Hello, and welcome to the Scene 2 Seen Podcast!
I am Valerie Complex, an associate editor and film writer at Deadline. Today I’m chatting with Mayan Lopez, co-creator, writer, co-executive producer and star of the NBC comedy Lopez vs. Lopez. The series starring Mayan, George Lopez and Selenis Leyva returns for its second season April 2.
Mayan plays a fictional version of herself, a modern Gen Z daughter working to rebuild her dysfunctional relationship with her old-school Latino father. She conceptualized the series from her TikTok content, which she used as a creative outlet during the pandemic.
Lopez made her television debut in Season 6 of The George Lopez Show, later participating in the conservatory program at Second City and the Columbia College Comedy Writing and Performance Program in Chicago. Her credits have since included Handsome: A Netflix Murder Mystery, Other People, Jersey and Mr. Troop Mom.
She is also an ambassador...

Everyone in the thriller Hereditary is downright terrifying. As Annie, the matriarch of the Graham family, Toni Collette gave us chills. As for her little girl, Charlie? While she's adorable at first, things with her get ugly fast. And we don't even know how to start discussing the scenes featuring Annie's son, Peter, bashing his head against a desk - it's enough to give you instant nightmares.
Like us, in between screaming and being horrified at what you were seeing, you might have taken a moment to wonder where in the world you know Peter Graham from. The answer: lots of places.
You might recognize the actor, Alex Wolff, from a string of recent movies. He briefly pops up as "Young Spencer" (or the younger version of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's character) in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, as well as John "Derf" Backderf, the good...

For an actress who only recently turned 19, Daniela Bobadilla has been working with some very high-profile actors. She's currently appearing as Emma, the girlfriend of Detective Michael Britten's (Jason Isaacs) son, Rex (Dylan Minnette), on NBC's Thursday drama "Awake."
Then this June 28, she appears in the FX comedy "Anger Management" as the obsessive-compulsive daughter of Charlie (Charlie Sheen), a former minor-league baseball player with anger issues who goes back to school to become a therapist.
"They're both really giving," she says of Isaacs and Sheen. "They're both very selfless in the way they work. It's all about the other person, which, in turn, makes the other person better as well.
"But they're both extremely giving. They're both very present. They're both always there, and they're both incredibly professional, always on time, always ready and always wanting to have a good time. They're not like, 'Don't talk to me, I'm in my scene,...

EW has confirmed that teen actress Daniela Bobadilla will join Selma Blair and Shawnee Smith as one of the women in Charlie Sheen’s life on FX’s new sitcom Anger Management. Bobadilla will play the 13-year-old obsessive-compulsive daughter of Sheen’s unorthodox therapist and Smith’s character. Per Bobadilla’s rep, it was actually George Lopez who made the introduction after the actress starred with the former late-night host in the 2009 TV movie, Mr. Troop Mom. Bobadilla was recently seen in recurring roles on Awake and Desperate Housewives.

Worst. DVD. Release. Day. Ever. Aside from the Oscar-nominated Waltz with Bashir, the only major releases out this week are Confessions of a Shopaholic, the Brendan Fraser fantasy dud Inkheart, and... The Pink Panther 2. Ewww. Oh but wait it gets better! There's the Antonio Banderas/Morgan Freeman direct-to-dvd crime flick The Code, Simon Says starring Crispin Glover, Legend of the Bog starring Vinnie Jones, and the made-for-tv horror movie Backwoods starring Haylie Duff! At least there are a couple of Criterion releases and an older Mike Leigh movie called High Hopes... but seriously, that's it. Waltz with Bashir [1] (DVD, Blu-ray [2]) Confessions of a Shopaholic [3] (DVD, Blu-ray [4]) Inkheart [5] (DVD, Blu-ray [6]) The Pink Panther 2 [7] (DVD, Blu-ray [8]) The Code [9] (DVD, Blu-ray [10]) Phoebe in Wonderland [11] Bob Funk [12] Simon Says [13] Backwoods [14] Table for Three [15] Mr. Troop Mom [16] (DVD, Blu-ray [17]) Dragon Hunters [18] (DVD, Blu-ray [19]) Guns [20] High Hopes [21] Legend of the Bog [22] War Wolves [23] My...

Confessions of a Shopaholic
Perhaps we shouldn't expect anything from a movie about a shopaholic, but this comedy's ditzy heroine and silly story can't even compare to other notable films in the romcom genre. In her review, Jette Kernion said: "Confessions of a Shopaholic tries to have it all ... Unfortunately, it's never as good as the movies it tries to imitate." Skip it. Also on Blu-ray.

Inkheart
Yet another film in Brendan Fraser's ever-growing collection of familial adventure. (Will he ever leave it behind and return to his dramatic roots?) Nick Schager describes the film as "a scattered collection of ideas, most of them cavalierly mixed together and barely fleshed out." Skip it. Also on Blu-ray.

School is out and what better way to get you in the summer mood than getting the whole family together to watch Nickelodeon’s new movie “Mr. Troop Mom” on Friday, June 19th on Nickelodeon. It is a hilarious comedy starring George Lopez, Daniela Bobadilla, and Jane Lynch and it will have you dtiching the town pool for the great outdoors. Eddie Serrano (Lopez) is a successful lawyer who is having trouble spending time with his daughter Naomi (Bobadilla). Naomi and her friends have been looking forward to their upcoming camping trip, when an unexpected event leaves them without the required troop mom. Eddie, in order to repair his relationship with his daughter, volunteers for the job and becomes “Mr. Troop Mom.” Lucky for us, Lopez has not changed a bit since his television show George Lopez. He is just as funny in Mr. Troop Mom as he is in his other hit movies,...
