The series has a noticeably more static animation than the previous shows. This was due to the production company Shaft having to work on two other shows at the time, Bakemonogatari (2009) and Dansu in za vanpaia bando (2010).
In the third and fourth episodes, Nozomu is replaced with a body double so that nobody will miss him. This is Enishi Itoshiki, Nozomu's brother and Majiru's father; the black sheep of his family, this is his only appearance throughout the Zetsubo Sensei animes.
