Sofia Carson and Noah Centineo have been appointed as ambassadors for the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will stream live on Netflix on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. Et/5 p.m. Pt.

Each year, the SAG Awards select ambassadors who “exemplify the utmost values of the acting profession, serve as positive role models for the next generation of performers and actively use their platform to advocate for humanitarian and public service endeavors.”

As ambassadors, Carson and Centineo will provide viewers with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the ceremony, participate in select SAG Awards pre-show events and raise awareness for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and its programs, including the Disaster Relief Fund. Everything Now starring Sophia Wilde is one of Netflix's most underrated shows, in my opinion. It's a little darker than Ginny and Georgia, but at the center of the story is Mia. She's a struggling teen who has returned to school after being away to treat her eating disorder. We know that Ginny is also going through mental health issues, and the two teens are similar here.

It's also a really great show about struggles in high school and trying to fit in after being away.

Layoffs are underway at Disney Entertainment Television on Wednesday. Roughly 140 people are affected, representing about 2% of the total Det workforce.

National Geographic is the hardest-hit brand with about 60 layoffs, or some 13% of its staff. Other significantly impacted divisions include the ABC Owned Television Stations, Freeform, the operational side of the Disney linear entertainment networks, Unscripted, Marketing and Publicity. No teams are being eliminated.

Not surprisingly, Disney’s linear networks are taking the brunt of the staffing cuts, particularly those that do not provide the company’s streaming platforms with highly popular originals such as FX’s Shōgun or ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy that drive viewership and subscriptions.

Saum is best known for her role as Lena Adams Foster in Freeform’s The Fosters and spinoff, Good Trouble. Her other credits include the role of Bess in Season 2 of HBO’s In Treatment, as well as recurring roles in FX’s Rescue Me, the original Gossip Girl, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the CW’s Roswell, New Mexico, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, and opposite Jessica Biel in Peacock limited series Limetown.

Saum recently starred as Ellie Whedon in Netflix’s Locke & Key. She recurred opposite Clifford ‘Method Man’ Smith, Jr. in Starz’s Power spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost as well as in Peacock’s sci-fi drama, Mrs Davis, and most recently in Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives, which premiered on April 25.

Based on the filmmaker’s real-life events, Our Family Pride tells the personal journey of a family that comes together through conflict and difficult times, amid finding out their father is gay later in life. Mike (Clayton), along with his mother and siblings, must confront this new reality as well as their own personal struggles on the path to acceptance.

Pic is slated to start shooting later this month in Florida’s Palm Beaches and Ft. Lauderdale areas.

Dios mio! Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are scuttling toward expanding the reach of Blue Beetle with a new animated series. Miguel Puga has been working on the Blue Beetle animated series since early 2024 and will act as the project’s showrunner and director, with Cristian Martinez writing the scripts.

Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the top talent behind DC’s 2023 film, return for the Blue Beetle animated series as executive producers alongside John Richard. Galen Vaisman, who helped executive produce the movie, oversees the animated adaptation. Casting for the project remains a mystery, though Deadline says DC is in contact with multiple stars from the live-action film. Although deals still need to be implemented, their response was positive.

The Blue Beetle animated series continues the story started in Soto’s live-action film. If audiences connect with the animated series, DC could continue the story in a new live-action sequel.

Rosie O’Donnell has joined the Season 3 cast of Max’s Sex and the City continuation, TVLine has confirmed. The actress and comedian first revealed the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of the season premiere script. The episode is titled “Outlook Good” and written and directed by showrunner Michael Patrick King, and O’Donnell revealed that her character’s name is Mary.

The seventh and final season premiere of “Station 19” revealed the fate of beloved firefighter Jack Gibson after he collapsed during the tragic accident at the firefighter’s ball in the previous finale. Despite being canceled, the people behind Freeform's Good Trouble are telling fans what they had planned for the story of a potential Season 6.

The Fosters spin-off series ran for five seasons on the Disney-owned Freeform network from January 2019 to March 2024. 

However, with the end of Season 5 also came the cancellation of the beloved TV drama, with Disney moving away from The Fosters universe after more than a decade of stories.

Good Trouble ended on Freeform last night with an extended series finale episode, but it was not initially filmed that way. The drama's fifth season wrapped filming in June ahead of its cancellation in December.

The series stars Cierra Ramirez, Tommy Martinez, Emma Hunton, Sherry Cola, Zuri Adele, Josh Pence, Bryan Craig, and Booboo Stewart. It features characters first seen in The Fosters. The story follows Mariana (Ramirez) and others who live in a small apartment building in Los Angeles. Maia Mitchell, who departed at the end of season four, returned for the series' final episode.

With Good Trouble Season 5 Episode 20, we saw a significant chapter close for this refreshing, conscientious, and inspiring series.

Sadly, not only did the series finale mark the end of Good Trouble, but it also meant the last chapter of The Fosters franchise closed.

The series' end leaves a massive void in the television landscape for similar series that combined a found family element with a timely exploration of social issues while bending genres.

We've lost something special, and that's a sentiment we unpack in our Good Trouble Series Finale Review.

But TV Fanatic had the pleasure of speaking with co-creator, showrunner, and EP Joanna Johnson.

She chatted about ending a decade-long journey, the unexpected cancellation, and the impact Good Trouble leaves behind.

With a heavy heart and the taste of bittersweetness, with Good Trouble Season 5 Episode 20, we not only said goodbye to the series but also marked the end of a franchise.

As a result, this unplanned finale had double the impact, as characters we've experienced for an entire decade signed off, presumably for the last time.

It's never easy to say goodbye to a series that has made it this far. In an industry where we frequently see series get the boot before it can even get into telling its stories, Good Trouble making it five seasons is a remarkable feat.

And even the diehard, most dedicated fans of this series often agree that the series was due to get wrapped up sooner rather than later.

‘Good Trouble’ Co-Creator Breaks Down the Series’ Emotional Farewell

“Good Trouble,” which aired its series finale on Freeform Tuesday, has been a flagship show for the channel’s Gen-z and liberal-leaning audience since it premiered in 2018. The drama was a spinoff from “The Fosters,” a groundbreaking, foundational show for ABC Family, Freeform’s previous name before it rebranded with a heavier focus on programming for politically active 20somethings. “Good Trouble” centered on “The Fosters” characters Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) as they moved into a communal loft space called The Coterie in downtown Los Angeles, and began their post-grad adult lives.

The Freeform series ended Tuesday night after five seasons, concluding more than a decade of television telling the stories of the Adams-Foster family and those closest to them. In some ways, Good Trouble ended exactly how it began — with Callie and Mariana.

Maia Mitchell rejoined Cierra Ramirez one last time for the finale, in which the residents of The Coterie find out the building is being sold and they’ll all need to move out. As they gather for a final Coterie dinner and rooftop hang, everyone reminisces on all they’ve gone through together. Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to Uinta Productions and Paper Street Pictures’ “Snow Valley,” the directorial debut from the late Brandon Murphy.

Murphy, who died in January 2022, was the screenwriter for “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.” He also wrote the script for “Snow Valley,” which was in post production at the time of his death.

When the nostalgia kicks in, that's when it hits the hardest that this series will be signing off permanently.

With an hour like Good Trouble Season 5 Episode 18, it gathers many beloved characters together for a happy event with classic Coterie feelings and delivers on some of The Fosters' nostalgia.

Not only did we have a happy, content, and beautifully in love Callie to contend with and elicit all the "feels," but Stef, Lena, Jude, and Brandon's presence pulled at a girl's heartstrings.

Gosh, dammit, I really miss The Fosters!

I miss The Fosters and mourn the loss of family dramas of the same caliber that excelled at compelling storytelling and tapping into all the emotions that the human experience entails.

They don't make family dramas like that anymore. I certainly don't see too many of them on a roster anywhere.

After more than a decade, Cierra Ramirez is getting ready to say goodbye to Mariana Adams Foster.

The role not only helped launch her acting career when The Fosters debuted in 2013, but also opened the door for opportunities behind the camera. Ramirez has served as an executive producer on the spinoff series Good Trouble since it launched.

It only makes sense that, before the series wraps, Ramirez would don yet another cap on set: director. Ramirez makes her directorial debut with Tuesday’s episode, titled “Party of One” — an opportunity she told Deadline she’s been chomping at the bit for.

“I’ve always been super enamored by what happens behind the scenes or behind the camera, just as much as I am passionate about being in front of the camera,” she said.
