In the same vein of the Academy Award winning 'Boyhood' (2014), this movie will film for over a year to give star Tim Realbuto enough time to lose over 100 pounds.
Tim Realbuto has lost more weight for this role than any other actor in cinema history (154 pounds!). Right behind Realbuto is Academy Award winner Christian Bale, who lost 63 pounds for 2004's 'The Machinist.'
Realbuto tore the meniscus in both of his knees while training for the film. He had to wear a knee brace during many workouts and fight choreography rehearsals.
Erin Leddy and Tim Realbuto play exes in this film. However, in real life, the two actors are actually very best friends.
Tim Realbuto and his mom (who has MS, and who was a major inspiration while writing the film)'s favorite show is "Mike & Molly." The two fell in love with the endearing Vince Maranto, played brilliantly by Louis Mustillo on the popular Emmy Award winning CBS sitcom. Tim knew that Louis was the only choice to play opposite him in 'Bobcat Moretti' as the lovable, but tough Carmine and brought this to Director Rob Margolies' attention. Rob agreed immediately and the rest is history.
