Brian Reich, a veteran comedy writer known for his work on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, where he created such memorable characters as Masturbating Bear and Pimpbot 5000, died September 12 in Los Angeles. He was 53.
Reich, born April 5, 1969, was a Harvard Lampoon alum. His first job out of college was as a writer on NBC’s Late Night with David Letterman at the end of its run. He then segued to Late Night with Conan O’Brien when the former Saturday Night Live writer took over the late-night talk show. During his five-year tenure, Reich helped establish the show as one of its key writers and creator of several signature characters.

Intellivision Entertainment has hired Chuck Labella to lead its entertainment acquisition efforts, TheWrap has learned. Yes, the video gaming pioneer company is still around and has a new system coming called Amico — more on that below.
The vice president will work with marketing and business development and will be responsible for generating new intellectual property for Intellivision to develop into video games.
Think “E.T.” to Atari back in the day. Wait. Definitely Don’T think that.
“We are so honored and excited to welcome Chuck to our Intellivision family,” Tommy Tallarico, CEO of Intellivision Entertainment, told TheWrap. “His knowledge and experience will go a long way for adding even more incredible partnerships, licenses, influencers and relationships to our ever-growing line of products for Amico. “Last Man Standing” aired its last-ever episode last night, drawing a 0.4 rating/2 share and 2.5 million total viewers for Fox. Those Nielsen numbers rose from last week’s penultimate episode — the finale for Fox puppet sketch-comedy series “Let’s Be Real” did not grow from the previous Thursday. “Let’s Be Real” had a pretty short run. Don’t expect it to be back. On an average basis, Fox settled for a four-way primetime ratings tie with CBS, Univision and Telemundo last night. The CW was again alone in seventh place. ABC and NBC tied for first in ratings, both with a 0.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. ABC had a 5 share, NBC got a 4. ABC was first in total viewers with an average of 10.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. NBC was second with 3.7 million total viewers. For ABC, “Station 19” at 8 drew a 0.7/6 and 4.7 million total viewers. At 9, “Grey’s Anatomy” landed a 0.8/6 and 4.4 million total viewers.

ABC tops Thursday in key demo thanks to “Grey’s Anatomy” Let’s be real: Robert Smigel’s “Let’s Be Real” on Fox is a dud. The puppet sketch comedy show fell below 1 million total viewers last night. Thursday was the second week of Smigel’s special. ABC topped Thursday in the key adults 18-49 demographic with its usual one-two punch of “Station 19” and “Grey’s Anatomy” (we wouldn’t really lump “Rebel” into the winning combination), but CBS finished first in primetime in total viewers. ABC was first in ratings with a 0.7 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 4.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Station 19” at 8 p.m. had a 0.7/5 and 4.3 million total viewers. At 9, “Grey’s Anatomy” earned a 0.9/6 and 4.8 million total viewers. “Rebel” at 10 received a 0.5/3 and 3.2 million total viewers. CBS and NBC tied for second in ratings, both with...

Disgraced TV journos Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer are back hosting another small market morning show — but this time, as imagined by Fox’s “Let’s Be Real,” in Fairbanks, Alaska.
On Thursday night’s episode, the “Let’s Be Real” puppets imagine Rose and Lauer now toiling in the 49th state — moving on from their previous. stint as hosts of “Am Sarasota” (as seen on last fall’s “Let’s Get Real” special).
“My what a long way we’ve come from our last job briefly hosting a morning show in Sarasota, 4700 miles to give you some idea of that distance,” Lauer says. Adds Rose: “It would be way too far for a Sarasota police detective to travel here, just to question someone about a minor workplace romantic indiscretion.”
Rose and Lauer then interview an infectious disease expert to discuss the state of the Covid-19 vaccine. And whereas at first the...

Fox’s “Let’s Be Real” gets real bad Nielsen numbers Who needs “Grey’s Anatomy”? ABC finished first on Thursday with its coverage of the 2021 NFL Draft. So both Trevor Lawrence (pictured above) and ABC were No. 1 last night. CBS, NBC and Univision all tied for second place in primetime ratings among adults 18-49, while Fox settled for a fifth-place key-demo tie with Telemundo. Yeah, Fox’s “Let’s Be Real” special did real bad. “Let’s Be Real,” which hails from Robert Smigel, is a satirical (puppet) comedy series that covers politics and pop culture in 2021 through topical sketches, celebrity cameos and remote pieces. In the return of Fox’s Let’s Be Real (airing Thursdays at 9:30/8:30c), a marionette of Cuomo looks to “flatten the curve” of sexual harassment allegations in the city.
