The second red band trailer for The Man with the Iron Fists offers more bloody, stylized, Kung Fu action and Western homages from Wu-Tan Clan co-founder RZA’s directorial debut, based on a script he co-wrote with Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel).
It recycles much of the footage from the previous two-minute red-band promo for RZA’s movie, which comes with a stamp of approval from his pal Quentin Tarantino (whose own Kung Fu remix, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, was composed by RZA) and stars Russell Crowe, another friend of the musician/actor/filmmaker. In fact, by most accounts, RZA called in many a favor to get Man with the Iron Fists made.
The trailer opens with RZA as a (nameless?) blacksmith at work, discussing the three elements necessary to forge a powerful weapon – all three of which can be ...

First there was Body of Proof and now it is time to try the Chaos pilot. I have to say that I had only read very very little about this show and had seen no promos or sneak peeks or anything at all for that matter, nor had I known much about any of the actors. But even so, I said “hey, let’s give it a try”. And I thought “Chaos”… well this sounds like serious stuff and Eric Close is playing in it, it surely has to do with…well, serious stuff. But no, it most surely does not. Unless you’re counting how seriously faced these guys are playing their roles. Frankly, I’m surprised they get through filming the scenes; I laughed so well during this episode! I haven’t had this kind of a breakthrough since Raising Hope and I’m so glad I tried it on,...

Somewhere inside Human Weapon is not only a great show, but a necessary one. Martial arts have been on the cusp of immense popularity in their own right since they first made headway in the 1970s, and have been looking for the appropriate vessel to gain a foothold in the American imagination totally apart from their occasional depiction in mainstream films. The goal of Human Weapon (to travel the world and speak with practitioners of various martial art forms) is admirable; its execution leaves something to be desired. Due to an overreliance on a travelogue format and a poor choice of hosts, Weapon is never able to engage the spirit of practiced combat in a way that feels meaningful, and never finds the proper voice to communicate the language of strikes, kicks, and bashes.

Japanese cult film fans rejoice! The masters of madness at Sushi Typhoon have just released the promo reel they screened at the New York Asian Film Festival, Fantasia, and the San Diego Comic Con online and that means your first chance to see Yoshihiro Nishimura's Helldriver zombies, Noboru Iguchi's Zaborgar robots and Cay Izumi as the Naked Human Weapon in Tak Sakaguchi and Yudai Yamaguchi's Yakuza Weapon! And there's a little bit from Sion Sono's Cold Fish in there, too! Get to it!

Oh, what a night that was. As those following the Twitch Twitter feed already know the Canadian premiere of Mutant Girls Squad came at Fantasia last night and brought a few surprises with it.
Kicking things off, co-director Yoshihiro Nishimura and Sushi Typhoon producer Yoshinori Chiba hit the stage with Nyaff co-founder Marc Walkow - who also doubles as Sushi Typhoons North American press and festival guy - and dropped a pair of big, unannounced treats on the audience.
First: a promo reel for the entire Sushi Typhoon lineup including the first footage from Sion Sono's Cold Fish (very bloody), Noboru Iguchi's Zaborgar (very roboty), and Yudai Yamaguchi and Tak Sakaguchi's Yakuza Weapon which featured regular Sushi Typhoon star Cay Izumi as a creation known simply as the Naked Human Weapon. Whatever you're thinking right now is probably not far from the truth.
