After having a decent January, it looks like February 2025 holds the potential to bring diversity to the film releases, as all sorts of action thrillers, horror movies, comedies, and animated movies are on the way. Let’s take a look at the movies releasing in theaters in the month of Valentine.

The time honored tradition of holiday-themed slashers is alive and well in 2025, with Heart Eyes carving up a new Valentine’s Day favorite for horror fans and romance lovers alike. Director Josh Ruben gives romance and horror equal weight in this seamless fusion of slasher and romcom, ensuring that the gore hits just as hard as the sizzling hot chemistry between leads Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding. It’s the rare crowd-pleasing slasher movie with broad appeal without sacrificing the gore.

Ruben, working from a script by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) and Christopher Landon & Michael Kennedy (Freaky), sets the charming, funny, and suspenseful tone straightaway with a cold open that introduces the Heart Eyes Killer and his rather gnarly modus operandi of savagely slaughtering lovers in punny, elaborately gory form. This killer, sporting a memorable mask destined for merchandising, targets couples every Valentine’s Day from across the country.

Ever since the genre was created, the “meet cute” has been a staple of romantic comedies. So it makes sense that in the new “romantic comedy horror film” from director Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within), couples should die cute. Well, not cute exactly, unless you think of spears going through eyeballs or heads being crushed into bloody pulp as cute. Of course, for the target audience of Heart Eyes, that’s exactly what they are. They relish the gruesome deaths, the more graphic the better, the way audiences used to relish spectacular production numbers in musicals.

There is really nothing that is not completely predictable about Amazon Prime Video’s latest big budget romantic comedy, but with Reese Witherspoon back in the genre, and Will Ferrell doing what he does best, the chemistry is there, and so are some laughs, including a real Lol moment involving Ferrell and an uncooperative alligator that is a good reason comedies should probably best be seen with a crowd. Unfortunately, despite its stars and fan-friendly genre, this one is straight to streaming. At least in a Valentine’s Day period, You’re Cordially Invited qualifies more appropriately as a far more pleasant date movie than the horror and action Valentine’s movie the studios have planned this year. It isn’t going to make you forget My Best Friend’s Wedding, Bridesmaids and Father Of The Bride anytime soon, but it’ll do, even as the ‘R’ rating here seems a little harsh.

A few years back, I went to see my favourite David Lynch film, Mulholland Drive, at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. The house was, pleasingly, pretty much packed. Scrubs season 10 will need to deal with the mistakes made by the softly-rebooted Med School run, and returning showrunner Bill Lawrence's comments suggest he is already considering how he can rectify the issues in the medical sitcom's last season. After much speculation, the Scrubs revival has been given the green light and will pick up the stories of the main cast around fifteen years after the show was canceled in 2010. Out of all nine seasons of Scrubs, the Med School episodes are widely regarded as the worst, so Lawrence has some redeeming to do.

Hopefully, every doctor in Scrubs will return for the revival, which would avoid a big misstep taken by Scrubs season 9. Heart have revealed the support acts for their recently announced 2025 North American headlining tour. The iconic rock band will be joined by a rotating cast of fellow legends Squeeze, Cheap Trick, and Lucinda Williams on the late winter / early spring run.

The “Royal Flush Tour” (tickets available here) opens with a two-night stand February 28th and March 1st at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, billed as “An Evening with Heart,” with no opening acts.

On the next eight shows, from March 3rd in Los Angeles through March 14th in Portland, Oregon, Heart will be joined by Squeeze. Then, Cheap Trick will provide support on the following 10 dates, running from March 20th in Calgary through April 5th in Quebec City.

Lucinda Williams will be the special guest April 10th in Toronto and at the tour’s final concert, April 16th at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Vendetta Forever is one of those few inspired VR titles that truly feels like passion and patience were more important than the pecuniary end goal. While details on the Peaky Blinders movie remain pretty secretive, the only information available is some of the featured cast. Deadline has revealed that Stephen Graham is confirmed to be working on the new feature film. Graham played Hayden Stagg in the last season of the show, but he hasn’t revealed what his involvement with the movie entails. Graham says he is “looking forward to seeing the lads again” as he squeezes in this project before playing Bruce Springsteen’s father in the upcoming film, Deliver Me from Nowhere.

The Peaky Blinders movie will bring back the show’s star, Cillian Murphy, who’s hot off his Academy Award win for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Rebecca Ferguson will also be starring opposite Murphy in the movie, along with Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth. The nature of Roth’s, Ferguson’s and Keoghan’s roles have yet to be revealed.
