A man and a woman, two tormented souls, have an encounter and head off together on an extraordinary journey.

Misleading title, not a romantic comedy. Not that I'm complaining...

The basic premise is contrived. The way Owen and the Italian woman start off their odyssey is far-fetched and confusing. Nor do we understand how come he is the driver when his driver&#39;s license was evidently taken away due to his drinking. How come he suddenly agrees to drive... &quot;There is two of us, you know, and we are both not normal.&quot; The movie actually had to spell this out, as if it weren&#39;t obvious. Because today&#39;s audiences are morons hence need everything drawn for them? Owen plays a fall-down alcoholic, a shtick that gets tiresome soon. He is a dumb drunk and she&#39;s a loon. This is supposed to be cute or something. A grown man who doesn&#39;t get even slightly phased when the doctor told him that he was about to die if he didn&#39;t quit drinking. Unrealistic. Things don&#39;t improve on the road trip, which should have been much more interesting. Character interaction and dialogue weren&#39;t good. Absurd is how Owen&#39;s wife never for once suspected that he might be having an affair with their female neighbor. After all, he went on a road trip with her without telling his wife. Surely that would be considered suspicious? The writing is far too lazy, which is why everything seems to be on shaky foundation. So lazy in fact that the story doesn&#39;t even have a conclusion. It simply ends with an almost random scene. The less said about Owen&#39;s &quot;childhood song&quot; the better. Instead of playing a 60s or 70s hit, for authenticity&#39;s sake, they play some lame modern nonsense that nobody&#39;s ever heard of. Or are we to believe that Owen&#39;s youth took place in this century? Not exactly a romantic comedy, but it has some of those cliche elements. The title is misleading though.
