Last year, we learned that Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg would be re-teaming with Annabelle: Creation screenwriter Gary Dauberman for a movie based on the horror video game Until Dawn. Production began in August, wrapping in October, and the film is aiming for an April 25, 2025 theatrical release. A couple of days ago, a teaser video dropped online to allow Sandberg and Dauberman to explain their approach to the material. Now, a full trailer has been unveiled, giving us a look at the result of that approach. You can check it out in the embed above.
As The Hollywood Reporter previously noted, first released in 2015, Until Dawn is an interactive horror video game that follows eight friends and frenemies who are brought together a remote mountain retreat. We absolutely can't wait for Ginny and Georgia season 3 to arrive on Netflix, which the streamer has promised will be sometime this year! Well, with filming finished on the season, hopefully the streaming service won't make us wait too long into 2025 to see what happens next. As we wait and in the meantime, here's 4 shows like Ginny and Georgia to watch that we recommend!
Everything Now
Everything Now starring Sophia Wilde is one of Netflix's most underrated shows, in my opinion. It's a little darker than Ginny and Georgia, but at the center of the story is Mia. She's a struggling teen who has returned to school after being away to treat her eating disorder. We know that Ginny is also going through mental health issues, and the two teens are similar here.
It's also a really great show about struggles in high school and trying to fit in after being away.

Family stories have been a television staple for as long as there’s been TV.
They tug at our heartstrings, make us laugh, and remind us that, no matter how chaotic things get, family — whether by blood or by choice — is at the core of the human experience.
But what exactly constitutes “family” has changed dramatically over the years, and television has kept pace, reflecting those shifts in compelling, sometimes groundbreaking ways.
Let’s dive in together and explore how these shows have mirrored our evolving views on what it means to be a family.

Back in the early days of TV, family dramas were practically an extension of a Hallmark card: wholesome, harmonious, and just a little too perfect.
Shows like Leave It to Beaver, Father Knows Best, and The Brady Bunch painted a picture of the ideal nuclear family.

Is anyone even watching young adult TV anymore?
As the entire television ecosystem has been upended in recent years, dedicated spaces for YA content have all but disappeared. The CW swiftly cancelled nearly all of its scripted series, many of which targeted this audience, over the last few years. Freeform has done the same.
The streamers have largely taken up the mantle on speaking to young audiences, but still questions remain. With the rise of short-form content thanks to TikTok and YouTube, does this new generation of teens and young adults even care for longform, scripted content? How can streamers compete for Gen Z’s attention in such a fractured landscape?
“I don’t think the demand is dwindling,” Greg Berlanti, who has produced some of the most culturally relevant YA content of the past two decades from Dawson’s Creek to Riverdale, told Deadline. “There will always be a place for great YA.

National Adoption Day is Saturday, November 23. It’s a day to celebrate adoptions and finalize adoptions for children waiting in foster care.
National Adoption Day is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and we wanted to honor it by honoring the best TV adoption storylines.
We’ve chosen several adoption storylines, from infant adoptions to teenagers relinquishing their babies to special needs adoptions to step-parent adoptions. We hope some of these will resonate with you.
(Freeform/Screenshot)
Adoption is an important topic to me because I was adopted, so I was delighted to see stories like mine represented in shows in the 1980s like Punky Brewster and Anne of Green Gables.
Since the 2000s, even more series have covered it.
Shows like The Oc and The Fosters highlighted the importance of taking in troubled teens and accepting them as part of your family. They are an often overlooked group.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is the much-anticipated sequel to Disney Channel's hit show Wizards of Waverly Place, which launched the careers of Selena Gomez and Jake T. Austin, who play two of the Russo siblings opposite David Henrie. Austin's character, Max Russo, was the mischievous youngest sibling of the bunch, and the sibling who ultimately lost his powers in the family wizard competition at the original show's conclusion, instead inheriting the family business. Now, Alex is a member of the Wizard World Tribunal, and Justin is a middle school vice principal, husband, and father of two on Staten Island, New York.
The original show followed the Italian-Mexican Russo family living in New York City's East Village and running a sandwich shop modeled after a subway car while living double lives as wizards. While the Wizards of Waverly Place finale saw Alex and Justin manage to strike a unique deal...

It’s been just over 10 years since “Wizards of Waverly Place” came to an end on Disney Channel, and now it’s time for the next generation to come in with “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.”
Premiering on Disney Channel on Tuesday night, the sequel series centers on Justin Russo (David Henrie), now grown up and living a non-magical life with his wife and two sons. That is, until his sister Alex (Selena Gomez) shows up at his door with a young, powerful wizard who needs a teacher.
Though the new series follows a new set of characters, fans will definitely see some of the old ones in the show. But just in case you’re impatient — or your fave may not appear — we’ve rounded everyone up for you.
Here’s what the original “Wizards of Waverly Place” cast looks like then and now.

Key Takeaways: Meemaw's priorities are her grandchildren, leading to her avoiding serious relationships. Meemaw had notable relationships with John Sturgis and Dale Ballard on Young Sheldon. Despite ups and downs, Meemaw ultimately ends up with Dale after a tumultuous relationship journey.
One of the biggest questions going into the final season of Young Sheldon was who Meemaw ends up with. Connie, aka Meemaw has had some notable relationships over the course of the series with some being more serious than others. At the end of the day, however, Meemaw's priorities are her grandchildren. Sometimes this has led her to avoid taking her relationships to the next level, turning down a number of suitors and dedicating herself to Sheldon and his siblings. However, the timeline of Meemaw's romances hinted at who she'd settle down with by the time Young Sheldon concluded.

Layoffs are underway at Disney Entertainment Television on Wednesday. Roughly 140 people are affected, representing about 2% of the total Det workforce.
National Geographic is the hardest-hit brand with about 60 layoffs, or some 13% of its staff. Other significantly impacted divisions include the ABC Owned Television Stations, Freeform, the operational side of the Disney linear entertainment networks, Unscripted, Marketing and Publicity. No teams are being eliminated.
Not surprisingly, Disney’s linear networks are taking the brunt of the staffing cuts, particularly those that do not provide the company’s streaming platforms with highly popular originals such as FX’s Shōgun or ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy that drive viewership and subscriptions.
The layoffs had been planned for months as part of a streamlining strategy at Det, with department heads given targets to hit after a division-wide review. Almost half of the eliminated positions are in Burbank, where the Disney Studios is located, and the...

Dios mio! Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are scuttling toward expanding the reach of Blue Beetle with a new animated series. Miguel Puga has been working on the Blue Beetle animated series since early 2024 and will act as the project’s showrunner and director, with Cristian Martinez writing the scripts.
Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the top talent behind DC’s 2023 film, return for the Blue Beetle animated series as executive producers alongside John Richard. Galen Vaisman, who helped executive produce the movie, oversees the animated adaptation. Casting for the project remains a mystery, though Deadline says DC is in contact with multiple stars from the live-action film. Although deals still need to be implemented, their response was positive.
The Blue Beetle animated series continues the story started in Soto’s live-action film. If audiences connect with the animated series, DC could continue the story in a new live-action sequel.

Now 24 years old, the former child actor is known for a variety of onscreen roles beginning with a supporting part in the 2007 children's book adaptation Bridge to Terabithia. Some of her most notable titles include the comedy movies Just Go with It and Parental Guidance, the Christian summer camp musical A Week Away, and the television shows Wizards of Waverly Place (in which she played a gender-swapped version of major character Max Russo), The Fosters, and Good Witch.

The live-action Masters of the Universe movie will be released in theaters on June 5, 2026. Previous live-action attempts have struggled, but the success of recent animated shows has renewed interest. With the right script and casting, the reboot could capture the magic of the animated series and be a success.
The long-awaited live-action adaption and remake of Masters of the Universe has received a release date. The hit Mattel franchise first began in 1982 as a toyline and made the jump to animation in 1983 in a series that follows the ongoing battle between He-Man, the alias of Prince Adam, and the evil Skeletor, on the planet of Eternia. The franchise quickly evolved across different mediums, and to date, it has spawned six animated TV shows, multiple comic series, several video games, numerous toy lines, and two feature films.

Since The CW revamped its schedule, the football drama All American remains one of the last originals.
Since its spinoff, All American: Homecoming, was also renewed and is scheduled to air sometime in the summer of 2024, it’s not overall surprising they want to capitalize on both.
It’s not uncommon for a TV to expand its universe into spinoffs. Most often, procedural-type franchises such as CSI, Law & Order, and the One Chicago Universe have done it.
However, we’ve seen teen shows do it successfully, including The Vampire Diaries universe on The CW and The Fosters transitioning into Good Trouble on Freeform.
All American and All American: Homecoming are succeeding the way they are. Do we need additional spinoffs?
What is All American About?
All American was inspired by the life of professional football player Spencer Paysinger. Daniel Ezra portrays the fictional lead role of Spencer James.

Good Trouble season 6 remains uncertain, but creator Joanna Johnson has teased a potential storyline centered around the upcoming election. Fans and cast members were left disappointed by the sudden cancellation of the show, despite hopes for a continuation. The team behind Good Trouble worked to ensure a proper farewell, utilizing unused scenes and additional filming for a heartfelt finale.
Good Trouble, a spinoff series of The Fosters, ran for five seasons, but Good Trouble season 6 seems unlikely. Set in Los Angeles, the show follows the lives of Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana Adams Foster (Cierra Ramirez), as they navigate their early twenties while dealing with the challenges of work, relationships, and social justice issues. The show's mixture of drama and topical themes has not only entertained but also sparked important conversations among its viewers. However, despite its success and loyal fanbase, fans received disappointing news last year regarding the show's future.

Teri Polo has booked a mystery role over on CBS’ FBI: International — though we have a fun theory on who she could be playing.
Polo of course has starred on TV’s The Fosters and its offshoot Good Trouble, as well as Fox’s one-and-done The Big Leap. And as far as broadcast-tv procedurals go, she had a mini arc on CBS’ own NCIS that spanned the Season 19 finale and Season 20 premiere, playing Special Agent Alden Parker’s ex-wife, Vivan.

Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Station 19” Season 7 premiere.
The seventh and final season premiere of “Station 19” revealed the fate of beloved firefighter Jack Gibson after he collapsed during the tragic accident at the firefighter’s ball in the previous finale. After performing emergency surgery and saving his life, Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) broke the news to newly-promoted captain Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) that her friend and colleague sustained a life-altering brain injury that will bench him from field work permanently.
The episode, titled “This Woman’s Work,” ended with Jack waking up after surgery and congratulating Andy on her promotion — and asking when he would be back on duty.
New “Station 19” showrunners Peter Paige and Zoanne Clack — taking over after Krista Vernoff’s exit last season — teased that the twist doesn’t mean Jack (Grey Damon) will exit the series, but his journey...

It's the end of an era.
With Good Trouble Season 5 Episode 20, we saw a significant chapter close for this refreshing, conscientious, and inspiring series.
Sadly, not only did the series finale mark the end of Good Trouble, but it also meant the last chapter of The Fosters franchise closed.
The series' end leaves a massive void in the television landscape for similar series that combined a found family element with a timely exploration of social issues while bending genres.
We've lost something special, and that's a sentiment we unpack in our Good Trouble Series Finale Review.
But TV Fanatic had the pleasure of speaking with co-creator, showrunner, and EP Joanna Johnson.
She chatted about ending a decade-long journey, the unexpected cancellation, and the impact Good Trouble leaves behind.

To borrow from Davia, it's the end of an era.
With a heavy heart and the taste of bittersweetness, with Good Trouble Season 5 Episode 20, we not only said goodbye to the series but also marked the end of a franchise.
As a result, this unplanned finale had double the impact, as characters we've experienced for an entire decade signed off, presumably for the last time.
It's never easy to say goodbye to a series that has made it this far. In an industry where we frequently see series get the boot before it can even get into telling its stories, Good Trouble making it five seasons is a remarkable feat.
And even the diehard, most dedicated fans of this series often agree that the series was due to get wrapped up sooner rather than later.
However, it doesn't make this loss any less impactful, nor the fact that we essentially...

‘Good Trouble’ Co-Creator Breaks Down the Series’ Emotional Farewell
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from “What Now?,” the series finale of “Good Trouble,” now streaming on Hulu.
“Good Trouble,” which aired its series finale on Freeform Tuesday, has been a flagship show for the channel’s Gen-z and liberal-leaning audience since it premiered in 2018. The drama was a spinoff from “The Fosters,” a groundbreaking, foundational show for ABC Family, Freeform’s previous name before it rebranded with a heavier focus on programming for politically active 20somethings. “Good Trouble” centered on “The Fosters” characters Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) as they moved into a communal loft space called The Coterie in downtown Los Angeles, and began their post-grad adult lives.
Yes, the show revolved around Callie and Mariana’s personal and fledgling professional lives, but it also tackled real-life issues that affected them and their housemates. In the first season,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the series finale of Freeform’s Good Trouble.
Good Trouble has officially taken its final bow.
The Freeform series ended Tuesday night after five seasons, concluding more than a decade of television telling the stories of the Adams-Foster family and those closest to them. In some ways, Good Trouble ended exactly how it began — with Callie and Mariana.
Maia Mitchell rejoined Cierra Ramirez one last time for the finale, in which the residents of The Coterie find out the building is being sold and they’ll all need to move out. As they gather for a final Coterie dinner and rooftop hang, everyone reminisces on all they’ve gone through together. Callie and Mariana certainly have more than their fair share of trials, tribulations, and celebrations to reflect on.
“They’ve been working together for over 10 years, since they were 17 and 19,” showrunner and...

In honor of his new movie, “A Good Enough Day,” which is available now to rent or buy on Prime Video or Apple TV+, “The Young and the Restless” star Trevor St. John (Tucker McCall) will appear on the Thursday, February 29 episode of Alan Locher’s “The Locher Room.”
“A Good Enough Day” sees St. John playing a workaholic photographer named Tyler Hamilton, who discovers he’s terminally ill. To prepare himself for death, Tyler decides to heal old wounds and reach out to those he’s neglected, all the while attempting to overcome guilt and heartache in hopes of redeeming a decade of mistakes. When the nostalgia kicks in, that's when it hits the hardest that this series will be signing off permanently.
With an hour like Good Trouble Season 5 Episode 18, it gathers many beloved characters together for a happy event with classic Coterie feelings and delivers on some of The Fosters' nostalgia.
Not only did we have a happy, content, and beautifully in love Callie to contend with and elicit all the "feels," but Stef, Lena, Jude, and Brandon's presence pulled at a girl's heartstrings.
Gosh, dammit, I really miss The Fosters!
I miss The Fosters and mourn the loss of family dramas of the same caliber that excelled at compelling storytelling and tapping into all the emotions that the human experience entails.
They don't make family dramas like that anymore. I certainly don't see too many of them on a roster anywhere.
Family dramas and even series with a strong family drama...

After more than a decade, Cierra Ramirez is getting ready to say goodbye to Mariana Adams Foster.
The role not only helped launch her acting career when The Fosters debuted in 2013, but also opened the door for opportunities behind the camera. Ramirez has served as an executive producer on the spinoff series Good Trouble since it launched.
It only makes sense that, before the series wraps, Ramirez would don yet another cap on set: director. Ramirez makes her directorial debut with Tuesday’s episode, titled “Party of One” — an opportunity she told Deadline she’s been chomping at the bit for.
“I’ve always been super enamored by what happens behind the scenes or behind the camera, just as much as I am passionate about being in front of the camera,” she said.
She spoke with Deadline in the interview below about stepping into the directors chair for Season 5, as...
