The 40-year-old actor walked the red carpet in a maroon suit at the 2025 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 8) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Jonathan is nominated tonight for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his work in the musical Just In Time. He won in this category last year for Merrily We Roll Along and could make history as the first person to win back-to-back Tonys in the category if he wins this year.

Gracie Lawrence is nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her work in the show and was joined at the event by her brother Clyde.

Richard Linklater greeted enthusiastic applause following the Cannes debut of Nouvelle Vague, his portrait of Jean-Luc Godard’s audacious creation of Breathless. Speaking beside Quentin Tarantino, a filmmaking peer of three decades, Linklater drew parallels between the original French movement and his own 1990s independent surge.

The revival, which starred Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez, ran on Broadway last season and won four Tony Awards, including best revival of a musical. The filmed version of the Broadway show is set for a theatrical release, according to a spokesperson.

Maria Friedman directed the revival of the Stephen Sondheim show, which tracks the relationships of the three friends in reverse chronological order, spanning several decades and ending with their meeting in college. Carlock and Means wrote the pilot, which stars “30 Rock” alum Morgan as a disgraced former football play who sets out on a mission to rehabilitate his public image. Radcliffe will star opposite Morgan as Arthur Tobin, an award-winning filmmaker who moves into the mansion owned by Morgan’s former pro athlete intent on filming a documentary about the once-great running back.

Fey, Carlock, Means, Eric Gurian and David Miner are set to executive produce the untitled comedy, which is being produced by Universal Television, a division of the Universal Studio Group. Rhys Thomas is attached to direct and executive produce its pilot.

Daniel Radcliffe has joined the cast of NBC’s untitled Tracy Morgan comedy pilot from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and writer Sam Means.

Written by Carlock and Means, the new comedy stars Morgan as a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image.

Carlock, Means and Morgan executive produce with Fey, Eric Gurian and David Miner. Rhys Thomas is the director and executive producer of the pilot. Back in November, it was announced that Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada) had signed on to play the title character in an adaptation of It Ends with Us author Colleen Hoover’s thriller novel Verity. Soon after, we heard that Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Josh Hartnett (Trap) had joined her in the cast. Now, Deadline reports that five more actors have signed on to be in the film: Ismael Cruz Cordóva (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, pictured above), Brady Wagner (Broadway’s Merrily We Roll Along), Irina Dvorovenko (And Just Like That…), K.K. Moggie (The Good Wife), and Michael Abbott Jr. (The Drama). Details on the characters these new additions will be playing have not been revealed.

Hathaway’s character is Verity Crawford, a famous author who is unable to finish her latest thriller novel after a car accident leaves her badly injured and incapacitated.

Now you know, when Richard Linklater’s “Merrily We Roll Along” film adaptation premieres in about 15 years, it will star Broadway actress Hannah Cruz.

The “Suffs” star has joined the project as Gussie opposite Paul Mescal, Beanie Feldstein, Mallory Bechtel and Ben Platt, TheWrap has learned. Filming will take place over the next two decades, similar to the director’s process for his Oscar-winning movie, “Boyhood.”

Producers include Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum, Ginger Sledge, Jonathan Marc Sherman, Mike Blizzard and Linklater. Some filming had already taken place as of late 2024, years after Blumhouse first acquired the rights in 2019.

The movie is an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s 1981 musical of the same name. The 2023 Broadway revival notably starred Jonathan Groff, Lindsay Mendez and Daniel Radcliffe.

Cruz was most recently seen in the Tony-winning “Suffs” and is currently attached to the “Big Fish” industry reading led by Patrick Wilson.

The story takes place over 20 years, and Linklater will shoot the film over the same time span, taking a page from his playbook on the Oscar-nominated Boyhood, which was shot over 12 years.
