The upcoming DC Studios series “Lanterns” has cast Jason Ritter in a recurring role.

Ritter joins a cast that also includes Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen. Per the official logline, the show follows “new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

Ritter will play Billy Macon, described as “a good-looking charmer who does his father’s bidding. Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose.”

Ritter currently appears in the CBS drama “Matlock” opposite Kathy Bates, which has been renewed for a second season. He is also set to appear in the upcoming second season of “Poker Face” at Peacock. He is known for his roles in shows like “Joan of Arcadia,...

The cast of Lanterns continues to expand as The InSneider brings word today that Jason Ritter (Matlock) has joined the upcoming DC Studios series.

He'll reportedly play the husband of Kelly Macdonald's character; she's been cast as Sheriff Kerry, a character described as "a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface."

There had been rumblings about Kerry being a love interest for Hal Jordan, though this news may go some way in debunking that.

Ritter is best known for his Emmy-nominated role in Parenthood. He also counts Gravity Falls, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, and Frozen II among his film and television credits.

Dax Shepard is staying in shape!

The 50-year-old actor, best known for his work on Parenthood and for hosting the podcast Armchair Expert, was spotted on a bike ride on Monday (March 10) in Los Angeles.

Dax wore a tank top with matching gray spandex shorts, putting his fit body on display.

In a recent interview, Dax said that the was “among the lowest” paid actors on Parenthood because he never asked his co-stars what they were earning.

“I went into Parenthood going, ‘I’m purposely gonna not find out,’ and I was so happy on the show,” he said on the latest episode. “I know I was making among the lowest of all the actors.”

“That was the first time I ever broke that habit,” he added. “Boy, was it a blessing.”

Ray Romano has come a long way since he played Raymond Barone on his hit sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

Romano, who played a lawyer in Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman, told Vanity Fair he wrote a backstory for the character. Chernin Entertainment has two new television bosses.

The company, which is part of Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company, has promoted Tracey Cook and Kaitlin Dahill to lead its TV division.

The pair, who have both been with the company for years, will continue to report to Chernin Entertainment president Jenno Topping.

There have been plenty of rumors across town about the future of Chernin Entertainment’s television operation, particularly after former Showtime exec Amy Israel joined North Road Company last year as President of Television.

Cook and Dahill are responsible for several upcoming Chernin series including Netflix’s Man on Fire starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II and The Madness starring Colman Domingo. and Apple’s Chief of War, created by and starring Jason Momoa.

The announcement was made by Chernin Entertainment president Jenno Topping, to whom Cook and Dahill will continue to report.

The company, via Amazon MGM Studios, has handed a cast-contingent series order to drama It’s Not Like That from Wonder Project, the nascent indie studio launched by Jon Erwin and Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten last year.

It is the latest series order for the studio, which caters to faith audiences, after scoring a series order for House of David earlier this year.

Martha Plimpton and Mireille Enos have joined the cast of “Task,” an upcoming HBO drama series starring Mark Ruffalo.

Set in the working class suburbs outside of Philadelphia, “Task” follows Tom (Ruffalo), an FBI agent leading a task force meant to tend to a string of drug-house robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).

Plimpton plays Kathleen McGinty, the FBI supervisory senior resident in charge who recruits Tom to lead the task force just as she learns that she is being forced to retire, while Enos plays Tom’s wife, Susan Brandis. The pair married young, which is the reason Tom left the priesthood.

Things are getting personal on the set of CBS’ “Elsbeth.” The Eye network was set to announce Sunday that Emmy-winning actor Michael Emerson — the husband of “Elsbeth” star Carrie Preston — will join the show in a recurring role this season.

The news was scheduled to be revealed during the “Elsbeth” panel at New York Comic-Con, as moderated by series guest star Laura Benanti. As announced during the panel, Emerson will join in a recurring role starting with the show’s Dec. 12 episode.

The “Lost” and “Person of Interest” star will appear as Judge Milton Crawford, described as a “haughty, soft-spoken and bespectacled man from an old New England family of public servants who sees his place in the nation’s elite as a birthright.” He’ll serve as a foil to Elsbeth Tascioni, the character played by Preston.

The couple has appeared on camera before in projects including “Person of Interest.

The feature adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestseller “People We Meet on Vacation” has added a few more of those “people,” with Miles Heizer, Tommy Do, Alice Lee, Alan Ruck (“Succession”) and Molly Shannon joining the starry cast.

Tom Blyth and Emily Bader star in the Netflix and 3000 Pictures movie, which follows routine-loving Alex and free-spirited Poppy. The pair “have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together,” the official logline explains. “The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else — could they actually be the perfect romantic match?”

In addition to Blyth and Bader, the ensemble cast also boasts Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount and Lukas Gage. Further character details have yet to be announced.
