Fernanda Torres is going in the Golden Globes history books. The I’m Still Here star won the Best Drama Actress Golden Globe on Sunday, becoming the first Brazilian to win the prize.

Torres is only the second Brazilian to be nominated in the category, following her mother Fernanda Montenegro, who was nominated 26 years ago for Central Station; she lost to Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth. Torres dedicated her award to her mother, adding that her win is proof that “art can endure in life.”

The actress is also the fourth performer to win the category for a non-English language performance after Anouk Aimée (A Man and a Woman), Liv Ullman (The Emigrants), and Isabelle Huppert (Elle). I’m Still Here, Brazil’s international feature submission at the Oscars, is in Portuguese.

At a recent special screening of Winslet’s new film Lee, which premiered in September, DiCaprio referred to the actress as “one of the great talents of my generation” in a brief but heartfelt introduction.

The 50-year-old actor introduced the 49-year-old actress at a special screening of her film Lee on Tuesday evening (November 19) in Los Angeles. Her co-star Andrea Riseborough was also in attendance.

I continue to admire your strength, your integrity, your talent, and your passion to every single project that you create. From director Joshua Oppenheimer comes a poignant and deeply human musical about a family that survived the end of the world.

The family consists of a couple and their young adult son who has never seen the outside world. There’s also a maid, a doctor, a butler and a young woman who managed to survive and find her way in. Initially feeling righteousness over their survival, the couple are soon haunted by regret for those they lost and guilt over their own contribution to the apocalypse.

Variety confirms Ronan will compete in both the lead actress race for the Sundance hit “The Outrun” and supporting actress for her upcoming work in the World War II epic “Blitz” — potentially setting her up as a double acting nominee this awards season. If double-nominated, which is currently projected on Variety Awards Circuit’s predictions, she would be the 13th person and youngest actor to receive two acting nominations in the same year. In 2023, CBS ordered a Matlock reboot with the premise of a female version of Ben Matlock, now renamed Madeline Matlock. The ambitious film is imagined as a Golden Age-style musical and cautionary tale about the last human family.

This month marks the return of one of the most twisted beloved modern movie characters: Betelgeuse. Of course, we all know the bio-exorcist by his easier-to-spell name, Beetlejuice. After over three decades, Beetlejuice is back with the long-awaited and appropriately named sequel "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." The new series, which hails from creator and showrunner Ed Solomon, received a straight-to-series order from the Disney-owned streamer in a competitive situation.

Solomon will serve as creator, showrunner and writer and will executive produce the series alongside Winslet, who EPs for Juggle Productions, and A24, which is the lead studio. “The Spot” is also a coproduction with 20th Television.

WME Independent has signed on to rep world sales rights on Nuremberg, a historical thriller set in post-war Germany from filmmaker James Vanderbilt, and will introduce the pic to buyers at the upcoming Cannes market.

The film is led by Russell Crowe (Gladiator), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), and Michael Shannon. Rounding out the ensemble are Richard E. Grant, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, Wrenn Schmidt, Lotte Verbeek, and Andreas Pietschmann.
