Throughout this series, Kang Sae-byeok hasn't been a charismatic character. In fact, she's the type of character that I'm usually completely indifferent to. However, we've learned so much about her, and we've shared so many moments with her, that it's impossible not to feel some empathy or compassion for her. After all, her life has been incredibly difficult, and her goals are quite noble.
In the previous episode, she even showed her kinder side by helping Seong Gi-hun, which makes the possibility of the two teaming up in this episode more appealing-especially because Cho Sang-woo has repeatedly proven to be a vile and despicable person.
I bring this up because it shows how well the series developed its characters, making the protagonist a complex individual-not necessarily a saint. The same goes for the final villain, who didn't always come across as such but consistently showed ulterior motives or, at the very least, different priorities. This is where the plot really thickens.
That said, I must admit I'm still not interested in the police officer's storyline. However, I did find it hopeful to have someone who could potentially expose everything happening on the island.
By the way, I don't know why, but the big reveal didn't surprise me much. In fact, I didn't even care. Perhaps it's because there was never an emotional foundation established for that storyline, and the actor didn't convey those emotions either. Honestly, I have many questions about how it all even happened in the first place.
