The Longest Ride actor also noted that Clint “was born coming out of the Great Depression, and then he was young during World War II. He saw a lot of struggle. There’s no room for complaining.

T’is the season — for male strippers? Yes, actually. Yes indeed.
Netflix’s new Christmas movie “The Merry Gentlemen” is now streaming, telling story of a young dancer who comes home to find that her parents’ business — and thus, her whole childhood, essentially — may be going under. So, to help save it, she organizes a Christmas-themed male revue to pull in ticket sales.
The movie features a lot of familiar faces, but perhaps some new ones for you too. So, we’ve got you covered.
Here are all the major players in “The Merry Gentlemen.”
Netflix Ashley (Britt Robertson)
Ashley is a professional dancer, who is unceremoniously fired for being too old (in her 30s). She’s played by “Tomorrowland” and “The Longest Ride” star Britt Robertson. She also starred in “The Space Between Us” and more recently, “The Rookie: Feds,” as well as a few episodes of “The Rookie.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for The Merry GentlemenThe Merry Gentlemen is a whole new kind of Christmas film for Netflix, taking more inspiration from Magic Mike than Frosty the Snowman. The Merry Gentlemen follows dancer Ashley as she returns home for Christmas to find that her parents' performing arts venue, The Rhythm Room, is close to closing down. In order to save her parents' business, Ashley hatches a plan to host a Christmas-themed performance by some of their town's most eligible bachelors.
With the help of her friends and family, Ashley creates the revue of a lifetime. The Merry Gentlemen is infused with both classic Christmas spirit and entertaining fun, boasting both heartfelt scenes and upbeat dance sequences. All around, The Merry Gentlemen is a fun time and keeps viewers entertained, and much of what makes The Merry Gentlemen work is the skill of its actors, and their performances as dancers.

When your dad is Clint Eastwood, being a nepo baby can apparently only get you so far. Scott Eastwood may have made his on-screen debut in his father's film "Flags of Our Fathers," but the actor hasn't worked with the prolific elder Eastwood in a number of years. In interviews, Scott Eastwood has frequently admitted to auditioning for bigger parts in his father's films, but he's also admitted that he never tends to get those roles.
"I was 18 years old when I called him and wanted to audition for 'Flags of Our Fathers,'" the younger Eastwood told The Independent back in 2015. "I was a young actor trying to make something of myself, working two jobs and hustling and he said: 'Well, we'll see. I'll give you a shot to audition.'" Though he didn't disclose which part he tried out for, Scott Eastwood said he "auditioned for one...

He may be one of the most iconic actors and directors in Hollywood history, but Clint Eastwood is also a proud dad.
The silver-screen legend has been married twice — first to Maggie Johnson from 1953–1984, then to Dina Eastwood from 1996–2014. And between his ex-wives and other previous relationships, he's welcomed eight children into the world over the years.

Being an actor means losing out on many, many roles, especially when you are just starting out. Glen Powell knows this agonizing truth all too well. The actor was initially known for his role in Scream Queens (2015-2016), where he played Chad Radwell. However, he gained worldwide fame and recognition only after playing Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). He then went on to star in his own rom-com, Anyone but You (2023) opposite the gorgeous Sydney Sweeney.

Glen Powell said that he missed out on the role of Han Solo in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" due to a poor final audition. Powell could have used his trademark charisma and experience from similarly morally ambiguous roles to be a great Han Solo. Although Powell could have been a fitting Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich gave a great performance in "Solo."
Glen Powell recently revealed that he tried out for the part of Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but that he "blew" the audition. Powell has starred in several high-profile movies recently, such as Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, but his career hasn't only been successes. Powell almost starred in the origin story of Han Solo, one of the most beloved and strongest non-Force users in Star Wars. Several well-known Hollywood stars have dabbled in the Western genre, but the Westerns they made were terrible. Westerns were, at one time, as popular as anything in the MCU or Dceu, but eventually stopped being popular by the end of the '70s. At that point, gritty crime dramas and action movies took precedence, and Westerns slowly began to fade into obscurity. These days, a new Western movie comes out every few years, with various actors strapping on a pair of six-shooters to try to recapture a little of the romanticism of the American frontier and the adventure of the Wild West.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including icons like Harrison Ford and Johnny Depp, have tried to recapture the magic of Westerns to no avail. Ford took to Westerns early in his career, while other stars, like Robert Duvall, revisited them after a long one spent dabbling...

It's a good time to be named Charlie Cox. Netflix's — and now Marvel's — "Daredevil" star is set to lead the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the blind lawyer with excessive Catholic guilt in "Daredevil: Born Again." With that renewed social currency, Cox is finding a wealth of other stories to tell. Among them is Netflix's upcoming limited series, "Treason," which the United Kingdoms and Ireland branch of the streaming juggernaut's Twitter account revealed the show's release date.
The announcement came bundled with a collection of first-look images showcasing Cox and some of his fellow cast members (more on them later) all looking very serious in suits and bulletproof vests. Considering "Treason" is set to be a spy thriller piece in the same vein as "James Bond" and "The Bourne Identity," the attire seems appropriate.

Updated, Sunday Am writethru after Saturday Am update: The wearing down of the MCU luster is unfortunately being seen, as Disney’s Thor: Love and Thunder is having a great fall, with a -68 drop for a second weekend to 46M. And the sequel isn’t even theatrical day-and-date like Black Widow was last year on Disney+. While the Taika Waititi-directed movie improved beyond its high 130M opening estimates last weekend into the 144M range, it’s clear those sour audience exits of a B+ CinemaScore and 3 1/2 stars are taking their toll.
Thor‘s second weekend drop ranks among the MCU’s worst, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (-67) and Black Widow (-68). Forget about Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s -68 second drop. That’s largely due to Christmas falling on a Saturday, and everyone knows that Sony/MCU title was making money hand over fist on a daily basis.

It seems that “Blair Witch Project” is still having an impact on filmmakers, with Prathamesh Patil implementing the approach of the American classic through the prism of vlogging and social media.
“The Longest Ride” review is part of the Submit Your Film Initiative
An over-enthusiastic YouTube vlogger who uploads videos of his rides with his bicycle, decides to take a longer trip, this time towards the bushes of Gorai. However, this rather urban boy finds himself having to face nature and realizes how ill-equipped he is, both mentally and practically. Danger becomes imminent, but a “Deus Ex Machina” appearance helps the protagonist avoid the worse. Was the whole thing worth it though?
Patil directs a short that seems to comment on the impact of social media and online fame, particularly on young people, with the protagonist essentially falling victim to it, in his effort to do something extreme, that will increase his audience.

Celebrated Andalusian production house La Claqueta, headed by producer Olmo Figueredo, will produce “Bella,” the debut animated feature from Spanish director Manuel H. Martín – with whom the company previously produced the award-winning documentary “30 Years of Darkness” and “El viaje mas largo,” and celebrated VFX supervisor Amparo Martínez Barco.
Martín also co-wrote the screenplay for “Bella,” working with award-winning filmmaker Carmen Jiménez, co-writer of 2019’s Spanish Academy Goya Award-nominated “Adiós,” starring Mario Casas.
“Bella” is inspired by the true story of Seville’s Ana Bella Estévez, an Ashoka España entrepreneur and a survivor of gender violence who founded the Ana Bella Foundation, a global network of more than 30,000 women survivors who work to create social change in 82 countries worldwide. Importantly, the film’s team chose animation as the medium to tell her story so that audiences of all ages can hear the important message Ana has dedicated her life to sharing.

Spain’s Oscar entry, “The Endless Trench,” a multi-award-winning feature from the Basque trio of Aitor Arregi, Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga, has also become a flagship production for the Andalusian film sector.
The film was set and shot in Andalusia, with Andalusian actors and co-produced by Seville-based La Claqueta. Released last year in Spain by eOne, the film was acquired by Netflix, and bowed in the U.S. on Nov. 6.
Inspired by real-life events after the Spanish Civil War, “Trench” mainly filmed in Huelva’s Higuera de la Sierra, Carboneras and Paymogo for its Andalusian leg. Olmo Figueredo and Manuel H. Martín’s outfit La Claqueta was key for “Trench’s” financing, documentation and narrative support.
“Trench” exemplifies the possibilities of inter-regional partnerships in the Spanish film industry, this time between Andalusia and the Basque Country. Co-produced by La Claqueta with Basque companies Irusoin and Moriarti Produkzioak, alongside France’s Manny Films,...

Scott Eastwood and Mel Gibson have joined the action-thriller “Dangerous,” along with Tyrese Gibson, Famke Janssen and Kevin Durand.
Eastwood will portray a reformed sociopath who, after the death of his brother, heads to a remote island which soon falls under the siege of a deadly gang of mercenaries. Forced to fend for himself, he discovers their role in his brother’s demise and sets off on a relentless quest for vengeance. Gibson will play a key supporting role.
The film is scheduled to shoot later this month in Canada and is being introduced to buyers at the online American Film Market. International Film Trust (Ift), Invico Capital and 3 Point Capital will finance with Ift selling worldwide rights minus Canada, and Mind’s Eye International selling Canada and co-repping the US with Ift.

You might expect director Rod Lurie (West Point class of 1984 with four years in military service) to push the flag-waving aspect of a film about the war in Afghanistan. Though The Outpost pays heartfelt tribute to the soldiers who fought and died during the bloody 2009 Battle of Kamdesh, he opens fire on the military hubris and stupidity that put these soldiers there in the first place. While President Obama talked of withdrawing troops, Army brass ordered a small unit of 53 U.S. soldiers to hold down Camp Outpost Keating, located...

Last year in the times of opulent movie showcase palaces with big wide screens and thundering digital sound two major studio features focused on the last century’s two world wars: 1917 and Midway. This holiday weekend sees the release of a major battle film from a more recent conflict. Without the big theatres to bask in the epic scope, this film goes for a more intimate approach. Instead of hopping from country to country, we’re embedded right there with the warriors as the world seems to explode all around them. Even with modern tech, the danger is just as abrupt and deadly. And for the last couple of decades, the hottest of the world’s hot spots (in nearly every way) was Afghanistan. As we celebrate our freedom on this patriotic holiday, it may be the perfect time to look back at another incident concerning those who gave...

Three Fox Searchlight films emerged from Venice and Telluride as potential Oscar players. Exclusive: Theresa Park and her Pow! Saying Goodbye to Yang is set in a world where robotic children are purchased as live-in-babysitters. The story follows Yang, a robotic Chinese “Big Brother,” programmed to help his little sister learn about her cultural heritage. When Yang malfunctions, it means the loss of a babysitter, and even more importantly, the loss of what the family has come to see as a member of their family, perhaps even a son.

The story follows Yang, a robotic Chinese “Big Brother,” programmed to help his little sister learn about her cultural heritage. When Yang malfunctions, it means the loss of a babysitter, and even more importantly, the loss of what the family has come to see as a member of their family, perhaps even a son.

Scott Eastwood tells us he would be up for playing the next live-action Wolverine when the character is inevitably re-introduced in the X-Men film universe. The actor’s career has been on the rise over the past several years. After a supporting role in David Ayer’s Fury, he co-starred in The Longest Ride before reuniting with Ayers on Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad seemed to help Eastwood make the jump into some big budget, blockbuster style films as he’s since appeared in The Fate of the Furious and now is co-starring alongside John Boyega in Pacific Rim Uprising.

Scott Eastwood (The Fate of the Furious, The Longest Ride) has joined Morgan Freeman in The Manuscript.
Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, The Other Woman) has also been lined up to direct the cat-and-mouse style thriller, replacing John Moore who was announced last year and working from a script by Louis Rosenberg and Joe Rosenbaum.
Also joining the production is Rob Paris via his eponymous Paris Film Inc. banner, which will produce alongside Mike Witherill (John Wick) and Mark Williams (The Accountant). Highland Film Group is handling international sales and will continue speaking to buyers at Berlin's European Film Market (Efm).

When you think of actor Scott Eastwood, the image that comes to mind is likely a clean-shaven guy with a flawlessly-groomed haircut, possibly wearing a perfectly-tailored suit (or, if you’ve seen The Longest Ride, shirtless). But the Pacific Rim Uprising actor looks totally different at the moment — so much so that we just had to do a double take.

Demi Moore as Suzanne Dutchman in Michael Mailer's Blind: "It's a film about perception."
Michael Mailer and producer Jennifer Gelfer discuss the selection of Demi Moore's wardrobe with costume designer Evren Catlin (Liz W Garcia's One Percent More Humid starring Juno Temple, Maggie Siff, Julia Garner, Alessandro Nivola), Dylan McDermott's character not covering up a tattoo, what is real and what isn't, and why Blind (which has a screenplay by John Buffalo Mailer) is not Disney or Nicholas Sparks (Message In A Bottle, A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, Nights In Rodanthe, Dear John, The Longest Ride).
