Sometimes, you realize you’re just not cut out for something while you’re in the middle of it, and that’s exactly what happened to Taylor Sheridan. Imagine being in a scene with Jeff Bridges and thinking to yourself, “I’d rather be anywhere but here.” That’s exactly the revelation Sheridan had when he was acting in a film and, quite frankly, couldn’t stand it.
It wasn’t the acting itself—it was the realization that it just wasn’t where his true passion lay. After a string of roles that never felt like the perfect fit, Sheridan made the bold leap to writing, and it was there that he truly found his rhythm and soared.

Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has another killer part: He’s playing murderer Ed Gein in the upcoming third season of Monster. The Netflix anthology previously covered two true-crime tales of the 1980s, those of Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers. Now it’s rewinding the clock three decades to show the depraved 1950s crime spree that inspired Psycho. Who was Ed Gein? Ed Gein was a convicted murderer, suspected serial killer, and body snatcher who became known as the Butcher of Plainfield and the Plainfield Ghoul after his crimes in the Wisconsin community were uncovered. Gein, born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1906, grew up in a tumultuous household with an alcoholic father and a verbally abusive mother, according to Britannica. He idolized his mother, however, and when she died in 1945, he even partitioned off the areas of their home that she frequented. To the locals of Plainfield, where his family had a farm,...

Walton Goggins has always welcomed the opportunity to play complex characters. His portrayals are always unforgettable, whether it be his breakout role in The Shield or his acclaimed performance in Justified. But the most daring and transformative character he played was in Sons of Anarchy.

The story behind how Goggins landed the role is as bold as the character herself and involves a fiery exchange with the series creator, Kurt Sutter. Buckle up because this tale is as wild as a Samcro ride through Charming.

Forget NCIS – turns out, the Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan had some undercover gigs that almost no one remembers. Before crafting ranch drama gold, Sheridan dabbled in crime-solving on CSI, and not just once but twice.

Before he was writing half the shows on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan was an actor. The man behind shows like "Yellowstone" and "Tulsa King" and the scripts for films including "Sicario" and "Hell or High Water" cut his teeth with screen work, a pastime he occasionally returns to when he needs someone to play, say, a cool cowboy who's dating Bella Hadid.
Years before he became known as a Hollywood cowboy, I knew Sheridan as a mysterious man named Danny Boyd in the plucky teen detective show "Veronica Mars," and as the hate-worthy cop Deputy David Hale on FX's "Sons of Anarchy." Those may have been two of Sheridan's most high-profile TV roles, but they're far from his only acting credits. He's had bit parts going all the way back to "Walker, Texas Ranger" in 1995, and can be seen in one-off roles in shows like "CSI," "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,...

Taylor Sheridan is in a position now where he can call the shots on just about anything he puts his name on. You'd think, then, that in his first big career-changing gig with Hollywood after leaving "Sons of Anarchy," where he was taking a risk behind the camera rather than in front of it, he'd be a little more cautious.
Instead, 2015's "Sicario" -- which still stands as the best Sheridan movie he wrote but didn't direct -- endured a fair amount of push and pull between Sheridan and the film's producers. This was particularly true when it came to the movie's ending, in which the hitman Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro) joins his target, Fausto Alarcon (Julio Cesar Cedillo) and his family, for their last meal. Apparently, had the movie's backers gotten their way, Alejandro would have proven to be a a less violent and more forgiving character than...

Taylor Sheridan has brought to life some of the most popular shows on television in the past few years. His gritty writing and unflinching look at what life throws at you out of the blue has been hailed by millions of fans worldwide.

With neo-westerns and tense thrillers, he has built an impressive repertoire for himself with his movies. Interestingly, though, in recent years, there has been a faction of the fandom that has called him out for his writing as well.
According to them, his writing has grown lazy, and just downright bland, that just follows the same formula across genres. Another complaint they have against the Yellowstone creator is how preachy his shows have become. What makes this interesting is the fact that Taylor Sheridan had noted his dislike for the same thing before.

Taylor Sheridan is one of the most popular filmmakers and screenwriters working in the industry now. He hit it big with the neo-Western Yellowstone, which he created and wrote most episodes of, leading him to create several successful shows such as Tulsa King, Landman, and more. He was also Oscar-nominated for Hell or High Water.
Before Sheridan hit it big in Hollywood and the TV industry, he was an actor and had a regular role in the show Sons of Anarchy. However, he quickly grew disillusioned and decided to quit the business before pivoting to become a screenwriter. While he never planned on it, he revealed that he tried to make it in Hollywood in a different way.

When renewing Monster for a third season last October, Netflix’s official release did not include any mention of when the next season would arrive which made many fans think there could again be a two-year gap between seasons; however, it seems that will not be the case.

Stephen King's authorial brand might be the farthest from romance writing, but the king of horror has written about romance to great effect. One of King's most gutwrenching works, "Lisey's Story," is inspired by deeply personal circumstances. It revolves around the titular Lisey who mourns the death of her husband while revisiting their intense, complex relationship. This is a story about a dead writer who is only valued by the world for his literary contributions, with Lisey being the only person capable of piecing together the complete picture of the man he was. Although a romance, the book ventures into the dark, surreal recesses of the psyche, along with the real threat of parasocial relationships taken a step too far.
The romance element in King's novels is not always this twisted or bittersweet in flavor. In fact, "11/22/63" — a quasi-historical time-travel fantasy that takes some wild swings — presents its central...

Fans of Sons of Anarchy should check out Netflix's new miniseries American Primeval because of Kim Coates. Sons of Anarchy aired on FX from 2008 to 2014. All seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy were critically-acclaimed, and the show currently has a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes). Taylor Sheridan is a miniature industry unto himself. He wrote the Oscar hopefuls "Sicario," "Hell or High Water," and "Wind River," as well as the thrillers "Without Remorse" and "Those Who Wish Me Dead." On TV, Sheridan has been blasting barn doors off with "Yellowstone" and its multiple spinoffs, as well as shows like "Tulsa King," "Lioness," and "Landman." These are in addition to a modest acting career that put Sheridan on TV shows like "Walker, Texas Ranger," "Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman," "Party of Five," "NYPD Blue," "Sons of Anarchy," and even "Star Trek: Enterprise." He also plays the supporting character of Travis Wheatley on "Yellowstone" and Charles on the prequel series "1883."
Sheridan has evolved into the modern torch-bearer for Western machismo, and he is often drawn into the dark hearts of manly men. He also seems to love crime stories, tales of criminals/lawmen, and conflicts that end with gunplay.

CBS’ potential spinoff of The Equalizer is beginning to take shape: Titus Welliver (Bosch) and Juani Feliz (Harlem) have been cast in an upcoming episode of Queen Latifah’s hit procedural, Variety reports, with the possibility of both returning if the backdoor pilot is picked up to series.
Welliver’s character, Hudson Reed, is connected to Latifah’s Robin McCall through an old mentor, but there’s more to the “former CIA operative with a dark secret” than meets the eye. Feliz will play his daughter Samantha, who was trained by Hudson in martial arts, weaponry and the ability to...

With the Power universe being known for its high-stakes drama and big character departures, it's no surprise there have been some genuinely shocking deaths, but the franchise still hasn't topped its biggest one from five years ago. The main show concluded in 2020 after six seasons of twists and turns, and while the universe has continued through a series of spinoffs, none have quite reached the heights of the original series. Although Ghost and Tommy will star in Power: Origins, the franchise's next project, it still seems unlikely to provide the same sort of surprises as their initial journey.
Origins is set to be a prequel, meaning the more familiar faces won't die, whereas any new introductions to the series will be at serious risk. Knowing these characters don't appear in the present timeline adds a somewhat predictable element to the spinoff, meaning it can't properly stun viewers. In contrast, Ghost,...

Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone took America by storm. Despite losing its main star, the show continues to both pack a punch and be reflective of a twisted version of the American Dream. The actors, the writing, and the cinematography all come together to create one of the most captivating shows on television. The way Yellowstone captures both the mystery and beauty of Montana while still allowing the characters and story, not just the setting to shine. There's a reason as to why the show became a ratings juggernaut for Paramount Plus. There's even a spin-off on the way called The Madison.
But, one character in Yellowstone caught my attention and remains in the back of my mind even to this day. McDonough has certainly earned his status as a prolific character actor. The actor often plays villains, but chief among them is his character in Yellowstone, Malcolm Beck. Because of...

One of Taylor Sheridan's earliest projects, Sicario, is currently available on Amazon Prime Video, and it's still superior to his work on Yellowstone. The Kevin Costner-led neo-Western kicked off in 2018, and despite a lukewarm reception to the first season, the series quickly became a hit, providing Paramount Network with a contender in the prestige television game. Until Yellowstone's ending in 2024, Taylor Sheridan's series was consistently one of the most-viewed shows in the world, resulting in multiple spinoff series and other high-budget television projects for Sheridan on Paramount+.
Taylor Sheridan has become a prolific success from Yellowstone, with his work essentially carrying Paramount+ on its back, giving it a chance against more prominent services like Netflix and Hulu, which have had far longer to accumulate libraries of original, exclusive content. Sheridan's TV shows include Tulsa King, 1923, and most recently, the Billy Bob Thornton-led oil industry drama, Landman.

Years before Taylor Sheridan cast himself as Travis Wheatley on "Yellowstone," he was often seen butting heads with Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) and his beloved but regularly law-breaking biker gang in "Sons of Anarchy." Kurt Sutter's series, which mixed "Hamlet" with hogs, cast Sheridan as strait-laced Deputy Chief David Hale, a regular thorn in the side of Teller and his crew. For a while, at least.
Staring down the Sons for 21 episodes, Hale was abruptly killed off in the third episode of season 3 (one of the best seasons of "Sons of Anarchy") during a drive-by at a funeral. Like so many deaths on the show, his offing was visceral, assuring audiences that he was well and truly done. According to Sheridan, the exit was his choice, and it all came down to a matter of numbers, both on call sheets and contracts.

The members of the title motorcycle club in Sons of Anarchy aren’t exactly the most morally correct people, though many of them changed for the better, as is the case of Tig (Kim Coates), but he still shares an unfortunate yet fitting record with Jax (Charlie Hunnam). In 2008, Kurt Sutter took the audience to the fictional town of Charming, California, to meet the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club (also known as Samcro), led by President Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) and VP Jax Teller. Throughout eight seasons, Samcro confronts various enemies, including some within the club.
Throughout his time as VP and President, Jax is accompanied by the club’s most loyal members, who follow him through many highs and lows. Among them is Tig Trager, Samcro’s Sergeant-at-Arms during Clay’s Presidency and thus his right hand, who at the end of Sons of Anarchy becomes the club’s VP.

Since having found his breakout turn in Josh Trank's Chronicle, DeHaan has found success on both the big and small screens with everything from the biographical drama Kill Your Darlings to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Oppenheimer, Lisey's Story and HBO's The Staircase adaptation. Though he's better known for creating prestige TV shows and movies, Taylor Sheridan has also played four characters in the projects he wrote. Before Taylor Sheridan wrote his shows and movies, Taylor Sheridan was an actor in his own right. He starred in a few notable projects, like Sons of Anarchy, where he played David Hale, and got quite a bit of experience in front of the camera. He's also used that experience in his own shows, as he's become one of many recurring actors in Sheridan's shows. Over the years, Sheridan has had small roles in four of his own movies and shows.
Most of Sheridan's shows include big casts filled with prominent actors, so his cameos can often fly under the radar. For example, the cast of Landman includes Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore, and Sheridan is exceptionally skilled at securing big names to star in his projects.

Taylor Kitsch and Peter Berg are reuniting for their fifth project, with Betty Gilpin also along for the ride, in American Primeval. Kitsch and Berg first began working together on the TV adaptation of Friday Night Lights, which also marked the actor's breakthrough role on screen, before going on to work together on 2012's Battleship adaptation, 2013's Lone Survivor and 2023's Painkiller. Gilpin, meanwhile, first found success with her supporting role in Nurse Jackie before garnering acclaim for her leading turns in Glow, Mrs. Davis and The Hunt.
American Primeval, directed by Berg, explores the dangerous world of the American West in 1857, including some real-world figures and events, namely the Mormon Mountain Meadows Massacre. Gilpin serves as one of the leads of the miniseries as Sara Rowell, a high-society mother who sets off with her son on a journey to reach her husband and his father, while also holding a dark secret.

Sons of Anarchy is one of the most popular biker TV shows of all time, running for seven seasons and making a significant impact on the genre. One of the most important pieces of the series is Charlie Hunnman's performance as Jax Teller, a member of a fictionalized outlaw biker gang in California. Influenced by the real-life Hell's Angels, Sons of Anarchy doesn't rely on its action and inherent drama to propel the plot forward, as it grapples with the realities of rival gangs and the role the organization plays in larger social issues.
Katey Sagal's turn as Gemma, Jax's mother, is also notable. It's hard to find other TV shows like Sons of Anarchy, as the series evolved so much across its many seasons. However, there are many movies like Sons of Anarchy that feature biker gangs and clearly serve as inspiration for the show. Biker films often...

Everything we know about American Primeval (Photo Credit – Instagram)
American Primeval is all about raw survival, gruesome violence, and a fight for power in a lawless world. Netflix is bringing the heat on January 9, with a series that will make The Revenant look like a walk in the park.
The trailer? Yeah, it’s already setting the tone. Blood is spilled, bodies hit the dirt, and the stakes are nothing short of deadly. Directed by Friday Night Lights’ Pete Berg and written by The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith, this six-episode series takes viewers to 1857, where America is still a mess of violence, fear, and chaos. It’s got all the intensity you’d expect from the guys who brought you Lone Survivor and Painkiller, but with way more grit.
So, what’s the story? Think harsh, brutal, and dark. American Primeval is a fictionalized dive into the bloody birth of the American West.

In the show that warned us "Don't Dead, Open Inside," there were worse things at the end of the world than "The Walking Dead" and poor signage. One of the hit show's most terrifying characters was the Whisperers' disturbing number two, and eventual leader, Beta. Like the rest of his group, Beta sneakily shuffled onto the scene in Season 9 wearing the skin of the dead and taking things a little further than most in forgetting his existence before the outbreak. Devoted to his leader Alpha (Samantha Morton) as much as his keeping his true identity secret, Beta met a grisly and well-deserved ending at the hands of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and was a staple in delivering the scares besides the non-verbal bitey nuisances that plagued the end of the world.

The cast of Carry-On includes Kingsman star Taron Egerton in the lead role, and Jason Bateman and Sons of Anarchy's Theo Rossi as its nameless main villains. Taylor Sheridan's neo-Western drama Yellowstone helped to revitalize the Western genre in television, but it has its roots in another neo-Western that isn't always recognized as such: Sons of Anarchy. Starring Kevin Costner and a talented ensemble cast, Yellowstone became a runaway success thanks to its potent mix of drama, action, and an intoxicating Western setting. While the cowboys, rural setting, and gunfights certainly conjure classic Western vibes, the political maneuvering and corporate espionage ring of more modern dramatic fare, which is part of why Yellowstone's audience demographics are so varied and diverse.

Before he became the "Yellowstone" universe impresario he is today, Taylor Sheridan was a struggling actor who, after a recurring role on "Sons of Anarchy," decided to turn his attention to writing. It's a good thing he did, too, because he has since built nothing short of an empire for himself with "Yellowstone" and its ever expanding universe, home to a bewildering amount of series which will now include the recently confirmed Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser spin-off.
But since he left acting behind, Sheridan hasn't just managed to take over the small screen. Even before "Yellowstone" launched in 2019, the man was churning out an impressive run of crime drama/thrillers which included such well-respected fare as the Denis Villeneuve-directed "Sicario" and snowy shocking thriller "Wind River." Both films comprised part of what Sheridan called his "American Frontier Trilogy," and there's another film that also belongs to that group: 2016's "Hell or High Water.

Nearly 10 years after Sons of Anarchy's conclusion, Charlie Hunnam is finally starting to get promising roles after his performance as Jax Teller in the FX series. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Charlie Hunnam fatefully dipped his feet in acting after he was discovered by a production manager when he was 17. Soon after, he landed his first major role in Queer as Folk when he was 18, paving the way for him to explore bigger opportunities in film and television.
After playing myriad roles in several relatively lower-budget films and TV shows, Hunnam got his big break when he got the opportunity to play Jax Teller in FX's Sons of Anarchy. The critically acclaimed series soon made him a household name, highlighting his potential as a leading man. Strangely, however, even though Hunnam has played diverse roles in several renowned movie franchises and shows since Sons of Anarchy, none have been as iconic as Jax Teller.
