Ole Christoffer Ertvaag, who plays the lead character Christian, was the first person who ever got attached to the project after director Johan Kaos got the rights for the adaptation. They met at Rogaland Theatre in Stavanger, where they both worked as actors in their youth.
The director Johan Kaos was 20 years old when he started working on this project in 2007. After he produced the Norwegian feature film The Bambi Effect he continued focusing on Pornopung in 2011. With the Bambi Effect he became the youngest Norwegian producer ever to release a film to the cinemas with the age 24.
