft from an exposed saddle with lots of bare skin? I don't think I've seen a show where so many women got their clothes torn off, and there really is a lot of nudity. Oddly enough, instead of the "fortuitous cencoring" that many animes use to hide what needs to remain hidden, Cross Ange decided that everyone is as smooth as Barbie dolls (except for that one dude in the opening credits, who for some reason has a huge dong that looks badly drawn on?).
Also, I found the first four episodes difficult to sit through. I know that good character development is done by making the character suffer, but this felt a bit like the writers were fetishising the absolute misery of debasing a princess. There are also multiple lesbian relationships in the show, and all of them are portrayed in a less than healthy way (as are the hetero relationships, actually).
From a technical standpoint, the art and animation are solid, although I've seen better. The soundtrack is extremely good, though it's a bit weird how the singing got incorporated into the plot.
All in all, Cross Ange is surprisingly unknown for the quality it delivers. I have rarely watched a show that kept me on the edge of my seat like this, and I was genuinely impressed by the story and characters. I'm guessing that the nudity was a bit much even for the usual Japanese audience.
