Liam Neeson may not have started out as an action star, but he is certainly considered one now. Though Neeson's '90s and early 2000s career did have a handful of action movies, including Rob Roy (1995), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), and Batman Begins (2005), he was just as well known for non-action roles in projects like Schindler's List (1993) and Love Actually (2003). Neeson's career shifted, however, after the release of Taken in 2009.

Taken spawned two less successful sequels, but it also set Neeson down a unique action path. Neeson became the starring figure in a number of mid-budget action movies, with the films usually built around his casting. Notable entries in Neeson's action career include movies like Unknown (2011), The Grey (2011), Non-Stop (2014), A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014), Cold Pursuit (2019), The Ice Road (2021), and In the Land of Saints and Sinners (2023). After a quiet few years, Keira Knightley returns as a lead in Netflix’s spy drama Black Doves, which launches on Dec. 5. In the show, Knightley plays Helen Webb, a dedicated wife and mother and professional spy. Having passed her politician husband’s secrets to the Black Doves, a shadowy group, Webb’s covert identity is endangered when a lover (Andrew Koji), is murdered and she looks to avenge his death.

Henry Cavill has joined the expansive list of stars for the live-action version of Voltron adapted by Amazon's MGM Studios, but a crucial detail around the production is yet to be confirmed. The movie will offer a refreshing take on the long-standing Japanese animated series under the same title, and will be directed by Rawson Marshall. Marshall's previous work for Warner Bros. Newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye, who previously appeared in Badults and served as Tom Holland’s understudy in Romeo & Juliet on the West End this spring, is also on board.

The project is being helmed by Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber, and is based on the Japanese sci-fi show Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger Xv. World Events would later edit and dub the series as a syndicated show, naming it Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which ran in the mid '80s.

The strike-shortened 2023 production slate has left moviegoers with a lighter summer movie calendar than many have come to expect in recent years, but TBS is hoping that fans will take the opportunity to spend more time watching old movies at home. The cable network announced that married couple Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen have been tapped to host a revival of “Dinner and a Movie,” the cooking show that features recipes that can be paired with films.

“Dinner and a Movie” originally aired on TBS from 1995-2011 and was famously hosted by chef Claud Mann and comedian Paul Gilmartin. The revival will air on Saturday nights at 8pm Et beginning on June 1. Each episode will feature a movie (“Aquaman” will be the inaugural selection) alongside cooking segments, games, and surprise guests.

Future episodes of the show will feature the films “We’re the Millers,” “The Greatest Showman,” and “Avengers: Endgame.”
