Two single parents of young daughters grow closer as they contribute to each other's projects: Cadence with the wedding and Henry with his high-profile client Mrs. Sutton and her annual VIP Christmas Eve party.

In the town of Redbird Falls, divorced Cadence Clark and widowed Henry Harrison meet when they are paired volunteers on sets and backdrops for the upcoming Christmas pageant at the elementary school attended by their respective children, 7-year-old Mary and 6-year-old Ruthie. There is quiet disdain between the two in their different working styles. Wedding-planner Cadence has the motto "organize and prioritize": she overly prepares in how she manages her business and personal lives; she has already made up her mind firmly about what to do for the pageant sets. Henry, a painter by trade, is the type of person who wants to get inspiration from the environment in which he works, and once he gets that inspiration he tackles the project with gusto. It isn't until Cadence learns of Henry's family's seasonal business that she gives him any credibility: Twinkle All the Way, a Christmas design firm, Henry who has a warehouse full of Christmas-themed props at their disposal that the school would not be able to afford otherwise. In working together and realizing their collective vision, Cadence and Henry must decide if they are willing to open themselves up to a relationship again' she was badly burned by her first marriage, and he doesn't know if true love can strike twice in his life. What happens between them is affected by their latest work projects; Cadence is planning the wedding of one of her college friends, Avery Abbott, who wants a magical Christmas-lover's wedding and makes a last-minute request to move the event to Christmas Eve; and Henry's family is designing and installing the setting for socialite Sue Sutton's Christmas-Eve party, which is generally seen as *the* event of the Christmas season in Redbird Falls. Helping prepare the local elementary school's Christmas pageant, Henry meets divorced wedding planner Cadence Clark, mother of his daughter Ruthie's play-date friend Mary. Henry's hobby-crafted sledge and Santa stuff are priceless for the school, his gentle painting instructions win Cadence's respect and interest, which blossoms to romance. Meanwhile his noted skills get Twinkle All the Way hired to set up a local socialite Sue Sutton's annual grand Christmas Eve party and Cadences college friend Avery Abbott 'magical Christmas' theme wedding.
