On the eve of school examinations, Nozomu is kidnapped for being potential bad luck to his students, and the girls head off to rescue him. Meanwhile, spring arrives and Nami goes on a quest to find herself.

Nozomu starts observing a time lag, or a delay between cause and effect, everywhere he goes. Later on, Nami's quest continues and everyone joins her.

Nozomu and Kafuka attempt to find the switch to the town Christmas lights. Later goes to a Guardian's Club, where people take excessive care measures.

Nozomu ponders celebrating Marine Day for prefectures not at the Japanese Coast. Later, he finds that his trip to the Guardian's Club has deprived him of his savings.

Nozomu must deal with over-poetic writing, Chiri is enlisted into an exclusive club and Kafka finds a family that overlooks things in excess.

Nozomu recommends that Majiru get measles so that he doesn't get them later - along with other things. Meanwhile, Chiri decides to label everything around her.

Nozomu gets swindled, meets a winter god who wants a new job, and has a birthday party thrown for him (on the wrong date).

Nozomu shows how, in a suspicious society, there is more reversed surprise than actual surprise. He later gets on a train with no destination.

Nozomu and Chiri discuss the importance of emergency measures. Later, the class finds out Nami's birthday, but as nobody knew about it everyone makes her a sudden emergency present.

Nozomu wonders which came first, the Easter egg or the chicken, and hope or despair?

Nozomu gets new glasses, but these make him prejudiced and racist. Later, Nami lifts her skirt to get attention and causes a furor.

A missile drops on the school's field and the class tries despairingly to hide it. An interviewer is, in fact, going to come to the school.

Kiri loses her blanket, as it falls into the hands of a government servant who wants to mass-produce it. Meanwhile, the class discuss buzzword generals and are disturbed by one.
