These later episodes of Season 2 have been better than some of the others - more about telling a good and less about making a social statement. This one is really original and there are some fun moments with real-life people tie-ins. I hope we see Ruth Penny again, as I missed her in this edition especially. Mrs Clam and Tom are well utilised - not too much screen time that we squeeze out the lead, but enough to develop the plot and humour levels. Robert Daws, playing his usual type of buffoon character, works better than I expected - it's quite nostalgic, albeit not the sixties, but his stint on The Royal still makes him feel a good fit for the era. Whilst we already knew about the upcoming Christmas special, it was joyful to see Sister B share such glad tidings of comfort and joy in her announcement during the end credits on UKTV Drama.
