Vice president-elect J.D. Vance drew a line delineating which Jan. 6 criminals and defendants will be considered for a pardon by the incoming Trump administration.

“I think it’s very simple. We can reveal public broadcaster the ABC has ordered an Australian version of The Assembly (aka The A Talks), with Mark Fennessy’s Helium Pictures attached to produce a six-part series. The production was announced at the ABC’s upfront today in Sydney.

The Assembly is being adapted from French hit Les Rencontres du Papotin, which launched two years ago on France 2. Helium began production yesterday, and will continue for six weeks with a potential network premiere date in Q3.

Exclusive: Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Rudy Valdez (The Sentence) has signed with Inspire Entertainment for management.

Most recently, Valdez served as director, EP and cinematographer of the six-part docuseries Choir for Disney+, as well as Carlos, the Carlos Santana doc from Sony Pictures Classics and Imagine Documentaries. Both films were official selections of the 2023 Tribeca Festival, with Carlos earning a 2023 Critics’ Choice Documentary Award nomination for Best Music Documentary.

Valdez’s documentary short Translators, produced in partnership with U.S. Bank, also recently debuted as an official selection of Laliff and the Tribeca Festival, winning the Tribeca X Award for Best Short Documentary.

NCIS: Origins has added Daniel Bellomy (Power Book II: Ghost), Caleb Martin Foote (Made For Love) and Robert Taylor (Longmire) in recurring roles. The CBS prequel to the venerable procedural has a straight-to-series order for the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

Executive produced and narrated by Mark Harmon, Origins begins in 1991, years before the events of NCIS, and chronicles Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ younger years. In the prequel, Gibbs (Austin Stowell) starts his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling Nis Camp Pendleton office where he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid).

The South by Southwest debut of “Stormy” was not your typical Imagine Documentaries premiere.

About adult film star Stormy Daniels’ alleged affair with former President Donald Trump, the film drew an eclectic crowd that included porn stars and “Muppet” director-producer Frank Oz, who sat in the same row as Daniels and her entourage made up mainly of buff bodyguards. Dogs sniffed Austin’s Stateside Theater prior to the screening. After it unspooled, Daniels spoke to the SXSW audience, revealing that she first met “Stormy” exec producer Judd Apatow when he hired her for a small part in his 2005 film “40 Year-Old Virgin.” When she was a no-show due to a death in the family, Apatow sent her flowers and rescheduled her shoot date.

“I thought he would replace me,” Daniels, who would go on to appear in “Knocked Up” for the filmmaker, told the crowd, with director Sarah Gibson standing nearby.

Baroness are gearing up to release their new album Stone on September 15th, Now, they’ve unleashed “Beneath the Rose” as the the second single from the highly anticipated LP, along with an accompanying music video.

“Beneath the Rose” is a melodic, hard rock anthem, with sludgy guitars and raw, aggressive vocals.

“It feels great to be releasing music again,” singer-guitarist John Baizley said in a statement. “Especially a song like ‘Beneath the Rose,’ which we began writing during the Gold & Grey sessions almost six years ago. During those sessions, the song never quite took off but once we began writing Stone, one of the first things I did was pull that main guitar riff out of retirement to see if we could breathe new life into the bones of this song.”
