

Last month, we reported that production had wrapped on Star Wars: Episode VIII, and just yesterday, a new report revealed that the first cut would be completed soon. Legendary composer John Williams confirmed that he begins work on the score very shortly, and now we have word that the editing process has officially begun on the rough cut. Director Rian Johnson shared a photo from the editing bay, hopefully the first of many to come.
Yesterday, Rian Johnson sent out a new image on Instagram, which shows the director sitting in front of a monitor with the Picture Start title card on display. All the director would say about this image is that yesterday marked "Day One" of the editing process. Since the movie doesn't hit theaters until December 15, 2017, it isn't clear when we may get to see the first footage.
