Trivia
One of the standout moments of the series where Robbie jumps into the canal was made possible due to the absence of producer and drone operator who left to film on a different part of the canal. As there was no one to help Robbie was forced to jump in the water, filming the entire sequence using just an iPhone and GoPro camera.

Fantastic show

This is my favourite TV programme and the BBC appear to recognise its appeal by moving from first BBC4 to BBC2 and now finally BBC1. There are a number of things which make it enjoyable. First, the host Robbie Cumming is a very engaging chap. He interweaves reflections on his own life, the countryside he is passing through and the practicalities of life in a narrow boat. Then there are the journeys themselves with their interesting and varied scenery. I am like him: someone from the south who loves Northern England. Finally a word for the music which is never intrusive but beautiful. A really great little programme.
