Nice break from reality

This show is not perfect by any means but it definitely is endearing and a pleasant watch. What's nice is that it's cleverly written while being totally appropriate for kids and chuckle-worthy for adults. However, the hardest part of the show is watching the mom, Cassy....I appreciate the enthusiasm but her acting is VERY over the top with a lot of movement and it breaks up the flow of the scene....I can't decide if she's trying too hard to be a prominent character of the show or if she was made for Broadway/Theater acting.

Big Show is a fun actor who does a great job and the chemistry that he has with his daughters, especially JJ, is fun and endearing...honestly, I could probably just watch 26 minutes of those two with how funny they are together.

All in all, it's a fun rainy day watch especially when we're all stuck at home right now. I really would like to see a second season of the show, but I don't think that would be feasible unless they replace the mother...trust me, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.

But Big props to Big Show *yes, I had to cheesey pun it* a nice surprise from him for sure

Promises little, then overdelivers in the best way.

The Big Show Show follows the titular Big Show playing a fictionalized version of himself who's now retired from the WWE and trying to focus on how best to spend his retirement and be a father to his three daughters. At first glance The Big Show Show may seem like a 90s TGIF sitcom or one of the sitcoms on Nickelodeon, but thanks to some clever writing and strong performances it manages to elevate itself beyond expectations. Both Big Show(Paul Wright) and Allison Munn have great chemistry playing the respective parents of the family, and the kids while somewhat exaggerated caricatures(with the exception of MAYBE the oldest daughter) never come off as grating or annoying. Special praise for Jaleel White playing Big Show's best friend terry who scores some of the biggest laughs with his Gym Owner/Would be inventor. Does every joke work? No. One such example is a running gag with a kid named Taylor Swift(who's a boy), but for the most part the failed gags are few and far between. When I wasn't laughing I was smiling and that's about as much as you can ask for from a show like this. The show comes to us from Josh Bycel and Jason Berger who served as executive producers on the short lived but also very funny LA to Vegas and have credits on very funny comedies from American Dad to cult favorite Psych. The show is mostly family friendly, with the exception of the word "crap" uttered once, but despite people's complaints it's not THAT bad and your kids are probably saying much worse when they're alone with their friends.

Big show hopefully as a big future

My nine year old daughter loves this show. Watched it a number of times. Easy watching Paul Wight is very enjoyable in this family role . I am not sure what the negative reviews were expecting but it's a good family show.

Enjoyable to an extent

With no expectations but was seemingly expected something of comedy and interesting enough storylines. This series is okay at that. The comedy and humor is very much family and child friendly and although the stories are relatively familiar/nothing new, there is a certain interest about it. The Big Show is a capable actor and does have an act for comedy. He's relatively funny without trying too hard.

Some of the jokes do try a little too hard (especially the youngest daughter but we get used to it), and the constant use of one of the boy's name being "Taylor Swift" (not sure at how the writers really thought it was funny and they continued with that a little too much), and nothing is really laugh out loud but since the comedy is juvenile, it is somewhat entertaining. The first couple episodes are possibly the weakest, with the last 3 are possibly being the best. The series does get better as you get used it to.

A mistake was sending the series to Netflix, knowing there wouldn't be a large enough audience to ensure following seasons, and as expected, the views were low resulting in the show being cancelled after 1 season. As we know, Netflix is quite harsh and won't hesitate to cancel a series after 1 season due to low ratings (even with fans and critics enjoying it). Perhaps it would have faired better off being on the Disney channel (but even so, how much of an audience would have tuned in). In the end, don't take the show too serious. It's enjoyable to an extent but nothing ground breaking.

Very cute but not funny

Too much canned laughter for no actual comedy, all the jokes seemed force and the characters are too unreal.. Good concept but Needs better writers

Enjoyed it a lot

Its better than I expected actually. Its sweet, it's funny, the cast are great for a nice sitcom. Big Show didn't appear out of place and his performance seems to fit in perfectly with the rest of the cast. As far as sitcoms go for me it's one of the better ones. Big show = good show.

Refreshing

Take the wrestler out, Paul is such a great leading man in this great fun family series. A trip down memory lane in terms of 30 years ago when family viewing was prominent. Paul has great chemistry with his onscreen family and from the giant monster on the wwe. I look forward to viewing the series and watching it with my family

Full house smackdown crossover

If I was not a pro wrestling fan, I wouldn't have watched this, but I checked out a couple of episodes to see how Paul Wight transitioned to acting.

The show itself is in the 80's/early 90's family sitcom, so much of whether or not you enjoy it will be based on if you enjoy those type of shows. The plots are simple and there are a few funny parts.

Wight does surprisingly well playing the kind softhearted dad and could find his niche in acting. It is nice to see Jaleel White back on a show but his character does not stand out too much. The wife and older daughters are not bad in anyway, but not memorable either The youngest girl does the best job overall or acting and developing what is a typical character on a sitcom of this type.

Not a must see by any means, but better than Fuller House and worth a watch if you like the type of comedy or want to watch netflix with your kids.

Cute little family show

TBSS brings back memories of the old TGIF block of programming on ABC Friday nights, and the campiness of Saved By The Bell of the 90s or any Disney Channel show. It's a fairly sweet and wholesome show that most everyone should be able to enjoy

You don't need to have any knowledge of the WWE Superstar, The Big Show, to watch and enjoy.

Not Funny but Sweet.

This show reminds me of Full House with less people and uncle Joey is a whole lot bigger . The show isn't funny however it does have a few heart felt moments and I'm guessing that's what they are going for . Paul Wight isnt half bad and I have a feeling this show will get picked up and run for 4-5 seasons .

Better than expected...and for Kids

Love Big Show as an Wrestler from his first time in the WCW as The Giant and also later in WWF/WWF he was a great Bigman and very moveable for his szise (2.13m / 200kg) i enjoyed his show erverytime. Now he sattled down and went to the sitcom spot. a very good decision in my opinion. With the new show you need about 2 episodes to get in to it. Very importend is that Paul not throwing people around like dolls when he gets stuck. The cast is also very nicely chosen and in a good mood. And Jaleel White also has a nice appearance as a sidekick where funny things happen again, that is his calling and you just buy him his role. Conclusion: A great tv entertainment for the friday evening after a hard week.

Weeeeellll......Well it's a decent show

I get the feeling that if there are more series, this one will be looked back on and laughed at how cheesy it was back then. The acting isn't bad, everyone is likeable, but plots are thin. Room for improvement if it's given time. I feel they could be onto something though

Not gonna win any awards, but...

It's a fun little show - not funny, but fun. Big Show kills it, Steve Erkel kills it, Fez's ex-girlfriend kills it, the kids though...meh!

Like a 90's sitcom.

It does what it sais on the tin

Steve Urkel is in the cast. and boy does he look and sound different.

All the actors are doing a good job of entertaining, the storylines are fairly stock standard nothing ever goes right but gets wrapped up in a happy bow by the end of episode.

I will say for anyone who watches Simon Miller on WhatCultureWrestling he has a segment called "Nobody talks like that" and that pretty much sums up alot of the dialogue in this show. Not that that is a bad thing, it's a good happy break from reality

Paul Wight (The Big Show) i'm suprised it's taken this long for him to land something like this, he's proven in his WWF/WWE run that he can hang with the best of em when it comes to comedy, not so good in a serious role but in comedy he's pretty good. In this show he more then carries himself

The star of the show tho is the youngest daughter, she's so devious. Think Bart Simpson meets Pinky from PInky and The Brain.

Negatives, there's only a few references to his actual wrestling career, some subtle plugs for Smackdown in the background of the daughters room and so far only 3 cameo's by felow wrestlers and that doesn't occur in the first 5 episodes atleast.

The Happy Happy Joy Joy acting of the mother and the 2 elder daughters does drag on abit if you binge watch.

Overall well worth a watch to escape the Covid reality atm
