Ben Schwartz, the voice behind Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, is eyeing his next big role and has set his sights on playing Plastic Man in the DC Universe. During a recent Q&a session, Schwartz shared his excitement about the possibility of bringing the stretchy superhero to life under James Gunn’s direction.
When a fan on the social media platform X asked if he still had a shot at playing Plastic Man, Schwartz responded enthusiastically. “It would be a dream come true,” he wrote. “But whoever they get for that role, I’ll be excited that the character is out there in the world in a big fun way. James is in the zone with all of this stuff. He’ll nail it. And I’ll be first in line to buy a ticket.”

In “Plastic,” directed by Daisuke Miyazaki, youth, love, and the unrelenting passage of time are explored against the backdrop of Nagoya, Japan. The film follows Jun (Takuma Fujie) and Ibuki (An Ogawa), two teens who meet by chance because they love the fictional glam-rock band Exne Kedy. Their first encounter—Ibuki pedaling home, lured to Jun’s street busking—lays the groundwork for a beautiful romance that captures adolescence’s naïve energy.
We witness their relationship evolve from charming beginnings to the complexities of adulthood, marked by aspirations, separations, and the overwhelming influence of the epidemic as the narrative progresses. Miyazaki’s film not only follows their personal journey but also resonates with a broader cultural background, reflecting a generation wrestling with aspirations and realities that frequently contradict.

It is clear that R rated superhero movies have an audience if they are solid films. This was proven when Deadpool was released in 2016 and made over seven hundred million dollars. Logan was released the following year and made over six hundred million dollars. For R rated movies, that’s incredible. For superhero movies that’s, amazingly, not an enormous amount of money. Then, Deadpool 2 made seven hundred eighty five million dollars in 2018. Infamously, Joker, technically a comic book movie while not truly a superhero movie, made over a billion dollars becoming the highest grossing R rated movie of all time. It was recently dethroned by Deadpool and Wolverine which grossed 1.33 billion. This trend did not continue with Joker 2, but there’s reasons for that we won’t get into here.
In five out of the last eight years, there have been R comic book rated movies released that were very successful.

Superhero films bring a lot of success and fame to those who star in them. Be it the Dcu or Marvel, those who head projects can easily earn in the millions. While this is surely an added benefit, in all of their success, it seems that Hollywood has forgotten what these films actually mean to the fans. Many actors have talked about roles they took within these franchises, chalking their motivations to be purely financial.

Due to this, many fans have been wary about the actors that are getting cast in upcoming projects. Most recently, comedian John Mulaney talked about his interest in playing Plastic Man. The description given by the actor may cause fans to get upset, and James Gunn may be one of them.

Much like Jane Schoenbrun’s I Saw The TV Glow, writer-director Miyazaki Daisuke’s Plastic is at its strongest, warmest, and most endearing when it’s fixated on the bond between two kids united by their shared love for a forgotten piece of fictional pop culture ephemera. But where I Saw the TV Glow rails against the loss of youth, Plastic seems content to wander around the streets of Nagoya aimlessly noodling on guitars.

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Plastic Man No More! #1!DC is using a C-list Justice League member to take shots at some of the publishers most iconic characters, with even Superman and Wonder Woman not spared from the verbal roast. True to form, though, Batman manages to dodge the savagery entirely, once again affirming the Dark Knight's undeniable cool factor.
Christopher Cantwell, Jacob Edgar, Alex Lins, and Marcelo Maiolo's Plastic Man No More! #1 offers an insider look at the Justice League's team dynamics through the eyes of Plastic Man (Patrick "Eel" O'Brian).
In a key battle, the usually indestructible O'Brian is hit with a death ray that leaves his elasticity in a somewhat melted state. When he shares his concerns with the team, they laugh it off, virtually ignoring him. Frustrated and feeling dismissed, Plastic Man heads home, where he launches into a rant, roasting his fellow heroes.

Though Elon Musk’s chatbot on X claimed that Donald Trump was missing his dentures during the pair’s livestream on Monday night, Seth Meyers has a different theory. The NBC host joked on Tuesday that it sounded more like the man was wearing fake vampire teeth.
For the record, Grok — said “AI” chatbot we mentioned — wasn’t actually making claims based on facts. The program uses trending topics to create news summaries for the social media platform’s premium subscribers. Because the word “slurring” started trending during Trump’s conversation with Musk, Grok used that to create a summary called “Trump’s Dentures In Discussion Amid Speech.”

The Boys and its spinoff Gen V feature superheroes with the most unconventional superpowers imaginable. The landscape of both series is filled with extraordinary abilities ranging from inspiring to bizarre. In this post, we will learn about some of the weirdest superpowers that will leave you questioning the limits of human potential.
Elastic Body - Ezekiel (The Boys)
Ezekiel was not a member of the seven but was kind of a celebrity like the rest of the superheroes. He was the main organizer of Caps for Christ and strongly influenced the public. His body possessed the power of elasticity, and he could stretch, twist, and contort it unimaginably.
He could make bizarre and disturbing shapes with his body that were hard to watch. The character is a parody of superheroes like Plastic Man by DC and Mr.

Months after the “Camp Rock” actor Joe Jonas filed for divorce from the “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner, they have failed to reach a settlement in their divorce case.
Following their failure to reach a settlement, Sophie has requested that their divorce proceedings be reactivated.
The musician, 34, and the actress, 28, began dating in 2016. The following year 2017, they got engaged. In May 2019, the two had a shotgun wedding but by June they followed it up with a proper wedding.

James Gunn wanted Matthew Lillard to play Plastic Man in a movie 23 years ago, but it never happened. With Gunn now co-ceo of DC Studios, the timing is perfect for Lillard's portrayal of the DC hero. Plastic Man's malleable look and Lillard's charismatic acting make him a great fit for the upcoming DC Universe.
James Gunn failed to get one DC character off the ground 23 years ago, but the time is finally right for his perfect pairing to hit the big screen in the new DC Universe. Despite some undeniable high points over its 10-year run, the DC Extended Universe, which started with 2013's Man of Steel, will come to a close when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom releases this December. Replacing it will be a new DC Universe canon, complete with a bevy of new characters and a more unified narrative plan for the future.

Paralyzed by societal lockdowns, spiritual isolation, and deaths in the millions, the aftermath of Covid-19's rampant virulency continues to deepen the ignorance of a people left traumatized and numb by its ceaseless waves of devastation. Simultaneously fresh and distant, memories of the decade thus far are still distinctly raw, a stinging reminder of mortality, impermanence, and the absurd futility of existence. Though humanity blazes forward with its eyes firmly negating the rearview mirror, many remain immobilized in a state of ennui, desperate yet incapable of regaining control and contentment. Daisuke Miyazaki's coming-of-age drama ‘Plastic' wades into the deep end of this murky quagmire and slowly subdues itself under the crushing weight of its own hopelessness; stripped of pleasure and joy, both the film and its characters struggle to merely exist in a world brought to a complete standstill.

As the 2023 awards season fades into the rearview mirror, it’s time to look past the big winners and red carpet moments to the long-lasting environmental impact of major awards shows, and how it can be improved going forward. Sheila Morovati, founder of sustainability nonprofit Habits of Waste, has made the fight against single-use plastics in Hollywood, and at large, her mission, and has put a particular spotlight on the use of plastic water bottles at awards events.
Morovati points out that for years, companies like Fiji Water and Icelandic Glacial have partnered with shows — including the Golden Globes, Grammys, Critics Choice Awards and Spirit Awards — as sponsors, leading to hundreds of plastic bottles being consumed by guests. As the comic book industry’s ‘Big Two’, Marvel and DC have been trading barbs for years. But beyond coy references to one another’s business practices, the rivalry between the two titans has occasionally led to the creation of parody characters intended to lampoon the competition.
While DC is home to some truly iconic and original heroes, hidden away in its universe are a number of characters and teams intended to playfully rib Marvel Comics and its universe. Some may be a bit more biting than others, but the following ten are DC’s best Marvel parodies.

Hong Kong-based indie sales agent Good Move Media has added Japanese music drama “Plastic” to its FilMart slate.
The film is directed by Miyazaki Daisuke, the Japanese helmer behind “Yamato (California),” which had festival play in 2016, and 2019 slacker youth title “Tourism” in 2019.
The new picture is the story of teenagers Juna and Ibuki, who set out to find the psychedelic rock band Exne Kedy. Exne Kedy is a fictional creation from musician Ide Kensuke, who previously released punky album “Kensuke Ide With His Mothership — Contact From Exne Kedy and the Poltergeists,” but the band is actually credited as performing and providing part of the music track in the film. “Plastic” is recently completed and headed for a theatrical release in Japan in July.

There is no regional music scene that has flourished the past two years like Michigan rap. And there is no bigger fan of Michigan rap than Lil Yachty. During this period, Yachty has spent a disproportionate amount of time hanging out in the recording studios and gas station parking lots of Detroit and Flint, ingratiating himself amongst the state’s premier street rappers and doing as the locals do — acting playful and dead-serious at the same time, rapping loose on fast beats, forgoing hooks, and stringing together verses out of darkly funny one-liners.

It’s that time of year when the Christmas/ Holiday/ Winter Solstice/Hanukkah/ Kwanzaa Specials come out. Not all different ones of course, but these days the books try and be inclusive and include all the above. DC have cleverly sidestepped the yearly outrage at using either Christmas or Holidays in the title. Life’s too short. I’ve been enjoying these seasonal specials in one shape or another for many years, going back to the late 70’s. I still have most of them and still read them every year in the run up to Christmas. Digital now means I don’t even have to fight my way into the correct comic storage box too, an annual tradition I’m pleased to let go. The stories are generally light and a bit of fun, but that’s the spirit of the season.
