After movies like Violent Night, Fat Man and the recent Red One, you’d think Santa movies with an action twist had reached their limit. However, the action icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, now suits up to play Kris Kringle for the comedy The Man With the Bag, which also stars Alan Ritchson. The concept is similar to Red One, except this time, Santa loses his bag of presents and enlists a former thief to get it back. Adam Shankman directs The Man With The Bag from a script by Allan Rice. The holiday-themed project hails from Amazon MGM Studios.

Bottoms star/co-writer Rachel Sennott’s next project has officially landed a series order at HBO.

The premium cabler has picked up an untitled comedy — starring, written and executive-produced by Sennott — in which “a codependent friend group reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them,” per the official synopsis.

In addition to Sennott (The Idol, Call Your Mother), the...

HBO has given a series order to a new untitled comedy from Rachel Sennott.

The project, which stars and is written and executive produced by the “Shiva Baby” actress, follows a codependent friend group that reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them.

In addition to Sennott, the show’s cast includes Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, Miles Robbins and True Whitaker (“Godfather of Harlem”).

The half-hour pilot, which received an order from the network back in March, is executive produced by Sennott, Emma Barrie (“Barry”), Aida Rodgers (“Barry”), and Lorene Scafaria (“Succession”), who directed.

Back in June 2024, we learned that Fall stars Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey would be starring in an upcoming remake of the natural horror film The Breed. Well, guess who just joined the cast? Scream star Hayden Panettiere! She, along with several others, will be starring alongside Gardner and Currey in the new horror film.

Wait! We need to clear some things up about this movie first. It's not actually a remake. It was initially believed to be one, but instead, it's a sequel to The Breed. It's also been given an official title, A Breed Apart.

While it's still unclear who is writing the script for the film, filmmaking brothers Nathan and Griff Furst (Nightmare Shark) will be directing and producing via their Curmudgeon Films production company. In addition, Daro Film Distribution is signed on to co-produce and will be financing the movie as well.

Exclusive: 7Equis, the creative team behind the comedy podcast Bad Friends with Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino, is launching its newest comedy series Almost Alpha with rising comics and long-time friends Taylor Williamson and Joey Bragg.

Almost Alpha is a comedy podcast hosted by two best buddies—and a 4.6-pound chihuahua named Betty, who keeps the guys grounded with her female pawspective as they discuss the most beta things in a totally alpha way.

HBO has ordered a half-hour pilot episode starring, written and executive produced by Rachel Sennott (“Bottoms”).

The untitled comedy project’s logline promises “a codependent friend group reunion,” in which the friends “navigate how their time apart, goals and new relationships have changed them,” TheWrap has learned.

“Barry” alums Emma Barrie and Aida Rodgers will executive produce alongside the “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Shiva Baby” star.

Sennott most recently starred as Pj, platonic other half to Ayo Edebiri’s Josie, in “Bottoms,” which she cowrote with director Emma Seligman. Seligman also directed Sennott in “Shiva Baby.”

Sennott also appeared alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd in HBO’s “The Idol” as Leia. She starred as Alice in the A24 thriller-comedy, “Bodies Bodies Bodies.”

A graduate from NYU Tisch with a focus in acting, Sennott’s breakthrough performance came from Seligman’s “Shiva Baby,” originally a student film that was adapted into a full-length feature.

“Dìdi,” a coming-of-age drama that won the U.S. dramatic audience award at Sundance, has sold to Focus Features. The semi-autobiographical film was written, produced and directed by Sean Wang in his feature debut.

The film follows a 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy in the throes of an awkward adolescence, as he enjoys the last month of summer before high school begins. He experiences the pangs of first love, becomes friends with some skaters (after promising to make videos of them), fights with his older sister and gets a hard-earned understanding of his mom. It is set in 2008, when MySpace was still a thing and TikTok had yet to explode.

Wang says he hopes that audiences will be able to see a version of themselves in the film, which stars Izaac Wang as the filmmaker’s cinematic alter-ego and Joan Chen (“The Last Emperor”) as his onscreen mother.

In her short career, Rachel Sennott has already done it all. She has dabbled in comedy, written and produced feature films, and starred in several projects, including movies and TV shows. Exclusive: Kelly Park has been tapped to direct and executive produce CBS multi-camera comedy pilot JumpStart, based on Robb Armstrong’s long-running comic strip. Wayne Conley (The Best Man) penned the TV adaptation for the project, which hails from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV and CBS Studios.

Based on the popular comic strip that debuted in 1989, JumpStart is set in Philadelphia and follows Joe, a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner Crunchy. Amazon’s The Summer I Turned Pretty adds Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher to its Season 2 cast in recurring roles. Details regarding their characters are under wraps.

The Jenny Han series, based on her novel of the same name, is a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendships. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.

Series stars include Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Alfredo Narciso, Rachel Blanchard and Tom Everett Scott, among others.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is adding to its cast for season two.

The YA dramedy at Amazon’s Prime Video, based on a novel by Jenny Han, has cast Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher. They’ll both recur in season two, which the streamer ordered ahead of its debut in June.

Details on their characters are being kept quiet for the time being.

The Summer I Turned Pretty stars Lola Tung as Isabel “Belly” Conklin, who finds herself part of a love triangle with two brothers (Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno). The coming-of-age story also touches on the relationships between mothers and their children and the lasting power of female friendships.

Sedgwick and Fisher will join a cast that also includes Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, Minnie Mills, Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott.

Han (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before...

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” has expanded its cast for Season 2, adding Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher.

The two join the Prime Video show in recurring roles, however no details were made available about their characters. Season 2 is currently in production.

Based on the book of the same name by author Jenny Han, Season 1 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” debuted on the streaming service earlier this year, going on to become the No. 1 show on Prime Video during its premiere weekend.

Fisher is coming off a role in the latest season of HBO’s “Barry” while Sedgwick most recently starred in the ABC sitcom “Call Your Mother,” which was canceled in 2021 after one season.

Season 2 is being led by showrunners Han and Sarah Kucserka and continues to adapt Han’s book trilogy, which continues with “It’s Not Summer Without You” and “We’ll Always Have Summer.”
