It was the wedding day of Dan and Skylar. Their best friends were all there: the best man Jack, the maid of honor Allison, and the photographer Tommy. Everything was going on perfectly until suddenly, a lot of people suddenly dropped to the floor dead. This was followed by a series of disasters of such magnitude the world had yet not known until that time, killing even more people.
All five friends survive and seek shelter with other survivors in a church. There they begin to realize what this major worldwide catastrophe was actually the Rapture previously described in Biblical prophecy. As they eventually realize the true meaning of these events, important spiritual decisions will have to be made in order to determine which life they will choose to live.
While this was still very much a B-movie, writer/director Casey La Scala did well in telling the story at a fast clip. The atmosphere of suspense and tension were effectively developed. The special visual effects were pretty good considering this was film with no name actors to speak of. La Scala did well not to blatantly show those supernatural beings which snatched people off to the sky. I must admit though that the shaky camera work did make me dizzy a bit, so I could not keep my eyes on the screen all the time.
Though it was not obvious from the title nor the trailer, this film is actually a vehicle for Christian preaching. The message was not subtle. It is out there for the audience to listen to and reflect on. I do not think I have seen such a horror film with an overtly religious intent. As a Catholic, I did not mind it. However, if you are one of those who do not like religion mixed with their film entertainment, this will not be for you.

Confirms one reason I am not religious- terrorizing people because they don't believe in you or praise you. Seriously/ it just helped me double down on no religion although to be fair that was me previously.
The movie itself was okay but the message is a lot. Good people- flawed- but good- fighting for their lives and terrorized. So yes that is entertaining but the acting and the intent is what bothers me. Believe what you want but in what other situation would you ever follow or think someone is good if this is how they handle rejection. Many men and women have died for others- they did not demand you believe in them or else.

I cannot belive what did I just watched. It started as a romantic comedy movie, something about wedding and when twp people collapsed in a lift this was quite unexpected. I started to suspect that it id going to be a detective. When many people collapsed I realized that the movir made a genre switch to some kind of catastrophe theme. Then it looked like some alien movie, then it lost a plot completely. So, one hour on with only 20 mon left to conclude it still was not clear how all this mess is going to be resolved. In the end no one was trying to resolve anything. They all quickly die. The end. That's it. I cannot belive I wated 1.5 hours of my life on something I do not even understand what was it. Do not watch it. Save your soul.

Unlike others I did know this was a Christian film company before I watched it. Saw and joined the FB page awhile back and have been looking forward to seeing it for awhile. Let me state I am not a practicing Christian. I have some background though and know the book of Revelations. In fact I used to say it would make a great horror movie.
I was impressed by the movie as a whole. There was a bit of preachiness to it but I mean it's a movie based on a book of the bible, how could it not be preachy?? I didn't expect to recognize any of the actors, figure they would draw from some secret database of Christian actors so I was surprise to see Alexa Vega (Repo/Devils Carnival) and the kid who played Aaron on Vampire Diaries. They both did well as did the other actors. Much better then I expected. As for the writing there were a few times something felt off but how can I fault the writer, I mean it was god right? I guess they had to condense for the length of a movie because if I remember right all this happens in 7 years of trials & tribulations in the bible. Also thought a nice touch would have been the survivors having to accept a mark in order to get food and supplies. Overall though it held together and kept me entertained. Judging it as a "Christian Horror" I'd give it a 9/10 because it's much better done and less preachy then anything else claiming that title. Judging just as a Horror or Disaster movie I'd give it a 6/10 so I'm going to average it out and say 7.5

This movie is beyond bad. Poor acting, bad screenplay and scripts, no effects, no props... there is NOTHING good in this movie except for the intro of the Rapture. And the ending was just absurd. It's like they changed the director after the fist 20 minutes and killed the movie. It's been a while since I've last watched something that bad.

My boyfriend and I rented this movie after seeing a preview for it. And I have to say I was mislead as to what the movie was about. As a horror genre fan, I went into this movie expecting a horror movie.
I respect what others may chose to believe, but please....keep it away from the horror genre. If this is what we can expect, at least issue a statement or warning(for lack of a better term) to us who don't want faith thrown in our faces.
Aside from that, acting and special effects were decent. Just very disappointed and would have preferred to rate this movie with a negative instead of the 1.

First off I have to start by saying yes this film is talking about the bible so of course it's going to come off a little bit on the preachy side.At the same time this has got to be one of the best Christian type film I've seen. The acting was top notch. Me and friends were in a almost empty theater watching this I myself am a horror fan so anything that looks remotely scary I'll see. So when the trailer came out I thought OMG this is going to be terrible. But I went anyways and I was really surprised I jumped so many times and we were all really really on edge waiting for the next thing to happen. So yes it is about the end of the world in biblical sense and it looks scary as hell. See it for yourself and don't let the message throw you off they actually do it right.

Wow! I was surprised by how quickly I got hooked on it.
The chaos and all natural disaster stuff was really well done, the effects were pretty good.
For a movie I had no idea what it was about, it turned out to be quite entertaining. Except the ending, which sucked big time!
I didn't care for all the religious bs, but it got pretty annoying by as the movie went on. It would've been good to show the strange creatures (fallen angels?). But it was pretty scary and tense not seeing them at all.
To sum up: it's just another average end-of-the-world, survival and suspense-horror flick.
Don't take it too serious and you might enjoy it.

An 'iPhone is a central character', 'found footage', 'shaky cam' attempt at the rapture. I personally derive nothing from the subject matter being a devout Athiest, so I treated it for what is was: a work of science fiction. I suggest however you attempt to view through the (luckily) few 'christian product placement' moments and you might actually enjoy it without too much cringing. Unfortunately this movie is peppered with the clichés of its genre and offers nothing new. 'Noah', 'Left Behind' and others; cinema is the new church and you are the unwitting participant in Bible study Hollywood style. Rant aside, The Remaining might appeal whether you're a believer with an express ticket to bliss, or overlooked with the rest of us poor saps.

I was brought up as a catholic with a devout catholic mother but with a protestant father. I had little choice but to attend a catholic school and, that had me hating nuns because it confirmed to me that Nuns were vicious awful people (there are a few who are not) who thrived on beating/caning children. I was an altar boy who was meant to go to school/college for trainee Priests when I was 11 years of age. After many talks with my head priest about the faith and receiving no solid confirmation for any of the questions I put to him, I decided I wanted no more to do with an unproved and wicked religion.
I have mentioned the above so that you understand I do know what I am talking about when it concerns bible thumping theory etc. I am an old man now and I have come to hate all religions as they are nothing but a literal hell on earth, caused by over the top religious fanatics who act like they are insane. Religion is the evil that exists foremost on our planet and, it is thrust, on all of us who do not believe, upon everyone constantly in the form of this kind of rubbish that I have been watching. The acting and the film was just pure God-Squad preaching under the guise of a film/horror story.
Why can't anything that is about a religious theologian ideology be kept off/out of mainstream media and shown only on designated television channels. Its a hurtful cheek to people of other religions to have Catholicism rammed down their throats when it is not what they follow.
I never have to watch films based upon other religions (I have watched the odd documentary or two), even the Jehovah Witnesses have gone quiet these days; why can't the annoying pain in the neck Catholics keep it to themselves and stop hassling/pestering all of us who are not of their faith.
Its only got a 1 score because I have to give it a score to have my review uploaded.
All films of a religious nature should be clearly stated as such in the opening credits so that people, who do not want to watch such BS, can have the choice to switch to something else!

Those who give this movie low scores are speaking from the discomfort of their own spiritual rebellion against God. They try to hide this fact with ambiguous criticism of the premise, script, acting, anything as a reason to not like the film, but this is only cover for the fact that the REAL reason they didn't like it is because it struck a spiritual nerve, and that SMARTS!
On the contrary, the actual quality of the movie is quite good. So, there really isn't a reason to ding it based on that. I think the movie was ambiguous about not explaining sufficiently enough that once you're left behind when the rapture hits, you're going to die very shortly thereafter. The question is: Will you die with a faith in God or without? It won't change your temporal fate, but it changes your spiritual fate. Many reviewers didn't comprehend that.

While it may not coincide with events foretold by the Scriptures, this movie explains the extent of what happens when the rapture event occurs. We need to make a choice. While some criticize this as "Christian noise" and other such put-downs, many recognize this as the only real question we face here on this earth. Evil exists and will be allowed to rule one day here, and you had better be prepared. Those who deny have willfully shut their eyes to what this movie portrays. I think this movie accurately portrays the evil that surrounds the earth once the good is removed. Before the apocalyptic events occur, there is a cap on evil and good remains, pictured here by a wedding. When the rapture comes and all believers are removed from the scene, those who are left face the horrifying truth that without this covering from God, what is left is unspeakable and terrifying in its finality. The hope is that God can still be chosen even with this terrifying reality.

Do NOT waste your time on this religious brainwashing propaganda disguised as a crappy sci-fi horror movie. Absolute garbage!!!!
Who is funding this propaganda? It seems more and more crappy religious films are being released to try and brainwash people.
Basic premise of the movie..... if you haven't bowed down to the Christian "God" and given yourself completely to Christian religion..... you will be killed/tortured when the Christian Rapture (end of the world) arrives.
Feel bad for some of the actors and actresses..... this crap isn't going to do much for your careers.
Do NOT waste your hard earned money on this garbage!
