Corey Haim
Corey Haim Remembered In Today's Twitter-Wood
Corey Haim
Corey Haim meant a lot things to the posters in Twitter-Wood, and his unexpected death this morning triggered an outpouring of rememberances. Ashton Kutcher called him a "childhood hero," Alyssa Milano said he was a "sweet boy," and numerous other noted their favorite Haim films, from "The Lost Boys" and "Lucas" to "License to Drive" and "Dream a Little Dream."

Whether they remembered him as a someone they watched before coming to Hollywood or as a fellow actor whose career spanned decades, Haim got a lot of love from the Twitter community today. "The Lost Boys" will outdo "Twilight" every time on my all-time favorite vampire films lists, and Haim will remain there along with it. Check out what everyone had to say after the jump, and feel free to share your own memories in the comments.

A synopsis for Mother's Day here:

After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home, hoping their Mother (Rebecca De Mornay) can provide them with a getaway. The youngest brother, Johnny (Matt O'Leary), has been shot and their back-stabbing former partner has gotten away with all the cash.

Continues...

Repo! or Repo Men? Which Came First? Bousman Speaks Out!
While doing some early publicity interviews for his work on the upcoming Mother's Day, director Darren Bousman has also been dealing with a little bit of a sticky situation.

There's been a lot of speculation amongst the fanbase regarding the similarities between Universal's upcoming film Repo Men and Bousman's own Repo! The Genetic Opera. Given that both films were in production at roughly the same time, people are wondering which came first.

Over on DarrenLynnBousman.com Bousman has addressed the situation once and for all. We recommend you head on over and check it out as it's a really interesting read. One that will hopefully put all the speculation and chatter quietly to bed.

Coincidence? Rip-off? Decide for yourself. Either way, we're sure both films will have their fans, but I think that Repo!'s fanbase will remain the most vocal and loving for many years to come. We'll see...

Start Celebrating 'Mother's Day'
Darren Lynn Bousman at an event for Abattoir (2016)
On his blog, director Darren Lynn Bousman just posted an update on his upcoming reimagining of the cult classic Mother's Day. In it, the filmmaker remarks that he's deep into editing, and that all the performances are so strong he's having a tough time cutting anything. He also posted a new pic from the film. Check out the full image after the jump. Bousman says he doesn't have a distributor for the film, as it's independently financed,  but that he doesn't have a problem with the wait and with it opening after the actual holiday, with which it shares its name but not much else. Frank Grillo
Welcome To 'The Gates'
Frank Grillo
Suburbia as a metaphor for hell... seems kind of obvious, doesn't it?  ABC seems to think so, as they are currently working on a series called The Gates, set for a summer premiere. According to THR, in it, a "big-city cop becomes chief of police in a sleepy planned community, only to discover there's much more to the residents than meets the eye."  Frank Grillo (Prison Break, the upcoming Mother's Day remake) will star as the new chief of police. Also in the cast: Luke Mably (28 Days Later), who will play a vampire-like cardiologist; Janina Gavankar (The L Word, Dollhouse) who will play a cop with a "dark secret";  and Chandra West (White Noise)  will play "the tea shop...

Jaime King in Kitchen Confidential (2005)
Grant Boucher will write and direct the romantic comedy feature "Journies" for Death Ray Films. Jaime King is attached to star.

"Journies" takes place in the world of online entertainment news, where an aspiring online journalist gets the scoop of a lifetime when a one-on-one interview turns into a date with Hollywood's hottest young ingenue. HBO is developing a series called "Tilda," which is also about an entertainment blogger.

Robert Sanchez, Kyle Newman and King are producing "Journies."

"It's 'Notting Hill' with a touch of 'Entourage' for the younger, hipper, Comic-Con crowd," said Death Ray partner Sanchez. "Grant's writing is amazing and his take on our story nailed it."

King, who is repped by Gersh and Raw Talent, has recently appeared in "Sin City," "The Spirit" and "My Bloody Valentine 3D." She will next star in the remake of the horror film "Mother's Day."

What Lurks in the Town of The Gates ?
Will two great television tastes taste great together? ABC is taking the cop show formula and infusing it with elements that make True Blood , The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural successes. ABC, NBC pilots expand casts
Jennifer Finnigan in Close to Home: Juste Cause (2005)
In the latest round of pilot castings, Jennifer Finnigan is set to star opposite Joanna Garcia in ABC's untitled Shana Goldberg-Meehan comedy, Patrick Flueger has landed a co-starring role on ABC's summer series "Scoundrels," and Rose Rollins has been cast in NBC's Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama pilot "Chase."

The untitled Goldberg-Meehan multicamera comedy, from Wbtv, revolves around sisters at different stages of their romantic relationships: one (Finnigan) is in a happy, long-term relationship but isn't married, the other (Garcia) gets pregnant and winds up marrying her boyfriend.

Finnigan, who co-starred last year in the ABC pilot "Inside the Box," is repped by Icm and manager John Carrabino.

A Trip to the 'Atm' Becomes a Nightmare
Sounding very similar to how Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day kicks off comes Atm, which centers on three co-workers who -- on a routine stop at an Atm -- unexpectedly end up in a desperate fight for their lives. The Safran Co. and Gold Circle Films picked up the spec script by Buried writer Chris Sparling. David Brooks, who gained fame with his short "Gone", will get behind the camera this fall. Paul Brooks ("A Haunting in Connecticut") will also produce. "Buried," starring Ryan Reynolds, was the first major sale at Sundance with Lionsgate snapping up domestic distribution rights for $3.2 million. Scott Neimeyer, Norm Waitt and Dan Clifton are exec producing "Atm." Safran is also producing actioner "Elephant White," starring Djimon Hounsou, and action-comedy "Flypaper," starring Patrick Dempsey. Paul Brooks is a producer on Warner Bros.' "Life as We Know It," starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel.

Jaime King Shows Off Her (Fake) Boobs In This Morning's Daily TwitPic
Jaime King
Warning: your Daily TwitPic this morning is a little bit racy. Presuming the sight of flesh-colored, rubber lumps is something you find potentially offensive, that is.

Jaime King started out as a model, but her acting career started to blossom in 2005 when she appeared among the ensemble in "Sin City," as twin badass prostitutes Goldie and Wendy. More recently she appeared in comic book adaptation "The Spirit" and geek-friendly comedy "Fanboys." She is said to be returning in "Sin City 2" and will next be seen in the remake of "Mother's Day," which has a connection with today's twitpic as it was posted in that movie's honor. Hit the jump to see for yourself.

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Eleven
One month, 280 films and 70,000 words later, my guide to the films of 2010 is now complete. I hope you've enjoyed reading it all - it's been utterly exhausting but an ultimately rewarding venture I've been single-handedly pulling together since early December. If you have liked it, my only request is that you help spread the word about it now that it's all done.

If you're a fellow blogger or site owner, please give it a plug on your site. If you're a reader, give it a mention on Facebook, Twitter or other online places you might venture. A lot of effort went into this, the greatest reward so far has been seeing it talked about and hearing your reactions. I'm glad many of you have gotten a lot of use out of the previous pages, so I hope you enjoy this final part:

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Nine
Shanghai

Opens: 2010

Cast: John Cusack, Gong Li, Ken Watanabe, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chow Yun-Fat

Director: Mikael Hafstrom

Summary: In the months leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, an American man arrives in Shanghai to find his friend recently murdered. In investigating his friend's death, he stumbles upon a secret the United States government has been keeping and falls in love in the process.

Analysis: After being granted permission to shoot in the Chinese city, the $10 million production found its permit quickly being revoked by the Government who expressed concerns about the script. The result is Bangkok and the United Kingdom standing in for the real Shanghai which seems kind of against the entire point.

Cusack himself has emphatically endorsed the project in interviews, calling it a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity", but being stuck at the cash-strapped Weinstein Company means that its release plans are unsure beyond a vague promise of a limited bow around Easter.

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Six
The Last Airbender

Opens: July 2nd 2010

Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel

Director: M. Night Shyamalan

Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.

Analysis: It has been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan, who started it as a household name with the label of a modern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".

Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit...

Dinner for Schmucks

Opens: July 23rd 2010

Cast: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Bruce Greenwood, David Walliams

Director: Jay Roach

Summary: A renowned publisher encourages his friends to invite the most pathetic guests possible for their weekly dinner party. Just as they find the most pathetic man yet, the host is injured and ends up trapped with the man all night long.

Analysis: A remake of director Francis Veber's 1998 César award-winning "Le Diner des cons", 'Schmucks' is one of the highest profile comedies of next year with one of the strongest casts for the genre in recent memory. It also marks the return of "Austin Powers" and "Meet the Parents" helmer Jay Roach who has produced several films in recent years but hasn't directed since 2004's "Meet the Fockers".

The question now lies not in the performers or director but the material itself and whether a Gallic comedy can...

New pics, trailer for The Tenant
The Tenant (2010)
Producer/Actor Randy Molnar just hit Fangoria with a batch of stills and the latest trailer for Ric La Monte's The Tenant. The film was recently completed in Florida, and the filmmakers promise that it "brings together a dramatic classic feel with its tale of horror at Edgewood Asylum, and transforms into a modern day masterpiece of mayhem, with outstanding special effects and surprising twists."

J. Larose (Saw III, Repo!, Mother's Day) toplines the film along with horror icon Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil's Rejects) and Bill Cobbs (Night At The Museum).

As the tormented Dr. Newman (Randy Molnar- Contract Killers, This Man’s Life, Larry the Cable Guy) conducts his dark experiments inside Edgewood Asylum, something goes horribly wrong. Twenty-eight years later, in the depths of the asylum, something evil still survives. The Tenant takes you on a terrifying ride of shocking images and a bloody conclusion.

Mother's Day video
Darren Bousman is up in Toronto filming the Mother's Day remake with Rebecca De Mornay, Jaime King, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega and Shawn Ashmore and has taken some time out of his busy day to file a video blog from the set. First Real Photo from Darren Bousman's Mother's Day Remake
Saw II & III director Darren Bousman's remake of Mother's Day has been rushed into production fairly quickly. It was only five months ago that we first learned it was even happening and now Bousman is already shooting this up in Canada. Darren just posted the first official photo from the remake on his Twitter today. It's not a behind-the-scenes shot but rather an actual photo showing Patrick Flueger (I think?) wrestling with what looks to be Jaime King. Either way it's a pretty dynamic first look at the movie, although it doesn't show much (in terms of story). Bousman also debuted a behind-the-scenes first look on IGN today as well. This remake, written by newcomer Scott Milam, will see the villainous family return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests. The story will reflect today's times and the rough economy. "She's...
