Truth Is the Shrewdest Lie

The aftermath of trauma to both our heroines is a chance for Taylor Sheridan to go sentimental, a refreshing alternative to the cold, hard-nosed action of this CIA series. Nicole Kidman provides a cold-hearted, steely antidote.

Second half of the brief episode has Zoe's team, including Oliveira flown home from her main assignment, executing a dangerous impromptu mission, preventing a terrorist bombing in Texas, that follows her team's screwed up illegal mission organized by bad boy Kyle. Extremely concise depiction of a special ops mission (it's all over in about 4 minutes) is amazing, instead of stringing along planning, etc., over the course of several episodes.

It's all an interlude in the midst of Oliveira's main mission among the jet-setters, and the segment ends on a glum note. I bet Sheridan's favorite spy movie is "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold" -he digs seriousness rather than fun.
