After a slow start of 2.3 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix, viewership of Andrew Scott’s “Ripley” barely increased in its first full week of availability. The limited series reached 2.5 million views between April 8 and April 14, making it the streamer’s No. 6 English-language TV title of the week — low for a project of its caliber, given the talent and IP attached.
Meanwhile, “Sex and the City” fell of the chart after debuting at No. 6 when it was added to Netflix the week before via a licensing deal. Though it may or may not be far behind this week’s No. 10 series, it seems that the HBO classic didn’t reach Gen Z in the way Netflix had hoped — or maybe they’re just tuning in on Max, where the series was already available.

The premiere week of Netflix’s “Ripley” elbowed “3 Body Problem” out of the No. 1 slot among streaming original series for the week of April 5-11, according to Luminate streaming ratings.
Among streaming original movies, “Scoop” managed a solid break for Netflix while Amazon Prime Video’s “Road House” hung tough in its third full week in release, as reported by Luminate in its weekly Top 10 Streaming Originals charts for series and movies.
“Ripley,” the much talked-about adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s classic fraudster saga “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” from Oscar-winning screenwriter Steve Zaillian, debuted with about 670.1 million minutes watched across its eight episodes. That translates to about 1.5 million views.
A sleeper entrant at No. 2 was Netflix’s unscripted crime docu “Files of the Unexplained,” with 531.3 million minutes watched across eight episodes. The show’s audience grew 276% in its first full week in release after premiering on April 3.

Good crime dramas are supposed to be gripping—ones you cannot take your eyes off even for a minute. Several crime dramas are straightforward and do not take much time to set up the premise. Narcos, Bodyguard, Ozark, Mindhunter, Money Heist, Iron Reign, and Peaky Blinders are some of the original Netflix shows that explored various facets of the crime drama genre and presented great stories through them.
Crooks is a new addition to this genre on the streaming platform that talks about the workings of various criminal gangs around certain countries in Europe and how they are interconnected. Created by Marvin Krey, Crooks is a German Netflix original, released on April 4, 2024.
Crooks is eight episodes long, with each having a runtime of forty minutes to one hour. The show is all about a prized historical coin that was stolen from a museum in Berlin by the Al-Walid crime ring of the city.

For those of us who religiously watch “Sex and the City” on whatever platform it is currently streaming on (hi), April 1 is an exciting day. That’s the day the popular HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker is coming to Netflix — for the very first time. And TBS reruns this is not: This is the full, unedited, groundbreaking show, now just waiting for viewers new and old to do a Netflix binge. (Paging Gen Z!)

Netflix presented 17 feature films, series, documentaries and reality shows at a special event in Berlin.

Netflix Germany unveiled a pair of feature films, including Wiedemann & Berg title Brick, true-crime docs and a reality competition series this evening at a showcase in Berlin.

Among the new titles is feature Brick (working title), which is currently being filmed and stars the likes of Matthias Schweighöfer, Ruby O. Fee and Frederick Lau. Slated to launch in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Dach) in 2025, the film follows a couple, Tim and Olivia, whose apartment building suddenly surrounded by a mysterious brick wall. Netflix is facing a scarcity of creatives as it battles the talent supply issues affecting the whole industry, according to Germany, Switzerland and Austria content chief Katja Hofem.
While the streamer is noted for being able to hand lucrative opportunities to creatives and poach them from rival players, Netflix is witnessing “a lot of challenges in our market” Hofem told delegates during her Series Mania keynote yesterday.

Netflix teased its slate of new European series, including Part 3 of hit heist show “Lupin” starring Omar Sy, during its showcase at Series Mania in Lille.
The standing room-only session — which featured two DJs on stage spinning tracks to a Netflix sizzle — was a “roadshow”-style presentation that featured a number of clips from the streamer’s forthcoming European shows, followed by a short panel with commissioners Katja Hofem from Germany, Damien Couvreur from France and Jenny Stjernströmer Björk from the Nordics. Each briefly discussed their new shows but didn’t go into detail about their editorial strategies.
Due to the exclusive nature of the clips, security was extremely strict at the session, with French guards shouting at delegates — including journalists — to put away any laptops and phones, making any reporting of the session virtually impossible.
The streamer announced Season 2 of its off-beat comedy series “Represent,” starring Cesar-nominated actor-director Jean-Pascal Zadi...
