Stormy Daniels does not appear on screen, even in a cameo, in "The Honeymoon", but her presence as writer-director for Wicked Pictures is evident in the Old School approach to Hollywood genre filmmaking, in this case the rom-com.
Alektra Drake is introduced disheveled, particularly her hairdo, as a would-be bride whose fiance Dane Cross was a no-show for the wedding. With non-refundable presents and airplane ticket to Cancun (for an all-inclusive resort honeymoon trip) in hand, she's advised by gal pal Kaylani Lei to go on the trip by herself anyway.
That's virtually the entire set-up in Stormy's script, leading to romantic hijinks at the Cupid's resort, filmed in California doubling for Mexico. Stormy doesn't have any indicators we're actually in Cancun, with even the resort staff having zero Latinos, just the usual Chatsworth players like Zoe Britton as a greeter and hostess and Rocco Reed as hotel bellboy.
Alektra does a very fine job developing empathy for her central character, as well as delivering her usual high-octane sex prowess. Britton gets a three-way lesbian outdoor sex scene with Aiden Ashley and Carmen Valentina.
Stormy's chief indulgence is her building up way beyond the limit a comic relief effeminate character played by her husband Brendon Miller, with the in-joke that he's a "Rock God", insinuating the day job Miller as has in real-life as drummer Glendon Crain(beyond tending to the Stormy fortune and recently filing for divorce from her). Oddest distraction is that Brendon and runaway groom Dane both wear identical African-inspired earrings, which I found myself staring at (to see if the hole in the middle of each earring was like something in a Tarzan movie) when I should have been thinking about female private parts.
