Drive Back begins with a young Reid (Zoltan Torok) sitting in the woods sketching when a shot rings out and a deer falls near him. That’s followed by the appearance of his father, who forces the traumatized boy to take a knife and motions towards the dying animal.
Years later, Reid is engaged to Olivia and they’re about to become parents. Making their way home after an engagement party at his parents’ cabin out in the woods, Olivia suggests taking a shortcut to get back home.
Disoriented after nearly being hit by a spending truck, they stop for directions at The I Forgot Store, a mom-and-pop convenience store where Mom is nuts and Pop (Alan Dorfmeier) appears to be dead. That still doesn...

Josh Duggar is currently behind bars serving his 12.5 year sentence, but that doesn’t mean he can’t do any damage. In fact, the Duggar Family is reportedly walking on eggshells with the inmate and scared he will expose all of their secrets. What is Josh holding over the Duggars’ heads? Keep reading to find out!
Jim Bob And Michelle Duggar In Panic Mode
Despite Josh Duggar’s child pornography convictions, Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar have supported their son through his trials and prison sentence.
The media and critics believed that the Duggar’s dedication to Josh was a result of their religious beliefs, but there might be more to it.
Apparently, Josh is getting restless behind bars and threatening to write a tell-all book about his family and how he was raised. Yikes.
Over the years the Duggars’ radical religion and strict parenting have come under fire multiple times.

The theme of Code Orange’s new video for “Underneath” — the pummeling yet catchy title track off their upcoming LP — is total confusion.
Singer-guitarist Reba Meyers sings in a padded room. Keyboardist Eric “Shade” Balderose looks like a mad scientist. Bassist Joe Goldman is chained to a wall. The backdrop? Walls made of aluminum foil, cellophane-covered synchronized dancers and a burnt man crawling through tar.
This all unfolds as Meyers sings about how facing obstacles head on is the only way to overcome them and drummer-vocalist Jami Morgan screams about judging a generation.

Sherlock series 4, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, will be themed around "consequences" says Steven Moffat...
This is a round-up of news relating to Sherlock's fourth series. (We say news. We're being a tad optimistic there.)
To read about on the one-off Victorian-set Sherlock special, due to air at an as-yet-undisclosed-date-but-probably-Christmas this year, please see here.
Latest news
This Entertainment Weekly interview with Steven Moffat provided a few characteristic teases from the Sherlock showrunner, including the promise that series four would contain answers "to questions which nobody has asked" (Sherlock's Gcse results? Mycroft's shoe size? We're just spitballing here). Moffat continued, "we're very exultant about a little thing we've set up that no one is talking about". Fingers at the ready, people, and let the chin-stroking commence...

Jeremy Lovering is in negotiations to direct the horror tale "The Bringing" for Sony Pictures, a project that Nicolas Winding Refn ("Drive," "Only God Forgives") was previously circling.
The story is based on the macabre history of L.A.'s Cecil Hotel. The latest incident involves Elisa Lam, a woman who was found dead in a water tank on the hotel's roof.
Security footage captures her behaving strangely in a hotel elevator, and the story follows a man investigating her death.
Brandon and Phillip Murphy penned the script while Matt Tolmach and Daniela Cristina Cretu are set to produce.
Lovering previously helmed the "Sherlock" third season premiere, and the acclaimed Irish psychological thriller "In Fear" starring Iain De Caestecker and Allen Leech.

Horror pic The Bringing came to our attention when Drive auteur Nicolas Winding Refn entered talks to helm the project, which was rumored to have been inspired by the bizarre death of a woman at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, what appeared to be a highly promising chiller took a major hit when Refn departed after negotiations reportedly stalled. Now, the studio is pushing ahead with The Bringing, as Deadline reports that Jeremy Lovering is in talks to direct.
Though certainly a less familiar name than Refn, Lovering cut his teeth on the very well-received psychological horror thriller In Fear. He also helmed the first episode of Sherlock‘s third season, titled “The Empty Hearse.” Though In Fear is still on my list of films to see, “The Empty Hearse” was a terrific and fast-paced installment of the BBC series. This month, at a post-screening Q&A I attended for The Guest, moderator Nicholas Winding Refn told the crowd that he was not doing The Bringing, Sony's supernatural thriller inspired by the Elisa Lam case here in Los Angeles. That left the director's seat wind open, well, for anyone.
Deadline says Jeremy Lovering is in discussions to helm the film which was penned by Brandon and Phillip Murphy.
Lovering helmed the UK thriller In Fear which was released Stateside earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn was said to be in talks to helm The Bringing for Sony Pictures, but he would leave the project shortly after. However, the studio has now lined up another filmmaker in the form of Jeremy Lovering. He’s best known for 2013 horror movie In Fear.
Scripted by Brandon and Phillip Murphy, The Bringing is based on actual events. It focuses on Elisa Lam, a woman who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the infamous Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles.
A viral video of the woman acting very strangely in an elevator moments before her death led to a lot of online speculation that there was a supernatural element to what happened to her, especially as she had no history of mental illness and no drugs or alcohol were found in her system when an autopsy was performed.

Last we heard (back in May), Nicolas Winding Refn was hovering around La's Cecil Hotel with the idea to directing The Bringing. Circumstances have changed since then, however, and the latest director in the frame for the true-events-inspired chiller is In Fear's Jeremy Lovering. The film is based on the strange case of 21 year-old Canadian student Elisa Lam, who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil, a month after her disappearance in January last year. The coroner's verdict was accidental drowning, but a video of her odd behaviour in one of the hotel's elevators hours before her death later went viral, and led worldwide conspiracy theorists and hauntologists to believe they know better.Adding to the spook factor is the notion that serial killers Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger were both reportedly residents at the hotel at one point or another. The Main Street...

The Cecil Hotel has a macabre history that includes serial killers, suicides, and murder, but perhaps its most disturbing event happened last year, when a woman was recorded acting strangely in an elevator before being found drowned in a sealed water tank on the hotel’s roof two weeks later. The Bringing is an upcoming film inspired by the bizarre death and now Sony’s chosen a director for the project.
Deadline reports that Sony Pictures is in talks with Jeremy Lovering to direct The Bringing. The film’s script was written by brothers Brandon Murphy and Phillip Murphy after the woman’s bizarre drowning occurred last year. A video of the woman talking either to herself or an unseen entity went viral, adding a seriously spooky layer to the already mysterious circumstances surrounding her drowning. The event gave the brothers the idea to write a movie in which a...

The Bringing has had a lot of talent almost involved, and for anyone acquainted with the story, it's not hard to understand why. It's absolutely terrifying. Today brings word that Jeremy Lovering (In Fear) could direct the horror story for Sony Pictures.
Deadline reports that Lovering is in negotiations to direct The Bringing from a script written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy.
The film is inspired by the Elisa Lam story, a young woman who was found dead in a water tank on the roof of the Hotel Cecil. The script has nothing really to do with that tragedy, but it created a germ of an idea focusing on a man investigating a death at the hotel and the nightmare he stumbles into.
As previously reported, Nic Refn was once slated to direct:
Well this is a bummer, hearing Nic Refn will not direct The Bringing at Sony as negotiations have stalled.

Exclusive: Sony Pictures is negotiating with Jeremy Lovering to direct The Bringing, the horror script by Brandon and Phillip Murphy based on actual events. Matt Tolmach and Daniela Cretu are producing. This has been top priority at Sony, and at one time had Nicolas Winding Refn circling. The pic is based on Elisa Lam, who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. That’s the place that killers like Richard Ramirez called home at one time or another, and where suicides have occurred. Footage of Lam’s bizarre, inexplicable behavior in an elevator before her death became a massive Internet sensation, and this has been turned into the story of the man investigating her death, and the nightmare he stumbles into. Cretu’s First Born Films developed the script that was brought in by Mtp’s Kate Checchi and Brad Zimmerman.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing is to open this year's London Film Festival
The Imitation Game is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

Update: Two very different trailers, one for the U.K. and one for the U.S., have been released, and I’ve included both below.
One of the films I’m most excited to see this fall is The Imitation Game, a dramatic thriller starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, a British cryptographer who helped crack Nazi codes during World War II but was later prosecuted for homosexuality, then a crime. The subject matter is obviously fascinating, and Cumberbatch is a highly talented actor, so all signs indicate that The Imitation Game may arrive as one of the year’s best films. Now, a teaser trailer has been revealed by Studiocanal, giving us our first real look at the tense historical thriller.
As the trailer shows, Turing’s main challenge is deciphering the German Enigma code, considered by many to be unbreakable. To this end, he enlists the help of...

In Fear is not your typical horror film. There are no (visible) monsters; no gore; and not a lot of action. The film follows a pair of teens on the way to a weekend at a music festival. They get really, really lost trying to get to the hotel, and the longer they are driving around in circles, the more their relationship devolves. We spoke with writer/director Jeremy Lovering about the haunted legend that inspired the tale, and how he went about finding his fantastic leading actors.
Where did the idea for In Fear come from?
Funny enough, I love the woods. I find them a very reassuring and comforting place. When I was a kid I would go and stay overnight in the forest. I found it very comforting. I went to Ireland one time and read about this family who were Anglo-Irish, they lived on a massive...

Following on from our interview with In Fear’s director Jeremy Lovering, HeyUGuys were privileged to have the opportunity to speak with the films leading man Iain De Caestecker. From reminiscing about shooting short films with his brother, the conversation quickly spiralled into a discussion of confronting the unconventional, acting on instinct, creating a study in fear and collaborating with an audience and watching himself In Fear.
Why a career in acting? Was there that one inspirational moment?
I don’t know if there was one specific moment, but I suppose it was when I was younger. My brother and I would watch movies and then make our own short films. They were pretty bad in hindsight but they were the kind of moments when we would watch them back and feel proud and excited. Those are the moments that made me want to act.
With no script In Fear goes against convention.

Full disclosure: a theatrical screening of this film was provided by Sinister Cinema. Director/writer: Jeremy Lovering. Cast: Iain De Caestecker, Alice Englert and Allen Leech. Jeremy Lovering's first feature film, In Fear, played in twenty-eight Canadian cities March 13th, 2014. Sinister Cinema hosted this one night engagement. This horror fan managed to see the screening and the trip was well worth it. In Fear is an indie horror and thriller title, which was filmed in the United Kingdom. Full of tense situations and surprises, In Fear is one of the best indie features this film fan has seen. The story is simple in nature. A new, young couple are heading out to a music festival together, but Tom (Iain De Caestecker) wants to take a detour, to an isolated Irish hotel. Lucy (Alice Englert) plays along. And soon, this couple is driving off into the remote Irish meadows.

You know those movies where people are driving around, lost in the woods or on some back road? You know the ones. No matter what they do, they just can’t seem to find their way to the highway. Generally, they end in the suggestion that they have been dead the entire time, died in a car accident or something, and the entire film was their purgatory. In Fear masquerades as one of these films, but it’s not. All of the familiar elements are there. I even turned to my wife while watching, and told her I already knew how the film would end. I guess I should be happy that they didn’t take the predictable approach, and instead surprised me, right? Well, I would probably be grateful if there were any sort of ending to the film. It’s not that I felt the goings on needed...

Ahead of the home entertainment release of In Fear, HeyUGuys had the opportunity to speak with the film’s director Jeremy Lovering. From stepping out onto the metaphorical dance floor to discuss film as a dance, Jeremy shared his thoughts with us on film as a pay check, In Fear’s filmic influences, the evolution of genre, and how science can explain one’s affection or lack of affection for horror.
Film is a dance between the writer, the director, the participants, and of course the audience. The goal of course is to create something that you are going to put out there into the world and which is going to be independent of you. It needs to create its own identity, but as you have spoken about in previous interviews you need to make it to be a good watch, but you need to give it an identity and personality.

★★★★☆Over the years, four-wheeled vehicles have proved themselves as worthy settings for tense thrillers, Spielberg's Duel (1971) and Tarantino's Death Proof (2007) being two of the most successful examples. With In Fear (2013), Sherlock scribe Jeremy Lovering takes on the premise of a home invasion, confines the action into a car and documents events in real-time. As a result, it's a darkly atmospheric journey to a destination that's satisfyingly difficult to approximate. After a mysterious altercation with some locals in a country pub, young couple Tom (Iain De Caestecker) and Lucy (Beautiful Creatures' Alice Englert) set off to spend the weekend at a music festival.

Perhaps the only news of note this week is that in a move echoing what they did with Breaking Bad, Netflix has swooped in and gained rights to the TV series of From Dusk Til Dawn made in the states for Robert Rodriguez’s new El Rey network cable channel. Netflix will stream the episodes the day after they air in the states every week, curiously they are still billing this as ‘A Netflix Original’ when this isn’t the case necessarily. I have no idea as to the quality of this, the film From Dusk Til Dawn was one of my favourites when I was a teenager but how you drag that out into a ten part TV show I don’t know, let alone a possible second series. I watched the trailer and it looks solid and well-made as opposed to a cheap cash in and features Don Johnson...

Sneak Peek writer, director Jeremy Lovering's Sundance Film Festival horror thriller "In Fear", available on Blu-ray, VOD and DVD from Anchor Bay Films, March 11, 2014, starring Iain De Caestecker and Alice Englert:
"...'In Fear' is a tense psychological horror about a young couple's fight to make it through the night. Home invasion but in a car. In real-time. 'Tom' and 'Lucy' are trapped in a maze of country roads with only their vehicle for protection, terrorized by an unseen tormentor hell-bent on exploiting their worst fears. Driving, lost and tormented in the night, primal fears of the dark and the unknown give way to fear that you have let the evil in, or that it is already there..."

The Butler didn't do it for Oscar voters, but there are sharper ideas in some of last year's under-the-radar thrillers
If a film seemingly made for the express purpose of piling up Oscar nominations then receives precisely none, does it make a sound? Well, yes and no. Lee Daniels' The Butler (Entertainment, 12) was a surprise summer hit in the Us, where audiences weary of monsters fighting robots were apparently up for a windy dose of all-star, semi-fictionalised civil rights history, but that doesn't mean it has anything to say.
Awards voters, oddly, couldn't see the hokey Forrest Gump parallels in Forest Whitaker's Cecil Gaines, humble White House butler to every president from Eisenhower to Reagan. A noble cypher who stoically pours tea while history is made around him, he's a less-than-riveting presence around whom to centre the narrative; there's more going on back home, where his radical Black Panther...

The eagerly anticipated film In Fear (review here) will be released in select theaters this Friday, March 7, with its Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release on March 11. Recently director Jeremy Lovering spoke with Dread Central about working on his feature film debut.
For starters, Lovering gave potential viewers an idea of what they can expect when they sit down to watch In Fear. "There is a lot of suspense, unknown threats from the dark, a lot of driving around getting lost, some tears, a few smiles, an act of betrayal, an act of violence, a tiny slice of hope, home invasion in a car and a messed up logic that results in murder-by-proxy."
That's a lot to be squeezed into one film, but Lovering does a very nice job of fitting it all in. He continued, "I wanted to make a film that was genuinely and thrillingly scary as you watch it...

Iain De Caestecker has hailed Ryan Gosling as "a big inspiration" after working with the Drive star on his directorial debut How to Catch a Monster.
The In Fear and Agents of Shield star told Digital Spy that the actor-turned-filmmaker encouraged him and the rest of the cast to improvise.
"Ryan is someone who was a big inspiration to me before I knew him and this has only increased it," he said. "To have the chance to work in a movie with him, he is just a really amazing person and he wrote a really amazing script but he was someone who would come in every day and wanted us to bring something to it, we would improvise and try something new and it was always a really exciting time I remember.

Stars: Alice Englert, Iain De Caestecker, Allen Leech | Written and Directed by Jeremy Lovering
When Tom (Iain De Caestecker) and Lucy (Alice Englert) decide to stay at a secluded hotel to celebrate their two week anniversary they find themselves on secluded country roads with only signs placed randomly around the route to take them to their destination. As the journey drags on though and they seem to be going in circles they soon work out that somebody is playing games with them and they are lost in a labyrinth of lonely roadways.
After watching In Fear you can get a feeling that there was very little plot to In Fear and in many ways this is exactly the point. Written almost on a daily basis the documentary behind the film shows that the writers were providing the actors with information and scripts on a daily basis. The aim of this...

Iain De Caestecker is on the rise. He’s currently starring in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on TV, and in the fast year we’ve seen him on the big screen in In Fear and Filth, and we’ll be seeing him again soon in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut How to Catch a Monster.
