Connor is the first protagonist in the series whose name is not tied to the eagle; instead, his name is tied to the wolf.
Although titled Assassin's Creed 3, this is actually the 5th game released on consoles, and 7th game released overall in the franchise.
In the game's additional content, Ratohnhaké:ton (Connor) lives out a dream sequence that shows George Washington establishing a tyrannical Monarchy in America, as he becomes corrupted by one of the pieces of Eden. In Assassin's Creed II (2009), one of "The Truth" puzzles that are found and solved shows many of History's leaders possessing the apple; Washington being one of those leaders.
In the first game, Al-Mualim was the head of the Assassin order; mentor to the main character and known as "The Old man of the mountain." Achilles Davenport and his home are oddly enough situated in the same way.
